Taos cows! Being my first time in Taos and hearing about it being one of the best ice cream places in New Mexico, I had to try it. I’ll give it 5 stars just for having a catchy name because I’m pretty sure I said it a hundred times afterwards. The ice cream was so good and creamy. I had the pistachio white chocolate and man was that good. I sampled the raspberry dark chocolate as well and it was also good. If you like ice cream, this is definitely a place to try.

My family and I were visiting Taos for the first time so my kids could play in the snow(we live in South Texas). We are always down for a good burger but when the status quo is Wendy’s a good burger can be difficult to find. The fried pickles and the jalapeño bottle caps were the shit. Not too greasy and the ranch was mixed with something that made it very tasty. I had the BBQ blue and my wife had the Christmas burger. The kids had sliders. The biggest and best thing was we were allowed to have our burger cooked to temp. This to me signifies that the meat is extremely fresh… And it was, the burgers were juicy and expertly seasoned, even the sliders, though those were slightly overcooked. That’s about it… We would go again and I don’t waste money on bad food I have the soul of a fat person.

I am addicted to their cinnamon ice cream. The only reason that I can’t give five stars, is that they don’t have it every time I drive up to Arroyo Seco.

Surely service. We showed up 15 minutes before closing. The grumpy employee started taking down the the signs showing flavors and said he couldn’t scoop the ice cream we wanted because it just came out of the freezer.

Taos Cow is the cutest little ice cream shop in Taos, and their flavors are creative and delicious! The store has plenty of personality, and their«single» scoops are two large heaping mountains of ice cream, which was a pleasant surprise! The shop is nestled next to a local yarn store and next to other tamale houses and restaurants. Definitely a must-visit, and if I remember correctly they’re pretty well-known for having some of the best ice cream. Would love to return.

Solid ice cream and very good sandwiches(who know pastrami in rural NM could be this good)? Service can be painfully slow — good thing you’re on vacation, right?

We learned about Taos Cow ice cream when we traveled through Santa Fe because Shake Foundation proudly uses their ice cream in their delicious shakes. So when we got to Taos we figured it would be everywhere in town. Instead, we had to make the 20 minute drive to this location. Still, was so hopeful that it would be worth the drive. So sadly disappointed. First, the girls behind the counter were either spacey or unfriendly, but more importantly, There was practically no «cream» in any of the 3 flavors we had: just icy frozen dessert that tasted like their freezers had broken down for a few days and this was the refrozen batch. Yuck.

Just a month ago was the first time that I have ever been to Taos Cow and I was truly excited. The ice cream was great and I thought their flavors were very original. Unfortunately this last weekend I stopped in on my way up the mountain for a simple iced coffee and didn’t realize till I had finished the entire thing that a dead fly had been in my drink the entire time! How does that even happen?! It happens when health codes are not being upheld and the place is being run rather nonchalantly. I saw multiple people go behind the counter who were not even working! Now I am wondering what kind of «sterile» environment is that ice cream being made in. Next time I want some extra protein in my drink I think I will stick to protein powder. Thanks.

How Now, Taos Cow? Located in the neat little town of Arroyo Seco, this great little ice cream shop sells some great flavors. We especially liked the Mexican chocolate and the raspberry with chocolate chunks. There is nice seating outside next to the stream that runs behind the store.

i consider myself to be somewhat of an ice cream conniseur, and i have to say that this might be an example of the best ice cream i’ve had in a long time. with unique flavors, you’ll spend a long time just choosing and tasting the different options. absolutely loved it. 1000000⁄10. best ice cream ever. giant chunks of chocolate and fresh mint in a waffle cone… what can be better.

Almond milk in your latte and the best lavender ice cream I’ve ever tasted. The food is delicious and of course you can add green chili to everything!

Great ice cream, good sandwiches, excellent coffee drinks, in a cool location in Arryo Seco off the Taos Sky Valley road. I usually stop in for a coffee drink(latte, mocha, hot chocolate) on my way to Taos Ski Valley. Lunches are great too. My favorite is the turkey and brie sandwich, especially if I want to get food coma and nap the rest of the day. They do have sloooow internet, and it is ok to work on your laptop there. Overall, worth checking out the next time your are in Seco.

The ice cream at this place is real! 100% real cream and ingredients. The best! Sandwiches and food as well are good. Fresh ingredients always. Why 3 stars? They recently stopped allowing pets to eat outside with their owner. Not sure what the issue was or is, but we always travel with our dog. We can eat at most the restaurants on the Taos Plaza. The Bent Street Café carries a dessert made with Taos Cow ice cream, so I guess that will have to do.

I have been visiting this place off and on for the better part of 11 years. The only thing that keeps me from consistently visiting is that I now live out of town. Let me start off by saying that this has to be some of the very best original ice cream that New Mexico has to offer. Everything that I have tried here to date has been mind-blowingly(is that a word?) good. Today I brought out the family for a special departure treat before we left back to ABQ. We had a scoop each of lavender, white chocolate pistachio, and peach. The whole family could not keep their smackers off each other’s ice creams. I will admit that the lavender flavor can start to taste a bit Carmex-like after you’ve eaten it for a bit, but it is so good that you will probably finish the whole thing. Their use of real ingredients is what really attracts me to this place. For example, in the lavender, you actually see pieces of the plant that were mixed in. My only turn off with this place is the inconsistency of their staff. In particular, there is an older gentleman that works here that will short the heck out of your portion amount. So do look out for that. As long as he’s not there, the other servers often load you up a good sized scoop. The prices are a tad bit high but considering that it is all homemade it is more than worth it. They also offer food here but I have never got around to trying it. If you are in the taos/arroyo seco area, definitely give this place a try.

Super cute place in Arroyo Seco! This place must do a great business feeding delicious treats to all the skiers on their way to and from the mountain! Their menu looked like they had a variety of delicious things to get, but we got the ice cream, which is why the review is only 4 stars instead of 5. Instead of the ice cream being smooth and creamy, it was on the icier /slushier side. So while we totally enjoyed stopping in here after skiing, the actual ice cream we got was only decent!

When staying in Taos we were told it would be well worth our while to take a short trip out to Arroyo Seco to check out local art and of course, amazing ice cream. Everyone is great from when you walk in to when you leave. The mood if festive, the people watching great, and the line moves fast. The flavors are unique and the Piñón Caramel had chunks of caramel the size of my thumb! We also tried a Cherry Ice cream that was just the best. Will definitely be back next time I am in the area!

4.5 stars This place was recommended to us by locals during our visit to NM, so we made it a point to come here and glad we did! Hot Turkey and Brie Sandwich with mixed greens, honey mustard, and balsamic vinaigrette on a ciabatta roll, served with a pickle and chips — Excellent ratio of meat to greens and the taste, especially of the ciabatta roll itself, was so good. Lots of melted gooey Brie, offset by the sweet sharpness of the honey mustard, and a nice helping of thin-sliced turkey. Lavender Ice Cream, which is their rGBH-free Sweet Cream ice cream base flavored with organic lavender from Los Poblanos in Los Ranchos de ABQ, in a Waffle Cone — This smelled amazing when I got it; I literally couldn’t stop sniffing it for a few moments! There were bits of lavender mixed throughout, making it so incredibly fragrant. The taste and texture was superb, with the lavender flavor gradually emerging the longer I held the ice cream in my mouth and the more I ate. Cone was not too sweet, so it complemented the ice cream well. If I had to nitpick, it would be that the ice cream base could be just a tad less sweet to let more lavender shine through. Still worth it though. M/F single occupancy restrooms in the back and outdoor seating available.
