What a nice way to spend an afternoon. The parking was free. Lots of booths to shop at. They even had rides for children. I had some delicious strudel and mulled wine. My only complaint is the potty situation portapotty and hand sanitizer– yuck. Food and drink are with coupons. Cash or charge if you want to purchase from one of the shops. They had wonderful beer steins.

I was a lot smaller than I expected and several of the booths were closed on Sunday afternoon. What really disappointed me was the use of coupons to buy food, which was a big part of the whole market. I hate coupons, needless to say I didn’t buy anything, besides the food prices with coupons at a $ 1 each was outrageous. It not like your stuck inside a ball game and the food prices are something you must pay when you can just go to any nearby restaurant and get a full meal for the price of a snack. However the vendors did have some interesting things to sell.

A nice attempt at recreating the magic of a German Christmas market It’s very small, stretching only along one side of the Ballpark, but entry is free. The little wooden stands do remind me of a German market, so they got the atmosphere right, and they have a god variety of foods and beer choices, but the prices are way too high. A brat on a roll with Sauerkraut, even though good, is not worth $ 8! They also have pony rides($ 5) and entertainment. With a few improvements, like making it bigger, maybe rethinking the pricing, this could be a great slice of German Christmas culture in North Texas.

My boyfriend and I went last saturday to the Texas Christkindl market. I had been bugging, crying and nagging my sweet bf to do something Christmas themed. So when the email for this event came via Unilocal I thought this would be a great compromise, he gets beer and I get Christmas shopping! WINNER! Well the event is FREE! Awesome! You have to buy tickets for beer and food. It isn’t cheap! But on par for those types of events. $ 6 – 7 for the boozes and $ 6 – 11 for german food. Now you have the facts, here is my thoughts. They had 4 – 5 german beers I first got a hefeweizen and the boy got pilsners. It might have only been 10:30am and we were drinking, don’t judge! Then we walked around and looked at the vendors. I was disappointed there wasn’t more christmas themed vendors, only 3 if I remember correctly. There was a man making«wood art» wow he was amazing! Also they had these wooden mugs, very cool. The rest of the vendors were all over the place from Indian stuff to little girls bows. The big Christmas store was very neat with VERY expensive things, watch your kids! They had really cool German smokers and pyramids! By this time we need more booze! I opted for the mulled wine and the bf got another beer. The wine was the highlight of the day! At this time we needed more tickets so we figured out what we wanted to eat, and they did let us buy the exact number of tickets! For lunch I got the wienerschnitzel it was ok for truck good. I smothered it in sauerkraut and spicy mustard. Bf had the Brat, he was happy! Beer+meat=happy bf. I thought the market would have been a bit bigger. Touch disappointed. OHTHEYDIDHAVEPONYRIDES!
