Caves is a great bar to break the normative of most bars. The music will jump around genres and decades. I don’t visit often but when I do it’s a great bar to visit. The outdoor patio/chill area is a great place to hang out with friends on the night or day. Prices are very good. The parking lot could be better, there’s times I’ve pulled up and I was glad I drove a truck because of some of the divots in the lot. still a great time to be had.

Caves — the only bar around I know of with pretty comfy couches and a fireplace screen saver as their fireplace replacement. I don’t haunt Arlington regularly, but when I do, I step into Caves for their cheap drinks, smokey environment, and that’s pretty much it.

Be careful! We started a tab here only bought 2 drinks that night and paid cash. They continued to charge our credit card. They also charged a cover and there was no way to even see the band! When disputed the charges with our credit card company they wrote a nice little note saying they walked the tab and didn’t tip. We paid $ 20 for our $ 14 drinks and they still charged our credit card company. If you feel like being raped financially feel free to go to this bar!

Caves is great! It’s got a hipster vibe. My husband used to go to karaōke every thursday. Nice and different crowd, everyone is friendly every time we go and the bartenders are really great at what they do. You always meet a new friend, or run into someone you know!

I really have a good time at Caves! I think the best thing about it is the variety of people it brings in – people from all walks of life all congregated and having a blast. I’ve been on Thursday night, which is karaōke night, and it was so fun. Most of the people who sang were actually really good, but the crowd is just as enthusiastic and encouraging to the folks who aren’t, so don’t be shy. Everyone’s cheering each other on. Love the atmosphere as well. There’s tons of room and it’s all dark with lots of red tones. I like the dia de Los muertos skeleton paintings on the walls. Many unique pieces of artwork. There’s also a super spacious patio out back with plenty of tables, some covered. The bartenders were really friendly and I think the drinks are pretty typically priced. My only complaint about Caves is the smoking inside. It’s seriously hazy and definitely fragrant. Last time I came home my boyfriend mentioned that I smelled like an ashtray. :| Thanks, dear. But he wasn’t exaggerating. Oh well, it’s part of the casual vibe going on and I’m still a fan of Caves.

It’s a typical dive with a nice patio and a great selection beers on draught. If that’s your jam totally check it out. Thursday night karaōke was good too. Dress super casual.

I’ve been here twice on my trips to Dallas. First the drinks are cheap. I’m used to DC prices but the quality is still good. The ambience is pretty cool and comparable to places I have been to in Miami and DC. I noticed there can be a wait for drinks but the bartenders are nice. I made sure to leave a nice tip for the bartender cause I’m cool like that. When I move maybe I’ll pass by again.

Don’t let the exterior/parking lot fool you! It’s awesome. The inside is kitschy dive bar & the back is a huge, really relaxing & quite lovely patio. Throw in cheap drinks & a great rock n roll juke box & it a great spot to hang!

Good specials, good tunes, and a good patio. What more could you ask for? Professional rock-paper-scissors? Check. Karaōke? Of course. Trivia? Duh. Movie night? Francis Ford Coppola himself would approve.

Caves is a awesome place with good cheap drinks and awesome staff! If you are lucky enough to be served by the best bartender ever Wes, you have been served by the hand of the drink Gods!

I enjoyed Caves the one time I was here. Their drinks during the day are super cheap, so I came here around 5PM, I believe. You get a wide range of people, so if you’re interested in meeting some interesting characters, I would come here. The atmosphere is a little on the dark side, which I guess is fitting for the name Caves. Don’t expect fanciness, because it’s a dive bar.

Everytime I drive past this place I thinks its going to CAVE in on itself. and the parking lot looks like it gets hit with meteors every night. This place is old– and I admit I frequent the shack standing between it and Division street more. But if Sunshine is too crowded I’m on to Caves for brew. I will tell you the chubby doorman is a douche. I have a lot of military/out of state visitors and sometimes he’s a jerk about letting people in that don’t have a Texas DL. Dude, unless it says«McLovin» just let us in!!! The patio was given a facelift a while back and it pretty sweet on cool summer nights– its pretty large, I would dare say larger than the actual bar. They have quite a few taps and they even rotate a handful of them. Go here if you don’t have anywhere else to go.

