El Tutumaso Restaurant

This is by far the worst bolivian restaruant ever. Food is nasty, old and stale. Service was the worst ever. I would never ever go back even if they paid me to eat there.

This place was so unsanitary. The food was bad and the services was even worse. This was not your typical Bolivian restaurant. Bottom line, health department shut them down, they deserved it!

Worst experience at a restaurant. The food is tasteless and overpriced, the service is poor. The place is dirty and the waiters dont even bother cleaning up the tables. I’m not coming back here

Unfortunately, never got to try anything. They turned down my business because they don’t speak English :(really? Not even a lick of it? It’s sad when you want to give a restaurant your business but they can’t perform a basic function. I hope the owners take action to train and develop their staff to understand basic terms like «to-​go». No excuse for such a poor operation in Arlington.

My daughter and I tried El Tutumaso tonight. It’s a Bolivian restaurant, and it appears to cater to the local Bolivian community, but I can’t believe that they’ll be able to stay in business much longer serving food like this. The best thing I can say is that the service was friendly, but I can get friendly service at McDonald’s, and I’ll feel better after I eat.
I had fried tilapia. The portions are huge, but the fish was all but inedible. It was battered and deep-​fried, but at the wrong temperature, because it was soggy. Also, the fish was the wrong color — tilapia should be white when it’s cooked, but this was not. And it was full of bones, which is really not what I’m looking for in a batter-​fried fish. It was super-​greasy. Even the little bit I ate stuck with me long after we left.
My daughter’s food wasn’t as bad, but she said it wasn’t good, either.
Also, although this restaurant is new, the menus are old and falling apart, and even the check folios are coming to pieces.
The bread was good. That was it. There are way too many other places in Arlington to get good food. I won’t be going back.

This is the worst Bolivian restaurant out there extremely rude stuff, they give you attitude just for asking for water.
I order chorizo and it was so salty and overcooked I talk to the manager about and he said
that is the way the dish is served he didn’t apologize or tried to give me something else instead, i don’t recommend this place period they treat you like they are doing you a favor being there

Service was horrible, it seems like the waiters are used to male customers because i was there with 3 other girlfriends and 2 kids and the waiters completely ignored us and we had to ask for service more than twice, they brought the food at separate times and everytime we needed something, had a hard time getting their attention, once we did, she wouldnt even wait for us to finish our sentence and she was already walking away…

I have been here twice, up until this point. And each time I have dined here, the workers were very hospitable.
On both of my visits, the server gave us extra food for free. They let us try the dried peach drink, and linaza. They brought out strawberries as well. The server was excited to let us try some of the menu items that were very new to us.
Unfortunately, soup is only provided on the weekends, but we were lucky to get some soup on a Monday. With our soup we got a large plate of rice and the best beef tripe I have tasted in the United States (outside of my family cooking it). The second time we ordered the marinated beef, potatoes, rice and peppers. The rice here is so delicious you can eat it alone. I look forward to coming back on a weekend so that I can try the beef tripe again.

Good Bolivian food at an affordable price. I tried the Linaza, saltenas, and ribs with corn and everything was good. Was there on a Saturday evening and the only non-​Bolivian there. And it was packed. Service is meh, and double-​check your bills, we were billed $ 20 more than we ordered.

El Tutumaso is a Bolivian restaurant that recently opened in the old Sauca location. The only thing I liked on the menu were the empanadas, so that’s what I ordered. The staff did not bother to heat it up for me (it sits in a clear case), or even ask if I wanted it heated up. The empanada was OK — crust was flaky, but slightly sweet, though there was plenty of cheese. Staff is not friendly and I was ignored for a few minutes, even though they were standing behind the counter, not helping anyone. Décor is basic tables and chairs with plastic tablecloths. Website is unhelpful. I won’t be returning.

They just moved to Columbia Pike and Buchannan.

I ate here once a long time ago and had favorable memories; sadly, this place and everything in the shopping center are closed. Their website still seems to be up, so they may have moved, but who knows. Sad. :(

They’re open again, and where Sauca /​Bob and Edith’s other location used to be! Time to check them out!

This palce has a delicius bolivian food. The tutumaso plate is amazing!!! They serve the best mocochinchi (peach juice) in the area.
The place is small, but very confortable and the waitress very friendly.
