Wow! Where was this place the first three weeks I was stuck in Appleton?!? This place is worth every penny! Quality food, perfect serving size, and cozy atmosphere! Ideal for an anniversary meal! Make sure you call ahead for a reservation!!! Started with the roasted beet salad, amazing! Dressing came on it; next time I’ll ask for dressing on the side. And the housemade bread with chive butter, awesome! For dinner I enjoyed the ribeye Med rare. It was huge and cooked to perfection! Perfectly situated over a huge serving of real mashed potatoes and three steamed carrots, this meal was on point!!!

Great atmosphere! Definitely one of the better vibes in town. Drinks were great. My wife’s Pomegranate Martini was stellar and my Whiskey Ginger was well made. Friendly staff, probably no one under 30 however. I ordered the Chipotle Beef Tips and although it was tasteful, it was more of a stew than a dish really; not quite like the menu described, thus the loss of star. My wife ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese and it was FANTASTIC. The sausage is a must with it, a great compliment. All drinks and food was a total of $ 63 for 2. Recommended!

Great food. Not really good for intimate conversation as the place can get very noisy. I recommend.

Will never come here again. The food is excellent. The prices are extremely high. The service is terrible. We have been here a few times now and love the food, but whether we sit at the bar or at a table, the service has been terrible. They treat you like they are doing you a favor by serving you. And, based on the fact that it is one of the most expensive restaurants in Appleton, I would expect them to be over the top with quality service. We will not go back. I would strongly recommend Il Angelo, Lombardis or Cena if you are looking for fine dining with high quality service.

Awesome food and super nice wait staff! The pumpkin ravioli and mussels were amazing! The rye gin and tonic and Hemingway were highlights.

My Maryland Crab Cake Eggs Benedict was really good. They have a neat menu with a great bar I hope to try tonight. Can’t go wrong at Rye.

I think this is one of the best restaurants in downtown Appleton. The food is made from fresh, quality ingredients and thoughtfully prepared. Great fries, great burger, and lots of good entrée options. The décor is modern and beautiful. And, the service is solid.

Great dinner/drink option in Appleton. Several good food options. Servers and bartenders are great! Try the ‘Red Hook’ if you’re into mixed drinks.

We were staying at the Copper Leaf Hotel. Upon returning to the hotel we decided to go to the bar located in the Rye before returning to our room. My husband and I both decided on a White Russian when the bartender finally acknowledged us. We had a pleasant conversation with a couple as they waited for another drink. The bartender had literally disappeared. We asked if we could charge our drinks to the room. I’m glad we did since I would have put a $ 20 bill out to pay. That would not have been enough. Our two drinks cost $ 22. My husband thought I was joking when I told him. We will certainly stay at the hotel again if in the area but our night cap will not be drank at the Rye.

Disappointing. We were enticed by the exciting menu and trendy décor, but the service and food were subpar. The man who sat us was strangely unfriendly. He didn’t greet us or even ask how many were in our party. He saw that there were 2 of us and said, «Come with me…» We were one of 4 tables seated in the place so it’s not like it was crazy busy. Please note that our server was really sweet. The food was not terrible but not great. The bacon wrapped dates were really good. The tossed salad was covered in so much dressing and cheese that I laughed when it was delivered to our table. It was so doused in dressing that I couldn’t eat more than a quarter of it. My husband’s beet salad was also very heavily dressed and had a TON of «lemon-infused goat cheese». My scallop entrée was fine. My husband’s swordfish entrée was way too salty. The menu is interesting but the food was not executed well. Considering the high prices, strange service and unreliable food, we will not be back.

Rye is a craft cocktail bar and our bartender did an excellent job of creating our drinks from scratch. Shelly went with a Lavender Lemonade — Vodka, Lavender Syrup, Lemon Juice, and Mint I enjoyed the Guava Caipirinha — Cachaca, Limes, Guava Purée, and sugar After watching the bartender work his magic, there was a food order that needed to be placed. We split the Bacon Wrapped Medjool Dates and New England Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. The dates were very good and came with a some delicious bread to dip with the sauce. The grab cakes were also very good, but wish there was more than two cakes. Other than that we were surprised on how good this place was. Not sure when we get back to Appleton, but I would enjoy a hand crafted cocktail anytime I go up there. For more information and pictures check out our site:

Rye was good. Trendy. The food menu is smaller than the craft cocktails menu. I had a salad and charcuterie. My friend had Lobster Mac and Cheese. All the food was decent, but I would like to see Rye live up to the hype. I will go back again in the hopes of being dazzled.

