This organic food store started selling Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) DVDs with English subtitles recently. It’s next to Diamond Bakery, near the Optometrist.
Pros:
–Cheap
–No defective discs so far. The all work
–Most movies had good/​decent English subtitles
–Many DVD sets (8 movies on 1 disc) are very cheap, with BOTH mandarin/​cantonese audio, english subtitles, and high quality
–Recent movies in stock
–Good selection of action, martial arts, and ancient
–Small collection concert DVDs, Korean and Japanese DVDs
–Conveniently located inside the Ranch 99 plaza
Cons
–1 movies out of 20 movies did not have english subtitles but it was an action movie so I was able to understand with my basic chinese skills. That is a pretty low error rate
They have Donnie Yen, Andy Lau, Jet Li, Stephen Chow DVD sets. I got a Donnie Yen 16 movie set and half the movies were either modern and/​or good for cheap. I am pretty bored with American movies these days so I like watching Asian ones to freshen up on my chinese.