I recommend going during the weekday, amazing chill nice bar tenders that take care of I & my wife. I have been there on the weekends usually packed, but totally during the week very nice & mellow. Beer section is always awesome. I prefer Caves over World of Beers or any other bars. It’s caves or I go to liquor store to get my fancy beer fix.

I enjoyed my visit to Caves. Went on a Tuesday night around 11. Friendly crowd and there was a DJ playing classic Hiphop. The only bad thing about this place is the smoke. I plan on being back.

The first time I came to this place I was less than impressed. It seemed like just another smokey dive bar. That was a LONG time ago. I happened to stumble in again recently. Could this really be the same place? It looked the same. Smelled the same. But something was different. They have upgraded their beer selection! Along with the regular cheap beers(and they do have some REALLY cheap beer) and full-bar, you can now get a few local craft brews. I think they did a good job at selecting the right ones too. While drinking a couple of Velvet Hammers and two different IPAs I started to notice just how cool this place was. The juke box is filled with a great selection of rock music. From Led Zeppelin to Jack White(to name popular ones), they have plenty of bar music. If you can’t find something you like in there, you don’t belong in that bar, and you certainly shouldn’t be picking music for others to listen to. Since I’m not a smoker, I can’t sit in a cloud of tabaco for too long. The good news is that they have the perfect remedy for this problem. I had never stayed long enough to notice, but they have a huge patio. You can’t see it from the street or the front but it’s not to be missed. In fact, even though the bar tenders were very friendly. I’m not sure that I’ll ever sit inside again.

Caves is a more upscale dive bar, located right behind sunshine bar on division street. They have a real nice patio, quite huge too and the crowd here is quite dressy yet hipster in a way. They have specials on Wednesdays and Thursdays if you are looking to not spend a lot. They also have a real nice selection of hand crafted beer ranging from light lager brews to more dark guinness kinda blends. They have a beer called the velvet revolver, usually my sign-off beer. I say that coz it has more than 8+% alcohol by volume. They staff is friendly and does take care of you without having you to wait too long. They also have one pool table inside the bar and have karaōke nights on Tuesday. On Monday night’s they have movie nights and sometimes they do show some nice flixs. Caves is like one of your neighborhood bars and the people coming here are usually regulars, more like you’d see them almost every other day. So, if you are looking to just chill with a couple friends in a place with nice ambience caves should be on your list.

