They always smoking something outside this restaurant. So it tempted me to try it– was disciplined. One and done, wish it was none & done.

This was a huge disappointment! From the ambiance to the food.
Ambiance: a ghost town. Didn’t have a restaurant vibe. Looks like someone put some tables in a store with a counter top for orders.
Ribs: Not much flavor. Didn’t finish them to them being bland.
Chicken: The flavor was so off, we didn’t eat it after one bite.
Spicy sausage: It was very dry as if it had been cooked a couple days before.
Greenbeans: bland
Mac n cheese: No flavor except for bits of jalapeño peppers. Tasted like jalapeño noodles.
Water: You are charged for a cup of water.
I would have given this no stars, but not a choice. When we left, we were worried that we would get sick from what we ate. Much of the food we purchased, we threw out because it tasted off.

OK so this was my very first time eating here and I was not all that impressed. I ordered ribs and the spicy sausage.
First, The sides: Green beans– Simply put they were very bland. The mac/​cheese, didn’t know they were going to be spicy and the menu didn’t state that, was a surprise when the kids had some and gagged.
Second, the Ribs: Nothing special that sticks in my mind. Didn’t taste bad but not the best I’ve had.
Third, the spicy sausage: Now let me say this, I’ve love love spicy food. I’m used to food that’s spicy and can still actually tell what the food item is. However, the sausage wasn’t like that. Its very spicy but its done in such a way where you don’t know what you’re eating. The spices is completely overpowering the natural taste of the sausage.
I wasn’t impressed with this place but it isn’t the worst I’ve had so 2 stars.

One of the Best BBQ spots in South Arlington. Chopped Beef Sandwiches are the BEST! I have frequented this restaurant several times since it opened and the food is consistently good. The service here is top notch! A great family-​run business.

It seemed very pricey for 2 of the worlds smallest BBQ sandwiches. They gave us the dead fish treatment for service. I will never be back.

I love their baked potatoes!!! I always get chopped beef with sausage. You won’t be able to finish your good because the potato is humungous! They have good cake to its very moist! The fish is good. I love the food! We have definitely told a lot of people to come to avery’s! GREAT BBQ

I’d give it no stars if I could I didn’t even get to taste it. No sausage no spicy sausage so I asked if they were out of anything else. Cashier said no. So I start to order a baked potato nope don’t have it. She offered to make it on French fries… That is not the same thing! So I left. What a waste of gas. Very upset. I won’t bother coming back since they can’t keep the small menu of food in stock. How do you run out of baked potatoes! How do you run a business like this. Ugh and I’m still Hungary oh and it’s not like they were busy. One table of 4 people in the whole place.

We were not that impressed. My husband got the ribs and I had baked potatoe with beef. They were both just ok. Greens were pretty good and the beans were so-​so. Everything except the greens were not heated. Lemonaide was awful and we don’t drink sweet tea, which is all they offered. Unfortunately they ran out of ice and had to go buy some. The cashier was a delight but the man in the back was not too friendly.

This is real, home-​made, southern comfort food. These pecan candy things are delicious. The BBQ sauce has perfect flavor and everyone there is super sweet. If you’re looking for a hole in the wall, hometown favorite you have to check out Averie’s.

I got delivery and it came so fast. The two nice ladies who brought it were so kind. The food is amazing. Seriously best bbq in arlington!

I wast really impressed with their bbq. I got a chopped beef sandwich, greens, and stuffed baked potato. I initially wanted the vegetarian stuffed potato they were advertising but I was told they ran out of the vegetable mix. The chopped beef in my potatoes and sandwich was a little tough and had a lot of chopped up fat in it. The bbq sauce I think was too sweet for my liking, and the greens tasted like they just steamed the greens writh no ingredients. A classmate of mine referred this place to me. I’ll take Colters, spring creek, or Dickeys before I spend my $ here again.

Went there today and I think the food is good. I had the ribs and my wife had the brisket. The ribs were a little on the fatty side but tasty. The brisket though was on point! So juicy; thick slices and the sauce is wonderful with the meat. The sides were ok. I’m not into mashed style potato salad; must be a Texas thing (I’m from the east coast). Macaroni portion was too small. The chocolate cake was moist and delicious. I’d eat there again. That brisket was the best.

I went here yesterday because a friend of mine recommended it. I looked on their website prior to arriving and there is a special for ribs. I asked for that and was told the website was wrong and the price was more. I asked how much more, and was told $ 10 more! That is a big price difference, since it was their error you would think they would accommodate the customer and fix the website. The cashier was so rude I almost walked out, but I had drove a good distance to try them out. The brisket was fatty and the ribs were ok at best. The cabbage was undercooked and the potatoe salad was bland. I will NEVER go back here.

I was in the neighborhood for an event on 7÷13÷13. Saw the BBQ pit smoking and decided to stop by. Ordered loaded baked potatoes… they came with two meats. Good sized portion and priced right compared to other establishments offering the same product. My boyfriend judges places by their ribs… always sauce on the side so he can taste the flavor of the bbq. The ribs were good but a bit on the chewy/​tough side. Flavor was on point though. We don’t live extremely close so can’t say we will make a special trip over to get the food but will likely eat there again in the future if close by. The staff was extremely friendly, personable and helpful.

Seem to be nice people but the food was terrible! I have no clue why I don’t have my own BBQ restaurant cause I know I can do 10 times better!
I was charged for 3 meats although I only got two. The homemade hotlink needs to be removed from the menu so definitely don’t get it!
Prolly will never go back!

We were so excited to find Avery’s when we brought my car for an oil change at the Goodyear right next door. It was lunchtime so we stopped in and the woman behind the counter offered us the lunch special. We both enjoyed the great food and reasonable price and we were pleasantly surprised by the sweet personalities of what I believe were the owners. We were hooked! Since then we have been back several times and when the owners are there, the experience is always great, but when they aren’t there, the rules always change, the taste is inconsistent and the service isn’t nearly as pleasant.
To sum it up I’d say when this place is good, they’re great, when they’re bad, they’re awful!

I would give five stars IF the service wasn’t sooooo slow and inconsistent. The food is great and Ms. Avery is very nice. My favorite is the chopped beef sandwich and my hubz loves the pulled pork.

Tried it for the first time since it was close to home, and I won’t be ever be back.
Ordered dine-​in for a brisket plate. and the food came out in a styrofoam to-​go box with a slice of sandwich bread. It looked unappealing to begin with, and the taste was no better. Food had no taste.
