I’m a transitioner and went here for my first perm rod set. My stylist Sess was very sweet and informative. She talked me through everything she was doing and why it was important, so I got a bunch of tips on things I could do at home. It was my first time having the steam treatment and it was awesome! My hair was so soft and moisturized. The curls were a bit tighter than I’m used to, but the style held for about 3 days without any maintenance(I only washed my hair because I worked out and messed it up. I probably could have wore it a couple more days). Only complaint is that the salon is all the way in Arlington, but it’s worth the drive! Oh and ask for the fruity hot tea they have… I didn’t get the name of it but it was amazing lol.

This was my first time at a salon that specializes in natural, curly and textured hair. I also hadn’t had my hair trimmed or straightened in about a year so I was excited a previous trip coincided with Huetiful’s opening in Arlington. They are appointment only as to make sure they have ample time with each patron. I only had to wait a few minutes after my appointment time to be set down at the shampoo bowl(which I think is impressive compared to horror stories I’ve heard from friends about waiting 30+ minutes after their appointment time has started). Tasheara took the time to tell me the kind of shampoo she was using, different things she was doing during the process(like detangling my hair during shampooing) and why. It was a very enjoyable experience and the finished product wasn’t too shabby if I do say so myself. I was nervous the heat in Texas would immediately revert some of her work but I am now back in Nebraska and on day 4.5 with only a little wave back around the roots. Will be back again to try a Devacut and a curly style when I’m back in Texas.

Naturals, REJOICE! The first real full-service textured hair salon in the DFW has arrived! But the real question is… does it live up to the hype? I found out today at my first appointment. The answer is a definite YES– and then some. In case you’re unfamiliar with Huetiful, they are famous for their treatments, steamers, education & products and have become quite famous over the past several years. As of now, they have salons in Chicago, Atlanta and now DFW, opening its doors in Arlington just a few weeks back. To clarify, this place isn’t just for black curly-haired girls(though many of us are so happy to finally have a salon like this nearby), it’s for anyone with naturally curly or textured hair. Huetiful has expert hair stylists that come from all backgrounds and boast various specialties(i.e. damage-free color, damage-free straightening, deva cuts, etc.). Curls, waves, coils, locs are their passion and expertise. My stylist, Tasheara, was knowledgeable and friendly. She has worked with many top celebs and shows including Jennifer Hudson, The Steve Harvey Show and The Real so I was especially excited to have someone of her caliber working on my tresses. With nearly 60 services to choose from on their menu, I opted for a simple wash n’ go on my appointment. I usually rock a twist out and wanted to see if I could get a lower maintenance style that would work for my fast-paced lifestyle and everyday workouts. I was unsure if she would be able handle some of the heat damage around my bangs but thanks to a deep condition and 25 minutes under their high powered hair steamer, some of the curls were restored. Their hair steamer is one of the brand’s signature treatments and is supposed to help bring out the elasticity, moisture and bounce to your curls. Thanks to the steamer, some magical foam wrap lotion and individual strand definition, I was able to rock my first real low-maintenance wash n’ go. Big, defined, beautiful texture I didn’t even realize I had. I left feeling happy and confident. The most important part of it all was that I asked about 100 different questions along the way. Tasheara took her time explaining what products she was using and how/why she was applying them, so I could recreate this look at home myself. I appreciate that they don’t overbook appointments so you get individualized attention, care and hair care education. Overall, I was so pleased. And I can’t wait to explore some color, deva cut and blowout services in the near future.
