I have come here many times for the Somasa and everyone loves these fresh crispy somasa. Easy parking if you get here before 11:45 am. The service is quickest at these non rush hour times. I love their somasa.

Extremely poor and pathetic. We ordered«makka di Roti and saag» and we trashed it right away as saag was uncooked and Roti was terrible in taste, it was actually«besan atta». Jalebi and samosa were ok.

Worst food ever! We were here on monday and since everything was closed had no choice but to eat here. We ordered pani puri since my daughter was craving 1. Had to throw the entire thing in trash since the pani had gone bad and did not want her to have tummy ache. I wonder how do they even serve such kinda food. what a waste of money. Aviod such places.

What can you say, the folks at Ambala are as usual great folks who treat you nice and professionally and offer a top quality product, it is always a joy to go to Ambala for both the people and the goodies.

I have been coming here since I stopped going to Bombay sweets across the street. It’s been a year or so but I’m so happy I gave it a shot! First off, service is fast and they are so friendly and kind. I really like that about this place. Their sweets are fresh and delicious! And it’s always busy so you know it’s a great place! I’ve even turned a few of my friends to this place from the other one. So all in all, great service, very nice and pleasant people, and fresh sweets! Yum! I haven’t tried any of the food but I’m sure it’s just as good! Keep it up guys!

I’ve been coming here since I was kid, given the close proximity for wholesome Indian Punjabi snacks. As you may know, Ambala is in the strip known as Little India in the small city of Artesia off the 91 Freeway. Filled with shops for your Indian groceries, whole spices, and restaurants, Ambala has reigned supreme for over 20 years. The guy behind the counter with the turban, who I call Happy Singh, is a charming and compassionate man always willing to offer you tea and tell you about snacks. This place is a favorite among Unilocalers, but for me it brings together memories of eating the best ras malai in Southern California. Better than anything in a box, these guys make it here the old fashioned way, with the malai(little round curd patties made from milk) to be fairly large. The milk with the malai is sweeter than a baby’s bottom. It’s just damn good. If you want an alternative, go for the jalebi. These two are staple desserts. Other favorites include halwa puri and papri chaat. Halwa puri is basically three things: two pieces of fried flat bread, garbanzo beans/chick peas in a sauce(not hot but spicy), and halwa(an indian sweet). You’re basically supposed to combine the ingredients and eat by tearing pieces off the flat bread and holding the other items in them. It’s a sweet and savory item, that isn’t too spicy. The other item, papri chaat, is one my friend Vik goes nuts over. A papri chaat is a snack dish that’s more of a potputrri of items which include: purri(little fried crunchy shells that can be filled with the other contents), tamarind chutney, mint green chutney, onions, chick peas, yogurt/raita, and spiced potato. It’s delicious, but not for the light-hearted stomach. I would suggest no more than one per person, and to eat it at Ambala rather than taking it to go. Parking is ample on weekdays, but weekends may be near impossible. Consider walking from a distance and checking out other shops if you’re here on a weekend. 186th, a street nearby, may be your best option. I hope you enjoy Ambala as much as I have over the years, and ask ‘ol Happy of everything on the menu. He loves new faces.

I ordered the Channa Samosa. The portions were huge, however the Samosa tasted a little bit stale. The Channa Samosa was also sweet. I like mine a little bit spicy and this option was not given to me. The servers behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. My friends and I also ordered a sweet with tea. I do not remember the name of the sweet, but it was quite tasty.

Best vegetarian sweet and savory snacks! Love their Chana batura, samosa and papri chaat. Excellent selection of sweets and nimkos. It can get very busy and crowded but service is usually good too.

The staffs here are so sweet. I was here for the first time and didn’t have any clue!!! I was standing at the cash register dumbfounded for a while… Guess WHAT? The cashier let me try almost everything in the dessert section. Crazy generous, right? He even let me take my time to decide which one to get — - so patient!!! I felt so welcomed and valued as a customer. I love you guys… I will visit again and again. kisses and hugs

Such a great experience every time I come! This time no exception. Wonderful customer service from Deepak and Nishant. Ordered sugarcane juice and pani puri, so good! There was some confusion on what Unilocal offer I could redeem so Deepak made amends with doodh pedas! Yummy! Also complimentary chai! Doesn’t get better!

Just like all the other sweets and snacks shops located along Pioneer Blvd in Little India, this shop has all the favorite traditional snacks and vegetarian meals. I saw on Unilocal that they had papdi chaat(my favorite), most shops here should have it but this one looked the best to me and that’s why I chose Ambala over the others. The way they make it is of prime importance to me, I hate it when I order it at other places and it’s served without all the ingredients or chutneys. Ambala makes it the same way, or actually better than the only place I’ve tried that used to make it the way I preferred(sadly it closed down). Based on cleanliness alone this place could have easily received two stars, but I give them a pass because of the staff’s hospitality. Their chaat was simply that good that it deserves four stars.

This place is probably one of my favorite sweet and snack shops in Artesia. There are a lot to choose from, but I like this one for the freshness of their sweets. My roomie and I ordered: –Samosa chaat(had 2 large samosas in it) –Pani puri(was low on the stuffing) –Alu tikki chaat(same toppings as the samosa chaat) –Halva puri(didn’t come with much halva) –Rass malai(Omg! Pieces of heaven!) The place wasn’t the cleanest. Definitely dhaba style food. The service was fast, which I appreciated. Biggest negative — the AC was non-functional or non-existent. On a 90 degree day like today, it was sweltering inside!

So this is actually from the beginning of the year. I’m just super lazy with reviews sometimes. I went with my uncles, cousins, and parents. The service was pretty slow considering there was no one else in the restaurant. The food wasn’t worth it, to be honest. The sweets at this place, on the other hand. Great. One of my cousins accidentally dropped a plate on the floor and the guy behind the counter never bothered to have it cleaned up. The entire time we were there. We apologized as we left he just said«don’t worry, someone will clean it up.» Okay, cool. Well thanks.

My family and I have been enjoying the food at Ambala for years(even when I lived in the Bay Area this was the place we would go to when we visited Artesia). The staff is always courteous. My friends and I usually go there and open a tab and start ordering to our heart’s content. I love their Papri Chaat. If you are looking for«Thaalis» or something fancy this is not the place. As their name clearly states«Sweets and Snacks.» That being said their sweets and snacks are great. I know there are a lot of places to eat on Pioneer Blvd but there is a reason that most of the other places have come and gone but Ambala Sweets and Snacks has survived for 2 – 3 decades. Its the only place I will eat when I make the trip to Artesia.

The Masala Dosa is HUGE and at $ 4.99 is a sharable size for 2 or maybe even 3 people to snack on. The Mango Lassi drink is very sweet, reminiscent of the Chinese Mango Pudding in sort, but as a drink, so is very tasty, and only $ 2.49 This location is conveniently located near all of the Indian(Asian Indian, as opposed to Native American Indian) retailers in the neighborhood community. The Sambat Curry cup/bowl of soup that comes with the Masala Dosa is a bit greasy/oily looking, due to she spiced oil, but is very tasty and delicious. The service here is friendly and fast, you order at the counter then pick it up and then pay, it’s simple and easy. Parking can be tough, but not impossible. There’s a back lot, so if you can’t find front parking, either go back onto the street or go turn right at the end an seek out spaces in back(and there’s an exit there too, so you won’t be boxed in to then try to get back out if full).
