This place is amazing! It is small inside but we usually go at off-times and never have had an issue getting a seat immediately. We have been here 5 or 6 times now The servers have always been great. My favorite sushi dish is the 5 layer with eggplant tempura at the bottom(Ardsley roll maybe?) but I have never had a roll I didn’t like. The prices are so reasonable as well.

Awful chinese-knockoff sushi. The neon wannabe-looking décor should be the giveaway. My work lunch buddies(two of whom spent extensive time in Japan) and I are baffled that this place averages 4 stars.

Decent sushi for Ardsley. Pretty fresh fish. Lost stars for putting shellfish in a roll that on the menu didn’t have shellfish … Edit: saw other pictures of the same roll from Unilocal and it clearly had shellfish there — not a one-time mistake. I miss Sushi Man(which used to be located here)

Delicious food and exceptional service. I have been a regular here for over 2 years now and I can say that this is one of the best less expensive sushi restaurants in lower Westchester. I come here every week for their two roll lunch special(available for take out) and it is always nothing less than outstanding. This cozy restaurant is small but very well kept offering Asian fusion dishes and modern décor. The owners are always friendly and welcoming. I love this place for dates or a night out with the girls. They can get pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights so I would recommend placing an order for pick up or delivery if you want to eat right away.

Fresh fish, good service! Small place, nothing fancy but cute enough for a casual meal.

Seriously excellent sushi! Everything melts-in-your-mouth fresh and delicious. Service above and beyond; friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Very accommodating. Excellent cold sake list with very detailed explanations for the uninitiated. It has become our place to go for sushi.

I don’t get the high ratings for this place. I went there for lunch and the dining room smelled like disinfectant. Decent rolls, but the pieces of sushi and sashimi are cut way too big and the quality is far from pristine. The miso soup is awful. If you want to compare good miso soup with bad, try the soup at Nishi down the street. Umami’s soup tastes like it was made from a powdered mix. The service was pleasant, but I don’t think I would return. The sushi is much better at Sazan across the street, or even better at Azuma in Hartsdale. But I prefer traditional sushi prepared by skilled sushi chefs. Which this is definitely not.

It was definitely a more modern bar-like looking restaurant. It’s definitely Chinese owned so it’s not so authentic. The sushi tasted okay but they have a few«fried» or «crunchy» sushis that are a bit heavy and they kind of tasted weird. I don’t know about the other dishes on the menu but I know that this was a one time go. The service was nice.

Pretty good sushi! If you would like something local and good this is the place! The sushi rolls are tasty and the prices are great! Friendly staff and beautifully Decorated but it can get crowded some days, and parking is limited but overall my experience here is always good ‚ It’s down the street from my home so it’s convenient for me!

This was so pleasant, the atmosphere allowed for a conversation. If you are looking for a place to have a great lunch and not be rushed out the door this is your spot. Small on the outside and great and huge inside. Come by the service is too notch

Mediocre at best. I went with my dad on a Friday night. We got the tuna and salmon tartare to start. Nowhere in the description did it say it was going to contain a ton of tempura flakes… Ew. It was made in the kitchen, not even at the sushi bar. Fish was not diced, tasted more like a purée. Ugh. We shared the sushi and sashimi combo for our dinner. The tuna roll was good, but how do you mess that up? The sashimi was terrible. Texture of the fish was mushy and probably was a result of being frozen and thawed. I know they say even Nobu does that but the texture of the fish was really mushy here. Had we been hungrier, probably would’ve gotten a special roll… Their descriptions sounded appetizing at least. Chinese-owned sushi place… Usually an indication of the quality. MUCH prefer Sazan for more authentic sushi.

The lunch specials cannot be beat. My favorite is the pick any three rolls. It is served with soup and salad, of course. There is a nice atmosphere and spacious seating. This is the best in the area!

Another restaurant that could be 3 ½ stars if allowed by Unilocal,so they are unfortunately stuck with 3, but you won’t be disappointed, even though I am not a sushi expert. FSA please(Food, Service, Atmosphere) Food: a lot of rolls to choose from, and you order the sushi 2 pieces at a time. They had several creative specialty rolls, and overall I thought the sushi was fresh. One note — they do not serve dessert, but at least give you a sliced orange to cleanse the pallet. Service: the greeter is very forward-friendly and gets you seated right away. The sushi chefs do not mess around and get the food out fast. Even on a busy night we did not have to wait long for our meal. They also had a lot of take out customers coming thru as well. Atmosphere: Dark, modern, casual, trendy-ish is best way to describe. Typical size for a sushi restaurant. A bit on the loud side, but I did not mind. if you need a sushi fix, give this place a try.

This place maybe small, but the sushi is fresh and the staff is super friendly. I went there once and when I returned back a few month later, the host/owner remembered me and my husbands name. Monday nights they have two young boys playing live jazz. Nice touch. This is my new sushi place. Forget sushi Mikes where the owner screams everything that comes out of his mouth and you jump 50 feet every time he says something even though you are prepared for the yelling. SOUNPLEASANT! And the sushi is not that that great.

This Japanese restaurant has quickly become one of my favorites in the area. I don’t remember how we found it exactly, but it was a great discovery. I think that we chose it originally because whatever review we read said that the chairs were especially comfortable. This turned out to be true, for the record. I’ve only been here two or three times, but after the first time I went the owner remembered myself and my friends. Recognition is always a great way to get on my good side, but the fact that the food here is great didn’t hurt, either. I usually get one form of sushi roll or another and haven’t been disappointed. The Umami roll is great, and I LOVE the Spicy Girl roll. I’ve tried a ton of their appetizers and have loved them all, too. The chicken gyoza is delicious and the tempura doesn’t skimp on the veggies. Also — FRIEDICECREAM! One of the few places that I’ve found that does this dish right. It only comes in vanilla though, which kind of sucks. If they added green tea fried ice cream to the menu, I might just edit this to give it five stars. They do have green tea mochi, though. Umami is kind of small, but it’s never very crowded so I wouldn’t say that getting a table would ever be a problem. The prices are reasonable, certainly not any more expensive than at similar places in the neighborhood. The staff is very attentive and accommodating, and as I said, the chairs are REALLY comfy. The rest of the atmosphere is nice, too — a little dark, a little trendy, and the tables aren’t too crowded considering that the restaurant is on the narrow side. There’s a big circular booth in the corner that I love sitting at because it allows me a view of the entire place so that I can spy on people’s orders and get food envy. And trust me, you will too — the presentation of each meal isn’t lacking, either. It’s probably contributing to how I keep going back(and will continue to) again and again.

Went by myself on Thursday night(night the Yankees were swept by the tigers) and was the ONLY person in the place! A few people wandered in a bit later. I sat at the sushi bar and had excellent service, although I questioned my judgement in having sushi in a place with no other customers. I had an interesting roll with tempura eggplant on the bottom and a pile of salmon paste, covered in sauce. I do not enjoy mushy salmon. I like my salmon to resemble fish ‘meat’ in some manner instead of semi-solid. I did really enjoy my Kani salad though which had a smattering of tempura flakes on top and a nice spicy sauce. I would give this place a second chance as it seems very clean and the fish appears fresh.
