Big portions of greens, meat, potatoes… whatever you could want! I particularly enjoyed the salads and the grilled chicken, which, though overpriced, you could swap out any of the sides for others. No potatoes? Get ratatoille. No bread? Get greens! Endless possibilities. I loved it here! I hope the new place(which showcases… sausages?!) is as good!

I was really excited to try this place and when a groupon popped up, I jumped at the chance. I went with a friend on a Saturday night at 7 pm. The groupon was for 2 entrees and 2 cupcakes. I ordered the rabbit salad with steak and my friend got a different salad. When I asked to add steak to the rabbit salad, I was told I would have to pay for that because it wasn’t part of the salad… ok. Then they had absolutely no cupcakes, at 7 on a Saturday… don’t they market themselves as red velvet? I was told we could come back another time for the cupcakes… so I asked what happens if there are no cupcakes that day, the cashier rudely told me I would have to keep coming back until they are there. So basically it could take 3 – 4 trips to use the whole groupon? Ok… how about don’t sell a groupon if you can’t provide what the groupon is for. Onto the food– my salad was ok, it was well dressed but it was just lettuce, peas and carrots with dressing and a few herbs, nothing special. The steak was way over salted and slightly overcooked. My friends salad didn’t look very good but she said it was ok. I ordered an iced tea and when I asked for a lemon the rude cashier handed it to me on a scalding hot plate that had just come out of the dishwasher… ow. The water station was out of cups and dirty. I will never come here again

I don’t see what the hype is all about. I had an OK experience here. However, if you aren’t a meat eater, your choices are limited. The online menu showed salmon and tuna, but they were not options during my visit. I had the«gourmet» classic grilled cheese sandwich. For $ 8.50(the online menu says $ 7), I was expecting it to be a little more substantial. You know, like those commercials where the person pulls the sandwich apart and cheese oozes out. This sandwich was golden brown, but it had very little cheese. The bread wasn’t gourmet, and for a health-conscious place, white bread is not the best option. The side salad was the best part of the meal. I wish they’d offer a veggie pot pie, or a comforting bowl of homemade soup. More people were coming in here for a Red Velvet Cupcake than a meal. Maybe they could start making some healthy desserts to coincide with their restaurant’s philosophy? Also, maybe if my palette was broader I’d have more dining options. I can’t say that I’d be tempted to deal with the weekend traffic and lack of parking in this part of Clarendon to come back again.

This place is great, the food is tasty and the portions are fantastic(mostly greens, which is wonderful). Only complaint is the amount of salt that they use. I’m sensitive to salt, and the mashed potatoes and steak were a bit oversalted

This is a good place to get a healthy, light meal — so it’s more well-suited for lunch. You order at the counter from a menu of mostly salad and soup options, but there are some meats too. The salads are fresh with very flavorful dressings — nothing to heavy though. Their mashed potatoes and tuna are good too. Most everything on the menu is worth having, just don’t order the cuban sandwich. Strangely, for how good everything else is, the cuban is equally as terrible. It was extremely fatty and I couldn’t finish it. The atmosphere is reasonably nice, but the staff behind the counter are somewhat slow and play around a little too much when they should be focusing on serving you. They also have a partnership with Red Velvet if you want to get a cupcake for a little dessert.

This place used to be amazing when it first opened. Now I feel like its just another restaurant concerned about making profits and not interested in customer needs and feedback. When things first started to go donwhill a few month back, I contacted management to report the issues to give them a chance to comment or make some changes but I never heard back from them. Now I am inclined to leave this review on Unilocal after trying the place again today. What I ordered today: Rabbit salad with Tofu for $ 14.00 The rabbit salad used to come with a delicious grilled carrot. Now its just a few shaved carrot flakes. The tofu size was much bigger. Now its a pathetic little piece What hasnt change: The price. I still paid $ 14.00 for this tiny little salad.

I love the concept of this casual dining restaurant by the same group as Red Velvet Cupcakes. Fresh food cooked to order and a bit of a California style menu.

