Shawnee Apartments

I have lived here for 1 ½ years and in the beginning, it wasn’t too bad. Then came the roaches. No matter how clean we kept the apartment, there was an entire building infestation of two different types all summer this summer. They only put down food bait and never fumigated, so I know that the roaches will be back. SSOOOOO gross to go to the restroom and see roaches scurrying to hide. They then proceeded to change the laundry machines. Would’ve been a nice upgrade except these machines are a nightmare and have cost us hundreds more in laundry costs because they keep breaking. It has been horrifying to get laundry done and I am going to have to go to a laundromat– not the end of the world, but in a place that is supposed to offer laundry facilities, definitely a downer. The only thing that is great about this place is Terri and the maintenance folk. They’re always kind and happy, willing to address issues. Unfortunately, the Management company themselves come across as cheapskates. Our counter literally fell apart and when requesting maintenance, all they offered was to glue the laminate back on. Our refrigerator had a piece that broke and instead of allowing a new part to be ordered, the maintenance man had to finagle something together. I call it my Frankenstein Fridge.
Most of the residents are decent folk, but there are some that are plain rude-​they purposely break the washers, make false claims about things, and treat Terri poorly. I love Terri and cannot believe the way some of the residents treat her.
If you’re looking for a great place to live, I would tell you to weigh what you really are looking for against the cons of this place. I am okay with living here for the price of rent and some of my neighbors, but I would definitely have chosen a different place to live originally had I known all the stuff that would be happening to make life inconvenient here.

Everything’s great minus the parcor «hardwood» floors. Well managed and good location.
