First and last time here: We got to cha 1810mins before closing. We didnt really know where it was at but we finally found it close to H&M. We were feenin’ for ice cream & waffles but we won’t be back since I looked on the back of their waffle maker and found lots of dirt n fuzzies. Come on Cha 18. You have good choices but just dirty machines. No thank you.

Still an amazing place for some warm crispy leige waffles! The workers were very sweet and when I leave they always say/wave good bye! The waffle itself is a perfect mix between the ice cream and crispness of the waffle. If you left the ice cream on top of the waffle for 10 minutes the waffle would not quickly become soggy! I will always come back here because they have stamp cards and AMAZING service!

I would always pass by this little place one day i decided to try it out im glad i did. Now Every time I’m at the Santa anita mall i have to get the cinnamon waffle it’s my favorite the syrup I get on the side since it’s a bit to sweet for me. And I usually get the Boba milk tea. Pretty good. If you do what I did pass right by take a chance try them out.

ehhhhh… interesting concept with the whole mochi waffle, but it was less than i expected. They were also out of green tea, strawberry, vanilla, and cookies n cream ice cream. Yeah. pretty much the whole menu for ice cream. I ordered the taro mochi waffle and all i tasted was regular mochi. I also cant believe a regular oolong green tea latte costs more than the waffle. It was nothing special. I would’ve given this place 1-star, but the two workers were nice.

cha eighteen is 2 stars from this Unilocaler. i love me some liege waffles! however cha eighteen just didn’t do it for me. i’ve had plain liege waffles in my day and they were pretty bomb. so with great reviews that i read i was super excited to come to cha eighteen to try their liege waffle. i ordered it with just strawberries. when i received my waffle i was like WTH. talk about trying to conserve the amount of strawberries you serve. waffle didn’t really have flavor. you shouldn’t need a spread to make it more enhanced. the strawberries was cut up in tiny pieces and placed on each square. totally felt disappointed. felt like they could’ve given me more strawberries. the waffle liege food truck tastes WAY better!!! would i come back? unfortunately not. tips: *cash and credit card accepted *seating on counter or tables *they do provide free samples of their waffles *located near foot locker, h&m, jc penneys, etc.(at santa anita mall) *it’s a kiosk/stand alone booth type

Solid choice for mochi waffles if you happen to be shopping in the mall. Walk toward JCPenney and you will see this kiosk right in front of Foot Locker. I saw on Unilocal that this place offers mochi waffles so I decided to check it out since I had tasty mochi waffles from Koreatown awhile back. When I got to the kiosk, the late-teens/early-20s worker was just standing and texting on his phone. He was still looking at his phone as he walked toward the register to help me. Or so I thought. He proceeded to turn his back to the register and continue to text. I was at a loss for words. I knew it wasn’t intentional. He was really that oblivious to his surroundings. He had a goofy grin on his face as he texted and paced to the rear of the kiosk. At this point, a passerby made eye contact with me and saw what was going on and was just about to grab the worker’s attention to help me when the worker finally looked up and saw me. I was mentally laughing at this point because the situation was so obvious to even a passerby while the worker remained clueless. Once the worker was actually aware of my presence, he was friendly and provided good service. The mochi waffle with caramel syrup was good and I really enjoyed munching on it as I was shopping. The waffle was crispy on the inside and chewy on the inside. Just think of a regular mochi ball with a crunchy exterior. It’s a good shopping treat if you don’t want to eat your typical pretzel or cookie. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here for the mochi waffle but I’m definitely a fan if I’m already at the mall shopping!

PLEASEDOSOMETHINGABOUTTHEFORKS they are so incredibly flimsy that you can’t stab your delicious mochi waffle with them. Please please please get some firmer forks! Also the waffle is delicious, I go straight green tea ice cream and strawberries. They take a while to make. The oolong milk tea is pretty crappy. But that waffle keeps me coming back for more.

I must say to find out there is a place not far while searching on the phone for desserts that I can have a mochi waffle once again. The first time was in Buena Park not far from Knott’s Berry Farm. When Niki S and Vince V says let’s go here, guess who was there on the spot first in line? Ok, well, not exactly in line because I was sitting down at the table in front of this kiosk location searching on my phone for more things. Once Niki finished taking pictures from the second floor looking down below seeing I was on my phone, both sat down with me hoping someone else would take our pictures from above. I was having a hard time deciding what to actually order. I let Niki order first as I was checking out the menu even more. Red bean, taro, red bean, taro, red bean, taro, «sir, are you ready to order?». Darn it! Yes, which would you say is the better waffle, red bean or taro? Taro was the heavily favored so let’s go with that. Just watching them mix the taro in, scooping it onto the waffle iron grill things. Smelling the waffles simmer and brown, the wait is just killing me here. «You’re killing me, Smalls!» Once I heard my number, «ding, pick it up!» I sat down and had to take some pictures or else you would never know what I actually ate. The first bite was all taro, the rest of the waffle was just mochi. If it’s the same price, I would try the red bean again or else it would just be the regular mochi waffle. I got the Thai tea to drink but that had some really weird taste or after taste. Remind me to just get the waffle only. «Thank you sir, may I have another!»

