Ace Hardware

This is one of my favorite stores. All the staff is very knowledgeable about where everything is in the store. They almost always have what I need. Even though it’s an Ace it has a mom and pop feeling. It also has a small post office in the back of store. They also have propane.

Ace is right around the corner from my house. It’s your basic hardware store with one fantastic addition — a tiny post office in the back that’s open until 6 pm.
You’ll find everything you’d normally find at a hardware store and then some here. They have an interesting collection of kitchen utensils back in the middle aisle. The prices are reasonable and we always have friendly service here. The cashier always greets me as soon as I walk in, even if she’s waiting on someone else.

Stopped by here to try and pick up an infra-​red thermometer, problem is… nobody in the place seemed to know what that was, so they couldn’t tell us whether they had any or not and instead just kept going in circles between cooking thermometers and patio thermometers. Suffice it to say, we were annoyed by the time we left.

This is place is great. So refreshing to have a place to go that is not the size of an airplane hangar, and you dont even have to try and find an employee to get help. I was literally asked about 4 times if I needed help within 10 minutes of being in the store. Great customer service, very refreshing. The prices are a little higher than the airplane hangar so I downgraded to four stars. A few days after my first visit, I found out they have a REAL usps post office in the back, bam back to five stars! Please don’t tell anyone about the post office, as both times I’ve gone there hasn’t been a line.

Ace is the place!
You’ll commonly find the exact things you’re looking for here that they sell nowhere else. Need a 60 mm 6m threaded screw head bolt? BAM! They’ve got it. Need awkwardly sized 24″ diagonal slatted floor/​wall mounted heat registers? BOOM! They’re in stock.
They’re random and AWESOME! They only get 4 stars because they know it and are priced accordingly.

#1 — The customer service is amazing. There is always an employee watching the front door in order to immediately greet and direct incoming customers. They’re always welcoming and friendly. For them, a question is never too big or too small, they will give you their undivided attention.
#2 — They have a post office in here! Did you know that? I love that I don’t have to drive 15 mins to my post office in order to send packages, buy mailing supplies, get stamps, etc. It’s all right here. To reaffirm point #1 — I’ve heard employees notify the post office section that I had entered the building with a package to send. By the time I made it to the post office counter, and employee was there waiting to help me. I appreciate them taking that initiative.
#3 — They have some amazing sales here from time to time. My husband and I are also apart of their rewards program. You can receive coupons in the mail and email notifications about current sales.
The missing star? Well, sometimes they just don’t have in stock what I can find at bigger chain stores. But, I will always try here first. If my hunt for something specific is successful here, then I can feel that my money has gone towards a store that deserves it.

I almost never write good reviews for corporate chain stores, and the reason is simple– they are so well recognized, giving them a good review doesn’t matter, they are able to squash the local independent stores whether they are reviewed or not (I will, however, write a scathing review when necessary). This review, however, is an exception to the rule…
I’m used to being ignored wen i walk into stores, especially hardware stores, where everything is so vast and cavernous and overwhelming with the massive displays that it is too easy for the customer service folks to scurry away like so many cockroaches in the beam of a flashlight. It was a little startling, then, for me to walk into this particular Ace Hardware and be greeted by 4 – 5 employees, all of whom were honestly waiting for someone to help. Maybe it was because they were so bored, who knows, but it was nice to be able to take my pick of customer service agents, have them help me find what I need, and only what I need, and get me back out the door within 7 minutes. That absolutely never happens at Mega Super Big Block Depot Mart, and I rest comfortable guaranteeing that it never will. Which is why I will end up going back to this Ace Hardware when the need arises.

btw– i don’t mean to give the impression that all Ace’s are like this– the stores where I used to live were just as bad, customer service-​wise, as the big guys. This store, however, is the one I’m vouching for, as being A-​OK in my book.