I went to Cave’s for the first time Friday based on reviews. I love dives and this place is a dive like I like. However, I just do not understand the praise for this place. For example, a lot of the reviews mention the jukebox and how great it is. I have the exact opposite opinion on the jukebox. I’ve never seen a worse organized selection of check-me-out hipster garbage than the jukebox at Cave’s. 90% of the selections in the jukebox are ‘house’ compilations that I’m guessing Caves employees made over the years. The fact that the selections are almost all homemade compilation«mix tapes» and not actual full albums makes it virtually impossible to search and find specific songs or artists you would like to listen to. Instead, you have to wade through a never ending list of ridiculously themed compilations with a ton of ‘check out of my poor taste in obscure music’ tracks. On to the bar itself — from the outside this place looked promising. I expected to see a bunch of tattooed men and women yelling, smoking, laughing and having a good time. When I walked in the place was(more or less) dead — this was on a Friday night around 10:00PM. Now, I did see at least one I-don’t-give-a-fuck dude with tattoos and piercings and that was the bearded bartender who looked like an OK of enough dude. There were about 13 people inside(not including the staff) and 10 of them were guys. Also, these looked to be mostly local UTA college kids. Based on reviews the back patio area was the place to be — well — again — I guess I was there at a bad time. There was a table with about 6 people at it and that’s about it. Didn’t look like much of a fun time outside at all. Back inside and on to the drink situation. I saw that Cave’s had PBR on tap(which is pretty rare to find on-top even in dives) so of course I ordered a pint(and a shot.) Well, the PBR was crisp but almost warm — definitely something wrong with the tap. Come to think of it — the bartender went in the back to get the PBR so for all I know it was out of a can and poured into a glass — either way it was about 20 degrees too warm. So, just to recap: 1. College crowd — booooooring 2. Warm PBR — yuck 3. One of the worst jukeboxes — ever — period — end of discussion 4. HORRIBLE men’s bathroom. The men’s bathroom is RIGHT in the middle of the main room and opens directly to the seat backs at the bar(what the hell?) I really really want to like this place because its such a smokey shit hole(and I love shit hole bars that you can STILLSMOKEIN) but the jukebox makes me want to punch myself, the warm beer makes me want to stop drinking and the college kids make me want to move on to some place else entirely. From reading some of the older reviews about Caves it seems that this was a really great dive bar 5 or so years ago. However, I can only give this place a couple of stars(as if anyone working at Cave’s(or anyone in general) gives a flying F about my rating :)) I’ll try this place again on a different night to see if the crowd is different but I’m not hopeful — sorry MB!

One of my favorite places to go drink at. I have been going here since I turned 21… which was, let’s just say, YEARS ago ;) The atmosphere is nice, the drinks are reasonably priced and I never get hit on by a creepy old man. Plus most of the dudes are just my type; bearded, tattooed and adorable. Did I also mention the porch is dog friendly? *Swoons*

Caves is probably getting a fourth star for nostalgia. It may deserve it anyway. When I think about Caves, I feel like one of those«I Liked That Band Before They Were Cool» guys. It’s been around for quite a while now. It’s the old Skippy’s Mistake. The car is still there, but the bus is gone. The parking lot probably still has the same potholes, but bigger. I used to be here constantly in my college days. You can’t go in without seeing someone you know. That’s still the case today. This may be what brings the clique comments out. Everyone else in the bar already knows each other. It felt more like a family a while back, but once again, this could just be me waxing nostalgic. The beer list is pretty good. Mixed drinks don’t usually skimp on the alcohol. Prices are usually fair. Franconia Brewing makes the Osbakken Dunkelweisse for Caves and Ozzie Rabbit. It’s pretty good. On the downside, it’s incredibly smoky and around 5:00 they crank the music all the way up to where you can’t hear yourself think. The drink line is in the middle of the back door and both restrooms, so the line backs up almost immediately and you never know if you’re next or last. There’s also just not enough seating. When the place gets going it gets very crowded and you won’t find a place to sit. The patio out back is great. It’s been evolving over the years. There’s a backyard bar, but I’ve never seen it open. Occasional movie nights out there are usually pretty cool. Trees and landscaping have finally taken to the area and look pretty good. And I don’t know about y’all, but I actually kinda like the train.

Holy smoky shit. Do you remember when Dallas was still smoking friendly in bars and Cosmos was so smoky it was like a cloud hung over the whole place and your no matter how hard you tried you smelled like smoke for days and your eyes burned and you had to throw away your shoes? Do you miss that? Well! Friend, head on over to Caves Lounge! ;) Really, smokiness aside, this is exactly the type of bar I would frequent. I had a beer and a shot of jäger and we listened to some of the 4 weirdest conversations I’ve heard ever. I even joked maybe we were at some portal into some weird underworld where we’d be skinned and eaten alive. The place reminds me of a bigger Cosmos, all set with 70’s looking furniture and even a fire place– with a TV running with fake fire in it. My shot of jäger was about ½ the size of what I’m used to. But the dranks were cheap and it was definitely an entertaining spot to chill for a few! I’ll be back.
