I wanted to order 3 pizzas from Goody’s yesterday to be delivered. If I were to pick them up at Goody’s, it would be $ 60. Dr Delivery wanted to charge me $ 90. A 50% upcharge for delivery? Not going to happen. I understand their business model, and I am OK with paying a little extra for the convenience of having food delivered, but paying a $ 30 pizza delivery charge is excessive. This was the first time I was going to use Dr Delivery, and I will not consider using them in the future.

I’ve been ordering through Dr. Delivery since 2009, and through their handy account history feature on their website, I can see exactly how much I ordered through the service. It’s in the thousands. The restaurant I normally order through in Arlington has closed, but its sister restaurant is still open in Alexandria. As it turns out, the Arlington location was more than 6 miles from me, while the Alexandria locale was only 3. It seemed like a better deal for the Dr. and for me to get the food from the Alexandria locale, even if I was technically in a different town. I certainly didn’t think the imaginary Arlington/Alex border would represent an insurmountable obstacle, say, like the Berlin Wall or the San Andreas fault. But of course, I would be wrong. Loyalty, smoyalty. The rep answering the phone could not have been less suited for customer service. He was disdainful and rude. I tried to explain my request — which I admit, would have required a wee bit of flexibility on the Dr’s part, but was rushed off the phone with the standard«Alexandria restaurants don’t deliver to Arlington.» I sent an email to the owner, explaining my exasperation, and the Dr. never bothered to even reply. Do yourself a favor and find someone else to deliver your food. These folks couldn’t care less about you or your order.

I have been ordering through DD now for more than 13 years since moving to the area(long before I became a Unilocaler). I tend to order late and therefore can only mostly comment on the night shift staff, but I have always found them to be courteous and friendly. They were also great at making suggestions, based on what was still open. Over the years, this dude named Jay was especially customer service-oriented, making sure he had the order right and then breaking down fees and costs so that I knew for what I was paying. If ever you run into any difficulties, I encourage you to ask for him. All this having been said, it is important for readers here to know that DD seems to charge a higher price for almost every single menu item, and this is in addition to the delivery charge, gratuity, and tax. As others on Unilocal have accurately indicated, numerically, by the time all is said and done, we end up paying double the cost of what we would be charged by going to the restaurant directly. Interestingly, DD also charges the restaurants for which it delivers. Consequently, DD makes money both from the delivery source and the delivery recipient. I heard from a restaurant co-owner, whom I met at a community event, that the exorbitant price structure is why the good folks at Hard Times Café discontinued their business relationship with DD, but that is neither here nor there. Would-be consumers, including those like me who cannot drive, would do well to be aware of how DD works before ever ordering. If they are willing to pay higher costs for the convenience of delivery, then they may at least be aware of what into which they are getting if choosing to use this service. For me personally, though, depending on what food is available at any given time of evening, any increased costs may still be less expensive than covering for a taxi round trip. If others know of a comparable service whose fees are more consumer-friendly, do let me know. Meanwhile, I will keep using this service late night until I find better alternatives.

THEWORSTSERVICEEVER! If I could give negative stars I would. I used this service through GrubHub for the first time & will never use it again. The only reason I used this service was because I ordered food to my job since I was severely craving cookies. I ordered from Chic-fil-a & my order was a Grilled Chicken Wrap, 6 cookies, fruit cup & White milk. The order took about an hour with a delivery charge of $ 4.99 plus an additional 15% of the order. I received everything EXCEPT7 cookies, so I was pissed because the cookies were the ENTIRE reason I ordered from GrubHub. There’s an entire story line to this situation but I’ll leave the short version. Basically I called back & the guy I was speaking to was completely rude for no reason but gave me a refund for part of what I was missing. I then called back because I realized I was missing more, but was hung up on. Tried to call several times from different phone numbers & was continuously hung up on or sent straight to an automated message. I even called Chic-fil-a & GrubHub separately & they basically could do nothing so I don’t blame them. I’m supposed to get the entire refund back but we’ll see if I do because it’s still pending. Overall, NEVERUSEDR. DELIVERY! The worst service ever! Just save your time & energy & go pick up the food yourself or wait until you can. I WILLTELLALLMYFRIENDS&SOCIALMEDIATONEVERUSEITEITHER. I’ve never hated a service place ever even after bad service but I HATETHISSERVICE!

They were happy to charge my card but never delivered the order or even called to explain why. I called to talk to a manager and they promised a refund for $ 31.71 would appear within 24 hours… that was almost a month ago and no refund has been given. I attempted to contact the manager via the provided email address with no response. I have now filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Buyer Beware!

