Ordered Sashimi two times and both times the fish were fresh and tasty. The price is small. My favorite is Toro(Fatty tuna) which in some restaurants one order of Tora sashimi can cost up to $ 16. Here, 3 orders of Toro+3 orders of Salmon+ 1 order of Ikura in total is only $ 38. When you see long line, don’t get freak out, the chef works fast. Take home only, haven’t sit at the counter yet.

I ordered a miso soup and a California roll, even with four people in front of me waiting and five people sitting down waiting I still got my order within 20 minutes. There is a husband an wife that run the small counter. They seem to work pretty quickly and the food is amazing. The miso was hot and had just the right amount of tofu and seaweed. The California roll had avocado, crab meat, and cucumber on the inside. I’m used to having this plus roe on the inside but I’m not sure they have roe here. I would definitely be going back for more.

I asked for a specialty roll not on their menu and they did it perfectly! They have a great selection of pre-made sushi for on the go and will happily dish you up something to take or to sit at the bar and enjoy! The service was quick and very friendly and the location was super convenient! Can’t wait to come back!

Great for lunch ! Reasonably priced compared to the rest of the market. The sushi chef always makes my rolls tight and pretty. Everything is always fresh. Plus, with the addition of Miso Soup, it makes a great and filing meal.

Korean owned Japanese restaurant. Order Spicy Noodle Special, expecting it to be udon or some sort of korean noodle soup. Turned out to be Nongshim Shin Instant Noodles! I feel so robbed! Paid 11 bucks for instant noodles!

These people are legit. It’s a hole in the wall sushi place in the crystal city underground thing that you have to go to. The menu isn’t extensive but you’ll find what you want if you like sushi in general. It’s a two person operation with a kitchen in the back and and actual counter in the front. There are about four seats that you can sit at but my friend and I just chose to get our food to go and sit in the food court area. I think the reason why I give five stars is because they were such good people, the food was reasonably priced(and for what they give you wow I would say it’s definitely worth the money), and they gave my friend and I a water for waiting for the sushi to be made. It’s a Korean couple that makes the sushi right in front of you. The woman does the miso soup and the man makes the sushi. It will take about five to ten minutes to get your food based on the line but I think it’s worth it. I got the lunch bento which came w two pieces of tempura, miso soup, California roll, salad, marinated spicy pickled radish, edamame, wasabi, and a hefty portion of Korean rice and yum stir fried meat. Yes you may say that because it isn’t a Japanese person that does it it is not legit, but for someone who has high standards for Korean food and sushi, they hit it spot on. I haven’t had such good marinated chicken in so long and because they gave me so much food I had enough rice and meat to put in my miso soup container to freeze for the future. The lady and man speak Korean so if you’re Korean make sure to say hi :) they’re actually very accommodating and I could sense that they are nice people at their core. In all I probably paid about 11.25 for my meal and my friend who got the tuna roll and noodles paid about 10. She always asks you if you want miso soup and tries to be very genuine w her customers. Her face is pretty stoic but you can tell that she wants to serve you good food. There is also premade sushi ready to be paid for if you just want to grab and go. I understand that the rest of the prices may be steeper because they are a very small operation and as we all know good fish is expensive. Try them out you’re not going to be disappointed. I had been in such a terrible mood in the morning but because of the great customer service it really started to put the rest of my day in perspective. To the owners if you’re reading this:. . !

Sushi Garden is a small counter tucked away in the Crystal City Undergound near the metro. I was attracted to this place by the crowds and lines during lunch. Only have about 6 bar seats it’s more of a TO –GO type place. They offer ready to go prepared boxes in a variety of choices. Also, Ala carte, the fresh fish and ingredients visable through the glass. Watch as the sushi chef slices and prepares your sushi to order. The best and freshest I have had in this area! Yummm. You have to give them a try, well made, very fresh and reasonably priced for what you get. You are always greeted with a pleasant smile and helpful service.

Ever on the quest for good sushi, I’m not one to turn away from little mom n pop shops even if they are nestled away in a tunnel of a train station or pedway. Afterall isnt that where all the hidden gems hide? Unfortunately Sushi Garden isnt one of those. Ordered one speciality roll that was supposed to have salmon, tuna, yellowtail and avocado but was missing the salmon when it came through. The pieces of sashimi were about an inch wide and quarter of an inch thick… tiny by sashimi/nigiri standards. All in all good for a quick bite, but not some place I’d seek out again.

