Last place that i would want to have a meal. The chutney was stale, the food was salty, the chicken dishes were a disaster, not to mention every single dish was extremely oily. I do NOT recommend this to anyone. Very disappointed.

would have given worst than one rating if possible. Kavita, the owner, is very rude arrogant person. She carries herself such a way that it makes paying customer feel that she is doing a favor serving them food. Service is slow and worst possible. Majority of staff do not know the menu. When ordered Moong Dosa they brought regular normal Dosa and did not offer to replace or not charge for it. We were party of 4. One person’s order came in 45 or so minutes. when that person was almost done with his meal and other person got his food a so forth. Meaning we were not able to have meal as a family. The owner(Kavita) passed by our table at least 5 times eye contacts were made but she failed to acknowledge us a single time. No one was checking on refills. Once the nightmare of eating there was over, I got the check. Paid with $ 100.00 bills Left token tip of $ 10.00. When I got up to leave a manager/waiter came running asking me if I paid? I said yes he said please wait. he kept on checking with staff. he came back to tell me «sorry you did not pay» meanwhile I show the staff who took my payment, I asked him what he did with my payment. That staff confirmed that I have made payment than only I was let go.

Please try to learn what is customer service. I paid money for mutton biryani where eggs are not good to eat with too much whole gram masala stuff. Not tastier food and not a good place for biryani. When I complained they said«we can’t do anything for your money not even they ready to offer anything »

Italian fine dining, the restaurant is beautiful with two particular sections one with mood lighting for a romantic dinner for two and a general section perfect for groups or families. I’ve been to several different Indian restaurants and usually opt for the buffets due to small servings however I was pleasantly surprised with the robust servings of food here at pickles. We ordered chili chicken, three cheese dosa, sambhar, tandoori shrimp and my new favorite beers Taj Mahal and Kingfisher. The chef Peravesh did an excellent job wth all our meals and Raj was an excellent server, the service was served quickly. I highly recommend this Indian restaurant to anyone!

A friend suggested that we should try this place for dinner and were amazed by the food. Great ambiance with plenty of choice. Pros: – Excellent taste – Very good quantity, compared to other restaurants – Made fresh to order(be prepared for a 30 minute wait, but it’s worth the wait) – Plenty of choice Cons: – Needs a new soap dispenser in the bathroom We are glad we went for dinner and it was a very pleasant experience. Will definitely visit them again and try more varieties.

I’ve been coming here for at least two years, maybe three. The lunch buffet for Monday through Thursday has been canceled. I think there is different pricing on the weekends for the buffet or the prices have gone up. Honestly it’s not worth paying $ 32.68 for lunch buffet for two. You would be better off ordering one plate and taking your leftovers home instead of eating just a little and paying double. The food is still good, but I’m not loving Pickles as much as I have in the past.

Great food, ok prices, atrocious service even with the majority of tables being empty. Better off taking your business elsewhere.

Good: Variety in menu & good ambiance and good for groups, Some items are really tasty . That’s all about the positives here and now let me get on to the negatives aspects which may out weigh positive . Horribly slow service is what I would start with, be prepared to spent 1:30 to 2:00 for a casual dinner and it’s not due to that fact that they are busy, you should be able to manage 5 – 6 tables when more 10 tables are empty . Secondly, there price is too high for the food they offer. I won’t paying that of they offer equally well service and also the sever are well trained. Been there 3 – 4 times and doubt that I will go again. Enough of trying them out thinking that it’s good next time. Also we mentioned couple of times to Mgmt there and they don’t seem to care enough.

Ambience — 5⁄5 Cleanliness — 4⁄5 Service — 2⁄5(the server expected no questions from us and was not happy to answer anything in detail). Quality of food — 2⁄5(the only reason I went to Pickles was for«Southern style fish fry». I expected a slice of fish being deep fried. I ended up getting oil-dripping soggy fish pakora. Never mind the disappointment; I would have been ok, if it was atleast not oil dripping. Chole Bature was not good as well. Corn soup was great.) Cost — 1⁄5(super costly. $ 14 for that fish pakora!). Quantity — 4⁄5(everything was super size. So order less. Everyone was seen picking their food home).

The worst Indian food ever. We ordered two vegetable curry — Malai kofta and Paneer Kaju. Kofta was a solid fried dough ball with uncooked inside. The most terrible was Paneer Kaju which tasted exactly like a south indian payasam(kheer) — Gasa Gase Payasam(Khus Khus Kheer) I do not recommend this place to any«vegetarian»

Dang what’s up with the and reviews. It looks like the buffet is the problem. stay away from the buffet if it sucks… The dinner was amazing. I have had a lot of Indian food recently since my sister was dating an Indian, so I felt like I could order alright. unfortunately there is not a picture on the menu for Americans to decipher what they are reading and NO descriptions either. That should probably be changed. Atmosphere was nice, and only Indians were in there so I will go with probably AUTHENTIC. The waiter was amazing. he was so sweet and nice. even the cook came out to check on us and our food for the kids to make sure it wasn’t too hot. we had the Chicken tikki masala and butter chicken along with Naan and some fried donut things that were AMAZBALLS. I will totally be going back. I told all my coworkers to go for dinner but to take their smart phone to look everything up.