I have had good experiences with Doctor Delivery in the past but most recent order was just off the wall terrible. I live in Alexandria Va. I have ordered food to my house several times. However when I placed an order tonight, it was immediately canceled because they claim to not deliver to my zip code. Despite having delivered to my house several times before. I called and the«manager» claimed that their policies have not changed and he has no idea how I got deliveries to my house in the past. Note: I have not moved. This is utter stupidity. Never. Again. My advice: don’t use this service. You may never see your food. UPDATE: I called the owner and he called me back… to tell me that he did not have his computer with him and could not tell me why they refused to deliver to my address. I asked him to call me back when he was actually in front of his computer and could be useful. I have yet to hear back. *cancelling account*

They are just a rip off. Tonight was the last straw. They say they charge 15% premium on top of the food cost plus a $ 4.99 charge. Even if you are comfortable paying the 15% on the delivery charge, the bigger problem is they are simply overcharging. They are inflating the food costs and refuse to show the actual food costs. $ 51 for $ 33 on pizza. They should go to jail.

I really don’t know why I keep going back to this place. I mean you REALLY have to be one remarkably lazy fool to continue using this service. Admittedly, I’ve played the part. But no more! If it was just the expense then maybe — actually, quite likely — I would continue to pay the premium for my sloth-like ways. But it isn’t just the expense. It isn’t just astronomical cost(twice as much as what you’d pay if you were to pick up the food yourself); it’s the service itself, or total lack thereof. If it happened once I’d figure it was a one-off. But this place is on a losing streak and last night was the last straw. So this morning I begin anew and solemnly swear to blacklist this business bc they continually, in essence, insult their customers. — Apathetic employees — Multiple botched orders(due to poor communication and/or aforementioned apathy) — Consistently long delivery times(always well in excess of an hour) — Once delivered to the wrong address — Once took my order(via phone) and then never delivered! And when I called an hour later to get the status, they told me they never received the order, at which point I was unable to re-place the order since the restaurant had closed for the night. — Food looked suspect on two separate occasions… guy, were you eating my French fries?! So suspiciously few that one time. And what’s with the cheese all fallen off of my pizza? We’ve got Mario Andretti behind the wheel here. I could go on. Also, the knucklehead on the phone always, without fail, asks if I’d like to leave a tip BEFORE the service has even been fulfilled! Who are you, man?! No! I mean, maybe if your track record wasn’t so abysmal. On principle, no business of integrity would allow their employees to ask this question at this point. And yet, despite these brazen requests for a tip before completion of service I actually always tip well. Just my default setting bc I’ve worked in the food services industry myself and I get it, it sucks. So I’ve empathy. But all that is over now because, Doctor Delivery, I am NEVER using you again. I would caution everyone against this place. People get off your behinds for once and get your own food! Now take my credit card off your record!

There are sooooo many reasons for this low rating: 1. High Cost/Low Quality They added an additional $ 4.95 to our order plus an extra 15%…but my food was 35 minutes late, lukewarm, and my beverage order was incorrect. The driver was upset because I did not tip him and I was upset that I could not justify tipping him considering how late the food was and how expensive the order was. I assumed some of the extra money was going to the driver(kind of like how some restaurants add on gratuity to ensure their workers receive adequate compensation), but the look on his face was sheer disappointment. Is most of his bread and butter coming from the tips? 2. It’s an inefficient model – When I told the driver I could not tip him because of how late the food was and because my drink order was wrong, he said«but it’s not my fault they got to me late and came with the wrong drink.» Does that mean this company basically gets food delivered to them and then they deliver it to us??? That sounds like a horrible model. And it explains why my food was late, cold, and wrong. 3. They represent far too many restaurants, have far too few drivers, and to few telephone operators to be efficient.

Wish I could rate them negative stars. So pissed. I ordered through from a restaurant that uses Dr. Delivery. I’ve done it before and while incredibly slow(takes over an hour and a half every time) usually at least the food gets here. Tonight I ordered and an hour and a half later I’m told they«never got the order» despite confirming that they had confirmed my order 4 min after I placed it. So now it’s 10pm and nowhere is open and I’m starving! Sometimes I figured the WAY overpriced fees upon fees(paying $ 30 for a $ 17 meal) are worth it to get better food and not have to get up, but never again for this frustration.

I spent 3HOURS online yesterday trying to find someone to deliver pie to my 99 yr old grandmother for her birthday, and finally found one that indicated on their website that they would deliver to her house, and the ONLY choice for place with pie was Silver Diner. Four slices of pie and their«delivery charge» and«fuel surcharge» later, I went ahead and paid $ 33 to schedule the delivery for 2pm the next day. I get a call ONEHOURBEFORETHEDELIVERYWASDUE to tell me they DON’T in fact deliver to her address. WTF??? Way to ruin Grandma’s birthday, and leave me with ZERO time to find an alternate vendor.

