I have been going to Sonora for years, even when they were on Pioneer Blvd. It’s family owned and not fancy, but the food is the best! I drive in from Orange County just for their chicken tacos and posole. Enjoying their food for over 25 years!

Love the food here! Great machaca, tamales, tacos and love the burritos! The salsa here is also good! The only reason why I didn’t give them a 5 star is because they are tight with their salsa. even if we offered to pay for more they’ll give you maybe one extra. Last time we ordered 4 tacos a dozen tamales and 3 burritos and they gave us 4 little salsas for all of that.

My first time coming I gotta say As I came up on arriving to this destination I wasn’t really impress do to just on appearance but still felt like I needed to give it a try… So I did! as soon as I stepped in I just got that good old warm Mexican grandmah house feeling so that felt good right of the Back so I took a good second on reading the menu due to the wide varieties of traditional Mexican home meals I must say it was so hard due to all the things that they had up there but at the end I decided to get their«mucha hambre XLG burrito» with carne asada and the works and dammn I didn’t expected it to be that big of a burrito I gotta it was super bomb and fulfilling and then some since I couldn’t finish it!.. lol the only reason that I give this restaurant four stars is because they leave the doors open on their restaurant since they don’t have no running AC or fan if that and equals to wondering flies which equals to not so happy guest

My first time here today, I had the chicken taco and the adobada taco, my boyfriend had the carne asada tacos. The tacos are huge! The meat was so tender and juicy! I was so full after one taco but couldn’t stop eating! The staff was super friendly and the food came out fast… less. than 10 minutes. It’s in a old«A» frame building with a concrete floor… nothing fancy but who needs fancy when the food is this good! I’m leaving a 4 star review since I’ve only had the tacos. I will update my review with a new menu item next time

It’s really hard finding good Mexican food in Cerritos and if you’re tired of Chip Poo Poo, then look no further. Very tasty and authentic Mexican food at a cheap price. My personal favs are the carne asada tacos and the carnitas burritos. They also sell carnitas by the pound and it’s very tender/juicy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside.

My son lives in Anaheim and will stop by an get tamales when he is in the area. If we are lucky some of them will make it down to San Diego when he visits. These are the best tamales around. Wish they were closer to me. Please let me know if this review was useful, funny or cool. Thank You so much

So I was in the area and stopped by this place for lunch, a buddy of mine told me the wet burritos were pretty good, now as I sit here waiting for my food I can see the lady placing my burrito in the microwave and the microwave beeping after a minute or so. Just the fact that I’m eating something cooked out of a microwave makes me not want to eat this food, I would of settled for a hot pocket in this case. Haven’t got to my food yet but certainly won’t be coming here for a microwaveable burrito again sorry mr. Sonora

Yummy ! I tried their Carne Asada burrito yesterday and I loved it !! It’s just the right portion size for me. In not much of beans and rice person so, the burrito had exactly what I love in it. Asada, pico de gallo and guacamole! I’m actually on my way to try something new …

I’ve been going to Sonora since they were located in a hole in the wall on pioneer Blvd. They have the best Burritos in the area. My favorites are the bean and cheese and the green burritos. I know those aren’t the most fancy burritos but I have eaten at a lot of Mexican places and when the beans are good, almost everything else is too. Also just like most Mexican restaurants, sometimes its better than others but when its good, its really good.

Torta Asada is delicious tell them to add guacamole. No chili if you get heart burn like me. I been here several times this place is a great small family restaurant. The only thing is they close early at 6. Asada Burrito is fulfilling and the chilaquiles are good as well. They also sell stuff cookd to take out and prepare at your home your way. Like Beans, tostadas, chili, pork skins/chicharones ect.

I’ve been waiting for 20 minutes for a simple carne asada burrito with only 2 customers ahead of me. This better be the best damn burrito in the world!

Gross Mexican food. Over salted and tough meat. Came in at 9 am and they had everything PRECOOKED. Ew. Tortillas were cold and all the Aguas frescas are from a machine. Next.

I’ve been going here for years and have always had the best service and amazing tacos. I recommend the asada tacos and the chicken wet burrito, both are made to perfection.

Can never go wrong with a burrito from here. I used to come here all the time when I went to the high school down the street. Best burritos around hands down — their refried beans and tortillas are what really make it amazing, always better quality than other places. Definitely recommend.

This is the real deal! Authentic mexican flavor on all the menu items i’ve tried. I especially like their menudo, which is served on sabado y domingo solamente! My spanish speaking skill is poquito and no bueno but my taste buds for good mexican food is moy excelente, and sonora delivers! This is not a fancy place so don’t go looking for nice seats and westernized ambiance. This is a hole in the wall, but boy this hole will fulfill your gastronomical craving for flavorful salsa verde, carnitas, carne asada, lengua, tacos & burritos! I pass on beans but i love spanish rice and their rice is just fluffy, lose and seasoned just right. Ask for peppers. they’re hot and so yummy on everything. Also their chicharones are crispy and have just the right amount of grease as not to give you a full on heart attack :)

I’ve tried their carne asada burrito, carne asada quesadilla, and their enchilada plate. Their burrito portion size is pretty big but it’s not something I re-order because I find it more salty than flavorful. Their enchilada plate however is what keeps me coming back! It comes with 3 enchiladas, a side of Spanish rice, and refried beans. It never disappoints! I usually order a combination of cheese, pollo, and/or carnitas. As much as I love their enchilada plate, I do however have TWO qualms about this restaurant: 1. The male owner isn’t very nice :(He’s always impatient and not very friendly with me despite the fact that I make the effort to be extra friendly/polite. I was hoping that he’d soften up after he started recognizing that I frequent the place but sadly he hasn’t yet. 2. If you’re on a time crunch, this place is not for you. I find that it usually takes 20−30min if not longer for them to make your order regardless of whether or not there are a lot of people there.

My husband and I came here after reading Unilocal reviews. We had the carnitas and carne asada soft tacos. They were surprisingly good. The salsa was really tasty and made the tacos even that much better. We always believe that if they know how to make a good salsa then their food usually good.

Second year picking up Christmas Eve tamales for the family, the beef & chicken were both very good, the general consensus around the table was that the beef was just a little better. The beef had a slight hint of spicy-heat to them, just about perfect. The tamales were much larger than the ones I usually pick up at farmers markets, or even sometimes the freezer section(they can be good if you know which ones to buy) We also had some of the dulce tamales this year, which were not really for me, pineapple & raisins(neither of which are favorites of mine), are key ingredients but other people around the table enjoyed them. The«dinner» tamales were 5⁄5 for me, and the family enjoyed the desert ones. Pair that with a great price for the size 16 $ per Doz and its 5 stars for me.