It’s been while… let me sit at the small eat in counter and pretend I am in Tokyo Station(and not in Crystal City — not that there’s anything wrong with CC). Here at Sushi Garden, the rolls are expertly wrapped: tight, perfect amount of rice, which do not fall apart upon pick up with chop sticks, and most importantly taste DELICIOUS. Our sushi chef is now speaking English and taking orders(which during my last visit was handled by a younger staff). Food is fresh and consistently good.

Tucked away in the tunnels of Crystal City is this small little sushi joint, with enough seating for about 4 people. The prices are a tad bit steep, but mostly when you order the fancier rolls. The quality is quite good, with the fish tasting fresh. They make the rolls to order which is a nice added touch. I opted for a shrimp tempura roll, an eel roll and your typical california roll. All relatively good, with this particular shrimp tempura roll having cream cheese in it? Unexpected, not sure if I liked it at first, but grew to appreciate it by the end. It all came down to about $ 18, which I think isn’t too bad. Perfect place for a quick sushi pick-me-up! Stop by after a long day at work to either grab and go, or to sit down and get some nice one-on-one service!

It’s fun to have a professional make sushi for you right on the busy Metro corridor. Perhaps business was slow because our chef made us each a complimentary tasty little snowcone-shaped seaweed thing. Everything was very fresh. I only wish they served adult beverages. Lots of personal attention here because there’s only seating for four.

Pretty good sushi. It’s a tiny bit pricey but quick, and good. My sushi/sashimi combo came with miso soup, which was good. However, they only had bottled water, no tap water for counter service, which surprised me. I do plan to come back. They’re fast, plentiful, and good.

I really love the place. It has just 4 seats at the sushi bar and a takeaway. The sushi is always fresh since they make all orders right the way in front of you. They can also make something for you if it’s not on the menu! I have to say though that it is a little bit pricy but it worth it!

The sushi here is fresh, but there aren’t that many options. The guy who works there is definitely kind and service-oriented, even when the customers are unnecessarily rude. The rice is a little sweet for my liking, but I would recommend Trio Amigo roll and the Anti-Rainbow roll. There is a large quantity of fish – a healthy amount in proportion to the rice. The atmosphere is a bit lacking, as it’s basically just a long side window in near the metro entrance, but I highly recommend for a quick lunch or for take out.

I was initially going to give this place 3 stars because, though the sushi is good, it’s also a bit unreasonably priced. However, after visiting Sushi Garden a second time, I realized that it’s perfect on-the-go sushi. And the sushi is always fresh and full of really delicious flavors and sauces. I’ve ordered several rolls from here, though I don’t remember the names of any of them — there have been spicy rolls, rainbow rolls, spicy tuna rolls, eel rolls, etc. They have quite a variety of rolls here and the chefs will make it fresh in front of you if you sit there to eat(they do have a few chairs and a small counter, if you don’t feel like eating your food on the go). The prices are a bit high(you can end up paying $ 20 for two rolls), but the rolls themselves are quite filling and delicious. It’s quite convenient for people staying at the Crystal City Marriott hotel and is quite near the metro.

3 for the convenience. 3 for taste. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything spectacular. Got a spicy tuna roll and an angel hair roll. Not sure how fresh the fish was. A little pricey for the quality.

Crystal city has it’s ups and downs but if you’re down under and need a quick snack, try the sushi garden. I had the kabuki roll and it proved delightful. I will be back as soon as is possible.

A real diamond in the rough in the Crystal City underground strip mall. It doesn’t look like more than a carryout sushi joint, but if you go during off-peak hours and sit down to eat, the chefs make your sushi right in front of you. The chef I met on Saturday, aside from being a really nice guy, trained in Japan for more than 10 years! The sushi itself is of good quality. I’m not a fan of «special rolls» anywhere, but I like good ol’ nigiri and they do a great job of it at reasonable prices(considering this is the DC area).

This underground sushi stand is great place to grab a quick bite to eat. With limited seating(4 chairs at the bar) this stand is setup primarily for carry-out. My group was lucky enough to arrive early and sit at the bar where we got to watch the skilled chef prepare our sushi. I opt’ed to try a few of their rolls which were excellent. The basics are all there and the menu has a few creative twists. Definitely worth a stop if your craving sushi. Don’t be put off by the fact that it’s in what, for all intensive purposes, is an underground metro walkway.