How do I give 0 stars? The food was extremely cold, the order was wrong, and they charged 12 $ for delivery for a meal that was 12 $. 100% delivery charge. I ordered brought grub hub so didn’t realize it was Dr. Delivery. I assumed I didn’t have to tip since I was paying for delivery. The driver asks me for a tip. Who does that? I feel bd he got jipped. But $ 12 for delivery … Really? It should be a percentage of your total order.

If I could rate below zero, I would. This is the THIRD time ordering lunch for clients and our office that 30 mins past delivery time there is no food. I call them and they blame someone else, who blames someone else. If you cannot get a simple lunch order correct, perhaps you should think about another line of work. It’s not brain surgery.

DONOTORDERFROMHERE! First of all, they say that it usually takes between 45 mins to 1 hour for the delivery but its more like an hour and 15 mins. BUTWORSE, they claim to have a LOW delivery fee of $ 4.99 on their website, but when you call, they automatically add a 15% packaging charge to your order. I should add that their minimum delivery charge is for $ 15. That means that if you order the minimum of $ 15, then your getting charged about $ 7.50 in fees, not including tip. That goes up significantly if you order more. Say you order $ 30 worth of food, that’s about $ 10 in fees not including tip, which is ridiculous. They should really put this on their website and are being deceptive in their marketing.

I used to use Dr. Delivery because they were the only delivery place in the area. The last time I ordered from them, the driver tried kicking in my door because I didn’t tip him to his liking. it scared the crap out of me! Thank god for ExpressEntree, Grubhub, etc. I can now purchase from them so I never even have to think about using Dr. Delivery again. They now offer the same number of restaurants as DD does as well.

Dr. Delivery is a lazy man’s savior/torturer. Ok. This place does what it advertises. It takes places that don’t deliver and brings them to you. It does it somewhat promptly, takes maybe an hour or so. And actually, it’s a pretty good selection of places, all sorts of chains and nicer restaurants in the Arlington area. So what’s the catch? Well, the cost. It’s a significant surcharge, of at least $ 15 including tip and driving fee for every order. For me, it’s always a «OHHH crap, I don’t wanna do anything/go anywhere thing», followed by the inevitable remorse on the credit card statement. Stuff that should cost you $ 20 will cost you $ 40, so just know that when you use this, be ready to shell out. Honestly, they do their job, it’s just so frigging expensive it’s seldom worth it when you look back after a meal.

Drivers are life-threatening! I was jogging on the sidewalk(wearing reflective orange shirt and yellow shoes), and a Doctor Delivery driver shot right out of an apartment building’s driveway and would have hit me if I hadn’t jumped out of the way at the last minute(causing me to sprain my ankle in the process). And to make things better, as I paused to get the car’s license plate number to file a claim and/or police report, the driver honks at me and starts screaming at me for not watching out for her! Are you kidding me? I know this isn’t a conventional review, but given the tone and tenor of all the other reviews for Doctor Delivery I just thought I’d provide another reason this is clearly a terrible company you should avoid doing business with. And joggers: if you see an older model maroon Dodge Ram, LOOKOUT!

What a GREAT idea! If only it could be executed. The people who answer the phone are always rushed/unhelpful/apathetic and the service is terribly slow. We use to to order here all the time, but got fed up with always having to wait at least an hour and half to get our order, then having it be cold when it arrives… all on top of the high prices(it would be worth the price if it arrived quicker and warm). We only order here if we are in a bind, and can’t agree on Pizza or Chinese, and then we order about 2 hours before we think we’ll be hungry, and start the oven so can pop the food in there when it comes. Not worth it!

The idea behind this service is great(order food from any number of restaurants that don’t deliver, and then have it delivered by a third party), but the execution is pretty poor. First, to give credit where credit is due, they were very timely. I ordered at about 6:15, and the invoice said to expect delivery around 7:10, and the guy showed up at 7:11. Pretty spot-on, and the only thing that saved them from a 1-star review. The problems are many, but first, 11 bucks for the delivery of two entrees? Really? Their website said 4.99 delivery, yet somehow, the system charged us 9.71 for delivery, on top of whatever other bogus fees that were charged. With tip, you’re looking at 15 bucks to deliver 2 meals… insane. Add in the fact that the food arrived freezing cold and they forgot my root beer, and you’re looking at a service that I’ll be hard-pressed to ever use again. Avoid.
