That was disappointing. 1st time visiting. They did not seem to restock the food until the last piece was gone. This left minimal choices and freshness less than desirable. Sorry, but won’t be going back, along with $ 12+ for lunch price tag leaves many other better options. In my opinion they need more food options and better management of when food needs to be made and restocked. Overall taste was meh.2.5/5.

First off, this review is solely based off of my experience and not the food. The clearly former Hardee’s building was my first impression. Secondly, after walking inside to an empty establishment, we waited at the front counter for 5 minutes, no less, for an employee(any of the 2 clearly visible) to assist us. The assistance would never come, so we left. Luckily, Sai Ram would become the new first experience of the day. I will gladly try again when I have some time to kill.

We went to the lunch buffet. Let’s start with the positives: Quantity, service and flavor of food was decent. The staff was good about keeping the dishes full. Our waitress was very tenative, filled our glasses, took away our plates etc. Flavors in each dish were on point. Rolling along into the negatives: Quality, variety and punctuality is what did them in for me. The quality of their dishes were lacking. The beef was dry. The chicken was red due to the heat of the pot when cooking, telling me they rushed the dish. Although, they did have all the flavors. Variety was lacking for the carnivores. One beef dish and one chicken. The rest were a veggie lovers dream. Punctuality, they open at 11. We were there early. Went to Mr. Money to kill 5 mins. Walked out right at 11. Two other cars pulled up. Everyone tried the door, it was locked. Waited 10 mins, I called to see when they opened, whoever answered said 11. I proceeded to tell the guy we’re outside and two people have tried the door and it’s locked. The guy then cuts me off to tell me he’s checked the door twice and they’re unlocked. Really dude? I’ve been sitting outside for 10 mins watching people try the door. Almost didn’t eat there but we decided maybe the food would be good. Anyway, we went in and the buffet wasn’t even full set up. Sad since they opened late. Should’ve went with our first impression and high tailed it outta there but we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Needless to say, we tried it and we won’t be going back but don’t take my word for it. You all may like it!

What to say about this place… First, our food came at a glacial pace. 50 minutes for some basic apps, an hour and a half for our main course. Water refills were equally slow, as was them clearing away finished place. Then, there was the food itself. The egg rolls were probably the best part of the meal. The soup was oily, and the steamed dumplings both smelled and tasted weird. Of the 6 people in our group, only 2 liked their food. Everyone else, myself included, found it to be varying degrees of bad. This was my first time going here, and it is also my last. Terrible service and mediocre/bad food is not worth it.

The best secret in Appleton. We love the menu and the wait staff. Incredibly priced and very fresh. The Padang duck is memorable along with their vegetarian selections. We love the experience every time!

My husband and I had the beef satay and chicken phở. Both were excellent! We also bought some of the fresh lemon almond cookies on our way out, they were so good. The owner came to our table to see how we were doing and we had a nice conversation about authentic Indonesian food. The trip was tasty and insightful. We will definitely be back.

We went to Warung Java on a Thursday night and we were pleasantly surprised! Being Singaporean, I’d have to say that the food was really authentic. Appleton isn’t a huge city so it can’t be too easy to find the fresh spices needed for Southeast Asian cuisine, but damn, it tasted fresh. They even gave us complimentary spring rolls/egg rolls, and they actually tasted like the ones back home, not like the ones in Chinese restaurants in America. Nasi Pecel — had 8 different dishes that were all delicious. What stood out was the perkedel/begedil, the sayur lodeh, and the yellow rice. There was some veggie tempura though, not sure why we got a lil Tokyo in all that Java. Nasi Kuning — essentially the same as the Pecel, but with Southeast Asian fave, Satay! With the peanut sauce! Red Curry Chicken — not too spicy and the chicken was so moist. Some might find it overly soft but that’s how they do it in Indonesia. The entrees came with soup which was decent. Service was also decent, though they took a while to cook the food, but I’d much rather wait than have microwaved food. It was pleasant having some authentic Asian food after having so much western food on our road trip. Will try the Kopi Si if we ever go back!

What a delight! We finally got around to coming here. We can for the seafood buffet lunch. We got there at the very tail end of the lunch period so it was understandable that there was not a whole not of each item left, They were happy to bring more out when we came in. Flavors for every pallet. the spices are original and not like anywhere else in the valley. the seafood was fantastic, but I have to talk about something that never gets noticed in a buffet. The soup! They have what looks like a basic chicken soup, don’t be fooled, try it, its the most interesting and delicious spin on an American comfort food. I could just drink the broth. While the seafood buffet is limited(fish curry, fried fish, spicy Mackerel, lo mein ect) But that’s ok! Limited because the things they do, they do very well. Better to be very good at a smaller selection them overwhelm staff with a ton of items that may then lose of quality because there are so many. I did see some regular menu items get brought out to the tables around us and I can promise I will be back to try some of those, they looked amazing. the only reason for the 3 star was that the young ladies they have working there were not very observant. I sat over half the meal without water(I had already drank it, spicy fish! yum!) the owners and cooks were very gracious and friendly, but the employees did not seem interested in anything but their phones or their inside jokes. its fine to joke around on the job, but take it in back, it makes people sitting there think you’re making fun of them. Watch the cups, refill someone’s drink when they need it. I will be back to try menu items!

A wonderful place! Decided to try this place after hearing great things, and I was not disappointed. The food here was wonderful, fresh, tasty and a nice change from your normal every day buffet. I went on a friday(Seafood buffet), and was shocked that it was only $ 10.00. The selection was amazing… Many authentic dishes to choose from, full salad, soup and fresh fruit bar, and the desert options were endless. I especially enjoyed the sweet and sour fish, and the salmon. They also had a spicy paste(not to spicy) that was very good. Overall, there was nothing on the menu that I did not enjoy, and I look foreword not only to coming back myself, but bringing others to try this new Fox Valley gem. I hope to see this place around for a long time come.

We’re visiting from Los Angeles and though it is surprising to find authentic Indonesian food in Wisconsin, it was a pleasure to eat at this family owned restaurant. We got to the restaurant a little before noon and dishes were still being brought out, as they were just finished being made. I would definitely recommend this place, especially if you want to try something new, not to mention the lunch buffet is offered at a really reasonable price of $ 8.99.

Stopped by this place on the way going up north couple of months ago… kept reminding myself to write them a review! Food is fantastic, authentic indo-malay food! I tried the satay, the platter w/coconut rice. Very homely dishes and big portions! Friendly and sweet couple/owners with great attitude and service! Definitely would come back if I ever go up north again!