Meh. Decent. Came here because the Groupon was such a good deal, but I got to experience the business… They definitely pile up the food, but it wasn’t a big deal. I came in on a Monday night-I had gotten the Groupon because I saw they had seared tuna salad on their menu, so I ordered it… They ran out of tuna. Mind you this was a 5:00 Monday night, so clearly they didn’t even plan on having tuna for dinner this day. Argh. According to them, tuna is only sent in fresh on certain days of the week… well if you don’t have it everyday, it shouldn’t be on your menu everyday!!! So I got the chicken Cobb salad. Here’s the menu ingredient listing: grilled chicken, shucked corn, tomato wedges, bacon, egg, avocado purée, chives, blue cheese, romaine, red wine vinaigrette Ended up being nothing amazing. …basically I ate tons of ICEBERG lettuce, corn, tomato and a little blue cheese with less than 3oz of over-grilled chicken. What happened to the egg, avocado, chives, and red wine vinaigrette??? The groupon came with a cupcake. I usually love Red Velvet, but they obviously don’t make them fresh here so it’s not the same. It was drier than I remember their cupcakes being, and the frosting wasn’t that great, either. Sigh. Maybe I will come back for the seared tuna and try again.

Tried this place twice on a Groupon & I’ve given up. $ 14 for a Seared Tuna entrée gets you a plate full of salad, heavy mashed potatoes, and three tiny pieces of oddly colored, cold, unseasoned seared tuna. The quality of the tuna was seriously nasty — I’m amazed that I didn’t get sick. I asked for their signature hot sauce, and they only had a small amount in a giant bottle in the fridge. The sauce was all over the bottle and cap & I had to bring the bottle back to the staff to clean off & unclog the bottle before I could use it. Their classic grilled cheese is boring. nothing to it. They only get 2 stars due to the cupcakes(try the vegan ones, they taste the best). I give this place less than a year before they go out of business.

Chicken Connoisseur approved… Chicken prosciutto, cuban, and marinated steak flank were all great. Large side salad is also a plus. Carrot cake cupcake is worth the trip alone. The chicken prosciutto with homemade hot sauce is handjob-worthy. The Chicken C will be back.

I went to this place a few nights ago with my boyfriend using a groupon — it was our first time there. I thought this place had a great concept of «slow food fast». You get in line, order off the menu, pay, seat yourself, and when the food comes you pick it up yourself. This was nice because you didn’t have to tip or anything for waiter service. We order the steak, mashed potatoes, and salad plus 2 free cupcakes. The steaks were supposed to be medium rare, his was well done and mine was pretty medium. I still thought it was good and his was still good but he was a little disappointed. I think if we would have taken it back, they would have remade it for us but we were okay with it. I got the gluten free vanilla cupcake — AMAZING. He got the peanut butter cup, he said it was great. All in All — it was a good restaurant and I would go back.

We were in the area and decided to stop in. I love the concept of slow food fast. I got the Mr. Crispy(croque monsieur). It was very good but I would prefer to pay 1 dollar more for a Mrs. Cripsy — with the over easy fried egg on top. The salad that comes with the meal is huge and really good. I would like a little more acid in the salad dressing. I will be back!

We chose this restaurant because we needed a quick but nice dinner because we had a child with us. This is a fast casual place where you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. We ordered 4 entrees(Croque Monsieur, the Cuban, Steak and mashed potato plate, and the Beet and goat cheese salad), 2 glasses of wine, and 2 soft drinks for $ 60. All of our meals were good. We got good food in a setting that was kid friendly and fast.

I waver between two and three stars with this place, but end up giving it three because its one of a few«I feel like being healthy» places to eat in the area. Although, I’d have to agree with others that the food is just average. Got the poached peach salad with proscuitto and endives, etc(see pic) and my dining partner in crime got the tuna. Oh except they were out of peaches, so they asked if pear was ok. Not really, but whatever. The actual salad didn’t have much flavor to the dressing and the endives were bitter, so the salad ended up tasting like a bitter salad with oil and pear and proscuitto. Healhy– maybe. Tasty– not really. Then the tuna that they normally have was out as well, so instead they substituted it with some other fish, and overcooked it. The mashed potatoes and the herb salad it came with were pretty tasty though. The place is cute and unique, and if you’re looking for a heathy option in Clarendon it’s honestly worth a try. Don’t expect to be wowed with amazingly tasty food though!