Very bad place and food sub par. The Owners wife runs this place. She provide below PAR quality rice, Old Oil in curry & above that Re-heated food. They are not freshly made. ALLTHEPICTURESAREFAKE. AMERICANSCANNOTMAKETHEDIFFERENCEOFGOODINDIANFOOD. I feel bad for them as they get to eat old food.

Good food but worst service ever. Will never go there again. Owner is very rude. She never answers any of your questions related to food menu properly. Owner must learn hospitality. Its really required. Worst service.

Gotta say, my co-workers and I should of high tailed our asses outta there. As soon as we got there around 11:30ish, the dude locked the door on us. We asked if they were open and the guy said no. He was joking but we should of took his ass seriously and left. Pickles ended up giving us sour pickle face from the time we started eating until after we paid our bill and left. Plus I had to hear this Indian dude for a good 30 mins from another table keep saying, «this is not right, this is not owe-ten-tic Indian spices.» I’m thinking if he’s saying that, wtefff am I doing here. I just kept thinking about getting the runs. Food, lunch buffet, very poor selection. Didn’t have samosa, didn’t have bbq chicken, didn’t have that green spinach cheese thing, didn’t have a salad bar, didn’t have a lot of stuff. I’m sorry but, they need to clean up their lunch service for sure.

I really want to like this place as my family and I enjoy Indian food. My daughter and I came in for lunch at 1:00 and as we walked in, we read a sign«please wait to be seated». So we waited and waited and waited. Couldn’t figure out who worked here as we were not greeted nor made any eye contact to let us know that we were noticed. So I stepped forward closer to cashier and he looked at me like, what do you want? Let’s skip the details and go straight to the food. AWFUL! I am utterly surprised how they can afford to stay open when this restaurant is close to little India. We had their buffet. E-V-E-R-Y single item was over salted and over spiced! And I LOVE spicy food. And we weren’t even offered Nann bread! I had to ask. My daughter and I never went back for another serving for the buffet. SKIP this place. GO elsewhere. So many other Indian places to choose from.

5 star food for the price. I tried chicken 65 and Manchuri chicken and south tamarind spicy eggplant. Great curries. What is amazing is their chili cheese naan. So I know they sometimes get shot for bad service but as a person that knows Indians, they aren’t purposely trying to be rude that’s just natural Indian attitude that you would see at a restaurant in India. I’m also NOT saying that’s acceptable. I just don’t know if they had the best training for waiting tables. Because my service was good and their food was excellent, I give them 4 stars!

After having tried several dozen Indian restaurants, from the priciest ones in West LA, to the cheapest ones like India sweets and spices, over the past decade, I can unequivocally declare Pickles as the best Indian restaurant in LA. I usually go here only on weekends for dinner and their food has always been delicious. Bit pricey, but they give you very large portions and I always end up packing the left-overs for the next day. They have a huge selection of curries and I have tried different ones. All of them have been yummy(and spicy enough for me)! Their kesari paratha(with mint and chillis) is simply delicious. I can say over 90% of the food I have eaten here has been great. I will gladly take any of my friends who visit me to this restaurant over any other restaurant in LA.

I’ll start this review with a disclaimer: We didn’t actually eat the food here. Therefore, this review is based strictly on the service, which was atrocious. We got here at around 3 pm and were informed by the host that the buffet was just ending. After sizing up our group, he asked how many were in our party and I informed him that there were four of us. He then muttered something along the lines of «oh no» under his breath and looked around the restaurant for a place to seat us(again, it was 3 pm so it wasn’t that busy). He then said something to the effect that most of the seating was VIP, even though it was empty, and asked if we could sit by the door(odd, but fine). Being super hungry we went and checked out the buffet anyway, even though it was ending, and decided to order from the menu rather than risk having lukewarm food that would probably not be re-filled. This was the first mistake. We then sifted through the voluminous menus(yes, they have two) and decided what we wanted to order. After sitting for 15 minutes one of our group members noticed that the menus had a disclaimer stating that it would take a minimum of 45 minutes to get our food. On top of that, we had yet to be approached by anyone about what we wanted to order, or even to offer water, for that matter, making it likely that we would spend over an hour there before receiving our food(should someone ever get around to taking our order). We then asked the people next to us(who had a small child), after they had received one of their dishes, how long they had waited and they confirmed that they had been there over an hour and still had not received all of their food(despite it being something simple like a dosa and idli). On top of that, they had attempted to leave but were told they could not because they had already placed their orders. Needless to say, we left after that and will not be coming back. Maybe they are good if you come during prime buffet hours, but you don’t conduct business like this.

I happened to stop by here because I was looking to try an Indian food buffet out side of the pioneer blvd area where I usually go for Indian cuisine. I have to say I was impressed with the food. I’ve had better chicken tikka masala but that’s not to say it wasn’t delicious. The street chicken(their version of it) was awesome! I could go back continuously for that and wouldn’t grow tired of it. My only gripe was waiting for a table when there clearly were tables available in plain site. Other than that, decent buffet for Indian cuisine. I’ve gone back for the street chicken as well lol… good stuff! Lunch 4÷27÷2014 and Dinner 7÷27÷2014
