Safeway

Today I have shopped at Safeway for the last time. Out of nine visits in the last month and a half — 10 items have not scanned that it is a sale item — today it happened yet again. Not to mention a checker charging me twice for a $ 26 turkey. Every time I have to go back into the store to get my money back and most of the time you have to wait awhile for somebody at the ‘customer service’ desk to appear. When I asked a woman who was refunding my money what the problem was — she said that I had to ‘keep an eye on the register at all times’ — really? How am I suppose to do that when I am unloading my cart? Nobody ever apologizes for the problem — not once. This never happened at Haggen — not once. Never again Safeway for me.

I’ve tried to use their Western Union services a couple times and honestly I don’t even know why they are offered or advertised. Couldn’t cash a check one time — and not a personal check, but a payroll company check. That was probably in ²⁰¹²⁄₂₀₁₃. Far more recently I was looking to purchase a vehicle. Had money wired to Western Union and was set to meet the owner of the vehicle shortly after. Well, they wouldn’t cash the give me cash. I tried to come up with other solutions and both the employee and the manager were FAR from helpful. Continued to tell me that all they could give me was checks and I could go cash them at a bank (it was a Sunday). Then told me that I could go to different Western Unions at different Safeway locations and cash one check at each Safeway location (would have taken me at least 6 Safeway stops). Finally called Moneytree and they would cash all the checks at once. Turns out the Safeway employee didn’t even sign them all! Had to go back again — completely wasted my time. Again, I don’t even know why they offer Western Union services!

Considering the very few grocer options in Arlington, especially now that Haggen’s is gone, this is about as good as you’re gonna get!
Let’s review the options:
— Wal*Mart
— Safeway at Smoke-​a-​Joint
The aforementioned options are located in the filth-​ridden Smokey Point shopping complex bordering Marysville. Little is done to keep the riff-​raft, drug dealing bums out of the complex. Alas, Safeway uptown is your best bet!
Albeit a tad smaller than the Smokey Point Safeway, one can still find most necessities. In general, the site is a heck of a lot cleaner and I’ll bet you won’t be accosted for «gas money» on your way in-​or-​out of the store!
I have never had a poor experience here. Employees are friendly, service is fast (check-​out is faster than Smokey Point), and again MUCH cleaner!

Very nice store. The employees are nice and helpful.
Very good bakery and meat department. Sometimes it’s hard to find items and they need a few more isles to add other products.

Luv this store and Gas station. GAS IS ALWAYS cheapest at any safeway dont lose out on your rewards just for spending money on everyday items. Love the ben. n jerrys ice cream, fresh produce and chocolate almonds. Gas is big savings.

I grow up with my parents going to shop at Safeways… their customer service has gone down hill! Need to bring customer service back in 2014 !!! What do you say Safeways?!

This is a really nice place to shop during the day. I would say to stick to day shopping because at night all the high school kids hang around the parking lot and harass other people.

If you like to be ignored and treated like you are the most annoying person on the planet go ahead a shop here! They were out of most the things I needed. Simple things like shampoo and yogurt. I had to hunt down somebody to help me find what I was looking for, and when I found somebody they rolled their eyes and pointed in a general direction and said «over there somewhere». Thanks for nothing. When I finally decided to just give up and buy my things the check stand attendant looked so annoyed and was pretty much throwing my groceries to the bagger who then threw them in my cart. Glad I didn’t have any eggs. Needless to say I switched my pharmacy and will never be going back to that Safeway.

The parcel was out emptying the garbage. He stopped, made eye contact with me… and said «have a good day Ma’am»…WOW…I like that.