REALLY a fan of this place! I came in to use a groupon, which turned out to be an awesome deal — $ 15 or two entrees and 2 cupcakes — and for them too because I’ll definitely be back. The place is kinda«panera» style where you order at the counter and then take a seat and they call your name when your food is ready. My roommate and I each had the flank steak dinner — comes with red skin smashed potatoes and mixed green salad, and it was delicious! The steak was perfectly marinated and cooked — pink in the center, the citrus dressing was delicious and had just the right amount and the potatoes… fabulous. To finish out the meal, I took one of the employee’s suggestion and tried the Mexican chocolate cupcake and MANAM I GLAD I DID — it was so unique and fantastic. My roommate had the hazelnut and that was good, but not as good as the Mexican chocolate. The staff was helpful and friendly, the meals were moderately priced — I think $ 12.50 is the most expensive, the food came out quickly, and the place was clean. I will definitely be returning in the very near future!

This place is great if you’re a fan of the«vegetables make up 60% of my plate» group. I had the flank steak sandwich and was surprised that a great portion of my plate was mixed greens. At $ 10.50 plus tax, it was like I ordered a salad and received a sandwich as a bonus. The flank steak sandwich was delish, too. I’m sure they can cook your meat to your preference, but it was nice and pink, the way I like it.

I ate here again a couple times and tried: $ 10 Veggie sandwich: this sandwich is GOOD. loads of stuff packed into it, to the point where its sort of open face by necessity. some of the things in it are unexpectedly pickled in lovely flavours. Also comes with salad. $ 10 Rabbit salad: see photo. This salad was large and delicious, and I felt mad healthy as I ate it. The entire braised carrot on the side is a really nice touch. It had a decent amount of pesto lurking throughout as well, being delicious. Avoid if you dislike frisee though. The prices here are definitely steep, but the food is really top notch. EDIT: they redid the menu and everything I like to order dropped by ~ $ 2!

Fresh off the plane on a recent trip to D.C., we found ourselves roaming the streets of Clarendon. As if the food gods were smiling on us, we ran smack into the newest addition to the neighborhood, Rabbit. Between the tag line of «Slow food fast,» the attached Red Velvet Cupcakery and the one open patio table calling our names, we were sold hook, line and sinker on this den of culinary zen.(Also, who can say no to a bunny in a carrot car??) Rabbit delivered on its promise and then some. Six minutes from the time we placed our order, Jeff and I were munching on some fine looking lunches. Rabbit’s Grilled Peach and Prosciutto salad(arugula, ricotta, pine nuts, peaches, prosciutto) and The Harvey(a gourmet grilled cheese with roasted red peppers) made for healthy fare with all the pinnings of sinful comfort food. Blame it on the Bunny Juice(carrot juice blended with just a touch of apple juice for sweetness), but at the meal’s end, we felt the need to balance our vegetable yin with some cupcake yang(by which I mean I was totally bullied by the Red Velvet gang into purchasing a gluten-free Dark Angel — practically force-fed… it was awful). Seriously, though — best GF-baked-good-thing I’ve had in ages. It haunts me nightly :)

I have to really base this review on the food itself. There are definitely a lot of issues they need to iron out. Everything Lauren K. said regarding logistics is indeed true. However, the menu is great. Co-worker had the steak with mashed potatoes, I had the nicoise salad and both were outstanding. Clarendon is full of places that somehow get by and have success on a an average quality of food and Rabbit’s food stands out at least. This is definitely a strong contender for people who look for good salad options. Sure, if you claim to do slow food fast, you’ve got to own up to that, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that they’ve re-worked some of their procedures by the time I go again next week.(Taking people’s names and then calling them out when the order is ready should only be applied to to-go orders. People who dine in should have the food delivered to them, plenty of fast-ish food places do that).