Let’s be honest, every review is about the mochi waffle here. I’m sorry if you thought this review would be different, but nope, this one is also about the mochi waffle. Let me tell you, the mochi waffle sounds exactly like what it is; it’s mochi cubes put together and pressed in a wafflemaker, or wait, actually they might’ve been cheap and just used mochi flour… ;_; BUTGODDAMN, SERIOUSLYIT’S SOGOOD, LIKEIT’S CRISPYONTHEOUTSIDEANDCHEWYONTHEINSIDE, and then drizzled with some form of sugary syrup or powder that will make me even more heavy than I am already It also fills you up really well, cause rice. It’s great for simulating Imperial Japanese cuisine, all you need to add is water.

Came here last night to try the coveted mochi waffle. There were other waffle options such as regular but I chose chewy since I assume it was the popular one. I had it topped with brown sugar topping and the waiting game began(anticipation was killing me, I was determined to eat that sucker ALL day). Finally my waffle was finished, and it came out piping hot on a napkin in a paper sleeve. It was dusted lightly with powdered sugar and the syrup smelled and tasted like maple syrup(maybe that’s what it was?). I’m not sure what it was about it, maybe I had high expectations but it was mediocre to say the least. It was a chewy waffle indeed, but I was expecting a bit more flavor than what I got. I was expecting more of a waffle flavor rather than plain mochi. I didn’t finish it because I gave up on trying to convince myself that it was worth it.

Really good mochi waffles — sometimes we go to the mall just to get this one thing and then we leave. The mochi is integrated into the batter, so you get this unique texture that is soft and slightly chewy; it’s hard to explain but it just works. I’m normally not a fan of waffles, and yet I really look forward to getting this once a week. Take advantage of the 2 for $ 6 special or the Unilocal 20% off check-in coupon. Also make sure to get the flavors that are mixed in with the batter, versus simply toppings sprinkled afterwards(e.g. red bean and cinnamon).

Located near JC Penny in between Closet and Foot Locker, Cha18 has delicious mochi waffles! We didn’t try the drinks so this review is only based on the waffle. There are 5 – 8 tables for seating and counter seating. They were not busy when we were there early before 11am on a Saturday. The mochi waffle is freshly made to order, and it was served nice and hot. The mochi texture is perfect. The waffle is crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. Perfectly done! Highly recommend the mochi waffles! The waffles are yummy, but the seating is awkward as people walk by and look at you eat.

Holy what. Flava Flav said it best…“yeaaaa booiiiiii.” I don’t care if its pastel themed or if it’s in the hellish Santa Anita Mall. The mochi waffle here is mindblowing. Crispy on the outside, chewy, warm and wholesome on the inside. Perfect dessert texture. You can get the mochi waffle with toppings, despite what the menu might suggest. I recommend the cinnamon flavor with vanilla ice cream, banana, and strawberries. Check in and get 20% off your first order.

I’ve been stealthily taking multiple samples of the caramel mochi waffles and oolong tea from this place every time I go to the mall for quite a while now before finally ordering a full sized waffle today. Waffles here are made to order so my caramel mochi waffle came out HOTHOTHOT(even after I saw the guy making it hold it up to a little fan in attempt to cool it down a bit lol). Sooo delicious though. Crispy on the outside like your typical waffle but with a super chewy mochi interior. Personally I found the interior to be a bit undercooked and the amount of raw mochi under the crispy exterior was a little too chewy for my liking. The mochi waffle itself is not particularly big, however, I suggest sharing with a friend since mochi is super dense(and is essentially all carbs/have a bajillion calories). The idea of mochi waffles is really interesting though. I don’t know anywhere else to get anything like this in the SGV other than at Macchiato in Monterey Park. I was telling my visiting relatives from Taiwan about this place and they’ve actually never heard of mochi waffles before either! The place is located across from The Closet around the kid’s playground area/the entrance to JC Penny from Westfield. They also sell traditional leige waffles here. There’s a combo deal where if you get one waffle you can get a drink for $ 2 and then a salad(?) for $ 1 which I actually think is a pretty good deal. I wish I knew they gave out stamp cards because I know I’ll definitely be coming back(and bringing friends!).