So yummy. We have been to Chives in Green Bay a couple of times and we’re excited to try Rye having just moved to the area. We went out with a friend visiting from LA who is contemplating a move back to good olé Wisco; the food we had may have sealed the deal! Love the ambiance. We splurged on this meal but I could see a casual weeknight dinner of small plates at this spot.

I decided to do a appetizer cocktail run for my girlfriends birthday celebration. 2 of us. We didn’t make a reservation. Just showed up. Sat at the bar. Ordered a pomegranate martini. Ive ordered it before and was beyond delicious. Not this time. Too much lime. Very tart. No napkin. No water offered. Bar was a mess. Was handed a menu. Then told no eating at the bar on the weekend. Was never asked if we wanted to get a reservation. Never asked if we liked the drink. Tables were open behind the bar. Never asked if we wanted to sit there. No remorse for the situation. No empathy. No interaction. It was busy when we walked in at 7:30. By 8:15 we were the only 2 at the bar. I will give it another try. Everyone can have a bad night.

Reuben is amazing! French onion soup was very flavorful, and the shrimp appetizer was grilled perfectly! I’ve been here a few times for lunch and have never been disappointed!

Legitimately the worst restaurant I have ever been to. It was so loud, my family & I could not visit without yelling. And the food, the food. Expensive and small. I ordered hoisin shrimp and it was literally 4 shrimp with the heads AND tails on(why???) and maybe a half cup of purple rice. That is not an exaggeration. It was the smallest amount of food I have ever seen served in a restaurant. Don’t worry tho, it was still plenty expensive! 16 bucks for 4 shrimp(with the heads & tails, did I mention that?). I told my boyfriend right away that we were going to Taco Bell afterwards so I could get some real food in my gut. I cannot imagine anyone eating here & enjoying it. Maybe if it was the first meal that you had ever eaten and you had nothing to compare it to. Just awful, don’t go here, go literally anywhere else. Pretentious as hell.

RYE — located in the Copperleaf Boutique Hotel in Downtown Appleton was a breakfast treat. We both had the eggs benedict served with lemony smooth hollandaise sauce and seasoned home fries — deliciously crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Our server was efficient and energetic, she made our breakfast comfortable and enjoyable. We enjoyed the rustic décor and the clam shell chandelier. We are looking forward to visiting Chives in Bailey’s Harbor during our next visit to Door County. Delicious food, excellent service = 5 stars.

I’m so thankful that Appleton has a restaurant like this! My friend and I came here for dinner, my first visit, but her fifth. She knew from experience which drinks to order, a Prickly Pear Margarita was my choice. We enjoyed the fresh bread and butter and Chive fries for an appetizer and I loved the Sriracha Shrimp Scampi. We shared the crème brûlée for dessert. I will definitely be back! It was a lovely evening and the food was fantastic!

I thought the food was excellent. Went on a Friday evening. We were served bred(sourdough and rye with an herbed butter) shortly after we were seated. 3 Salads and 3 Entrees was around $ 100. Priced as expected for a «farm to table, locally sourced» style resto. The Reuben was enough to feed 2 people, and the Fish Fry was delicious. My only negative comment was on our liquor purchase. A bottle of Whiskey we ordered for a drink is $ 21-$ 24 a bottle(at most local grocery stores) we were charged $ 12.00 for a 2 oz. pour on the rocks. No fancy mixing of cocktails or any special talent was needed. Aside from the overpriced beverage, I have no complaints. The place was busy and from start to finish, 3 of us were there for roughly an hour for dinner. Our wait staff was excellent, even helping me with some food allergy issues. I will come back again and recommend this to everyone.

This place is just underwhelming. I wanted to like Rye, I really really wanted to. Unfortunately, after two visits for lunch, I am fairly confident I won’t return. The décor really is lovely and on trend, the money put into renovations surely shows. However, the menu is small and pricey. My first visit I had the«Bistro» which is a grilled cheese, salad and cup of soup. The grilled cheese had quality ingredients but was coated in butter. My friend and I ordered martini’s that were brought to us only halfway filled. It was lackluster but I was willing to give it another try… I went back today for lunch again, this time I ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken(for an extra $ 6). It was so unbelievably salty, it was almost inedible. I offered my dining companion advice about the grilled cheese and she asked to have less butter on her bread and it was much less greasy. I also noticed a table next to us order Bloody Mary’s that came in very small mixer glasses. Hopefully they got what they paid for, but I know they made a comment to the bartender. All in all, Rye has a lot of potential and after the wonderful reviews on the Chef’s other restaurants(Chives in Suamico) I had high hopes. The service is okay, but nothing outstanding. The prices are high and in my opinion, not justifiable. If I wanted to pay $ 18 for a salad and tea for lunch, I wouldn’t do it again at Rye.
