I’ve never written a review other then places to eat at, but Dr. Chen is my dentist and she is very good at what she does! I’ve been seeing her since I was in high school. I always recommend her to my friends and colleagues! She is very fast and precise. My whole family goes to her and she is very accommodating and takes most PPO insurance. Her technology and toys are very up to date! Even the x-rays are quick, painless, & digital. She gets the results to you in minutes on her flat screen! I just had 2 impacted wisdom teeth pulled and it barely even hurt because she extracted them so fast that I didn’t feel any pain! Check it out for yourself!

I waited 10 min and got my teeth cleaned in 5 min. So I was pretty much out the door in less than 20 min for my semi-annual exam. I never had any dentist this lazy. I could tell she just wanted to get it done and over with and get paid. She didn’t take x-ray even though I hadn’t been to a dentist for a year, and didn’t tell me anything. I had to ask her if she checked for cavities, and she said… «I kinda looked around and didn’t notice any». Hmm… I didn’t even know she actually looked around cuz she surely didn’t. And my insurance(Delta Dental) contacted me that she filed a large sum of money to the insurance, which was over the limit that they normally cover. And she wants us to believe she works for Tzu Chi Charity? Shame on her!

I usually write reviews on restaurants, but going to Dr. Shirley Chen made me want to spread the word. I made an appointment thinking I’d have to get my wisdom teeth taken out because my jaw started hurting a few weeks ago. She did the x-ray and after examining it said that they looked normal, weren’t pushing at my teeth but if I wanted them out, I could opt to do so but there was no rush. I said thanks, but no thanks and I would have walked out there but she noticed that when I clench, I overwork my left side due to a small overbite(which makes me sound so hot right now, doesn’t it). She said the orthodontists I went to before didn’t check for my jaw alignment and basically just wanted to make my teeth look straight(not really feel straight). So basically when I’m much older, after years of habitual overuse of my left side when I eat, I’ll develop a pain in my jaw from misalignment. And I told her I was feeling discomfort already and she was like ‘Oh! Great! Then let’s see what the next step is!’ So she took molds of my teeth and because she knew it was inconvenient for me to come back to Arcadia(because I go to school in San Diego), she took two molds, said there was no rush on the lab, but wanted to fix these problems asap. Unlike the doctor I went to before, she’s really REALLY caring and careful. She notices everything and will explain to you exactly what’s going on. You won’t be lied to so there are no hidden fees leaving you like ‘wtf?‘ My cousin went in a few days before me to get a calcium build up on his tooth removed, she ended up finding 10 cavities(ew and wtf, right?), one of which was on his wisdom tooth that happened to grow in straight. So because of some complication with that tooth. I want to say it was too ‘cavitied’?(can I do that? too bad, I just did), she had to take it out. So 10 fillings and surgery for his wisdom tooth in one sitting! He thought he was going in for some minor procedure and he was soo wrong. Dr. Shirley’s nurse almost passed out. My cousin said the procedure was relatively fast considering all that had to be done and was a lot cheaper than normal. She’s also familiar with invisiline too, if that’s the extra measure it takes to buy you all. If that’s what you’re into… do not go to Dr. Paul S. Chang on Las Tunas. Go here instead.

If you saw my review of the Arcadia Dental Center, you know that I finally switched after umpteen years because I finally got fed up with having to wait a month before being able to get a cleaning. With Shirley(Dr. Chen?), you can pretty much call and see her within a couple of days at the most. She also is a techno-phile, so she has all the latest toys, including digitized x-rays and records(so you can get real time feedback of how your roots look!). Plus, she’s a sole practitioner, so she does all the work herself Not that it matters, but her office is actually pretty well lit and pleasant. Her receptionist doesn’t speak the greatest English, but communication is still OK, just a bit slower. Park in the back in a huge shared parking lot.