More like a 3.5…I gave it four stars because of that amazing chewy texture of the mochi waffle. PARKING: It’s in the Santa Anita mall near the JC Penny side and right next to H&M so park accordingly. ATMOSPHERE: It’s one of those small kiosks but they actually have a few tables right outside of it where people can sit and eat their snacks. The girls wear these maid looking aprons and the rest of the booth is cute and clean, typical of those other asian cafes. FOOD: Brown Sugar Mochi Waffle! It’s basically a liege waffle but the inside has a chewy mochi like substance. Almost like the mochi buns at other chinese bakeries. It’s very good because the outside of the waffle is still crispy. It comes in multiple flavors but the only difference is the syrup they put on the top. The reason it didn’t blow me away was because the waffle itself is kind of bland, it didn’t have much flavor whether it be salty or sweet. The reason it was sweet was because of the brown sugar syrup they put on top of it. I think next time I might try the nutella one. He said the most popular flavors were caramel, nutella and brown sugar. Also — the size of the waffle is pretty substantial. It’s bigger than the size of my hand. Overall — not a bad snack and definitely a good choice becuase of the chewy/crispy combo I just wish the waffle had more flavor.

I love the dense texture of liege waffles and love the chewy texture of mochi, so this was a no brainer for me. I immediately bookmarked this place when I came across it on Unilocal.Only thing that put me off was its location. Why does it have to be inside a freakin’ shopping mall? I hate the mall and can’t stand the mall crowd and parking situation. My wife and I were already in Pasadena so we decided to give this place a try. It wasn’t exactly easy to find because it’s just a kiosk located near JC Penney, in front of Footlocker on the first floor of Westfield Santa Anita Mall. It’s not by the food court, which is what I initially thought. The sign is small and written in cursive style so it’s difficult to see. Wetzel’s Pretzels is right next to it so it might be easier looking for it that way. The mochi waffle was great. It was crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. Talk about starch heaven. It was great with just some brown sugar topping. Other topping options are butter, caramel, chocolate, nutela, cinnamon, and choco milk syrup mix. I think you can only get one topping though. The regular liege waffles can be customized in four steps by choosing your syrup, fruit, ice cream, and toppings. Syrup and fruit are included in the cost but have to add $ 1.50 for ice cream and $ 0.50 for topping. See the link below for picture of their menu. I also tried their oolong green tea which was pretty refreshing. You can specify the sweetness on the tea. I really like the mochi waffle here but don’t think I will be here often because of the location. Unless I have a need to be at this mall, which is slim to none, I probably won’t be back.

Mochi waffles — definitely a unique concept that I have not heard of until trying out Cha18. Cha18 is a small kiosk located by Closet with a few tables and chairs for people to sit and talk while eating a waffle or getting something to drink. I personally think the waffles are a bit pricey for what you get, but they’re different and something people should try if a fan of sweets. They have mochi waffles which are $ 3.25 each, Liege waffles which you can customize with ice cream(they serve Fosselman’s ice cream), syrups, fruits and nuts, as well as savory waffles, ice cream by itself and drinks(oolong green or black tea). They have a Unilocal check-in offer(free drink with a $ 6 purchase), but also have a promotion on the 30 hour famine card for 10% off or 2 waffles for $ 6(can only use one offer per purchase). With all those promotions and deals going on, I decided to try a caramel mochi waffle. The 10% off made the waffle around $ 3 after the tax and discount was applied. I watched them make the waffle in front of me, molding the mochi into the waffle maker and adding caramel drizzle on top. The presentation wasn’t very special. I expected the mochi to be caramel flavored, not having the drizzle on the top. So the parts that didn’t have caramel just tasted like mochi. It was tasty, being crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, but because of the limited amount of syrup on top, there wasn’t much to rave about. I do like their mochi flavors, and am curious about the butter, brown sugar and cinnamon, so I will probably be back to try them out soon. They also have a stamp card for frequent purchasers!

You like Mochi?! You like Waffle’s?! This is the perfect place to get your mochi and waffle fix all in one delicious dessert. Looks like a waffle, has a waffles texture but once you bite in to it its a Mochi. Whoever thought up of this is a genius! One mochi waffle is $ 3.25 or two for $ 6, or you can add a Oolong green or black tea for an additional $ 2. Cha18 is located inside the Santa Anita mall in front of H&M and Foot Locker.
