The tequila cage is… interesting. The food was delicious and very filling. The chile rellenos were excellent and my favorite thing about this restaurant was the vase in which they served you water. After a night in the tequila cage, mas agua esta mejor! They were seriously the largest cups I’ve ever seen. Décor was typical of Mexican restaurants– bright and colorful. I’d visit again if I were in the area.

My husband and I were on our way to another Mexican restaurant for dinner and decided very spontaneously to try out Los Potrancas. It was a great decision! The food was amazing, there was a lot of it, and our waitress, Vivian was wonderful. The guacamole was seriously the best I’ve had anywhere. The only thing I really couldn’t eat at all was the salsa-it is fire alarm hot!!! Not at all for anyone who likes salsa even medium. Nevertheless, We will be back very soon!

Overpriced mediocre mexican food and service is never very pleasant. Cheese in the rellenos and enchiladas was not melted. The green chili doesn’t have much flavor and the carnitas are overcooked. Also $ 12 for a combo plate(relleno, burrito and enchilada) and didn’t come with rice and beans. I was lucky i guess for ordering the one combo that didn’t come with beans and rice. Ridiculous!

Great mexican restaurant with some of the best daily specials around. Most recently had the tacos al carbon and they were to die for. Any of their breakfast burritos are pretty top notch. Green chilie has the perfect amount of heat to it. Mostly order to go but every time I dine in I have a pleasant experience. If you haven’t been, but love mexican food, give it a try! Only reason it isn’t 5 stars is because prices could be just a tiny bit cheaper(save for their specials).

Just did a delivery order– enchiladas, tostada, tamales, nachos, pretty normal Mexican food order, pretty hard to screw up. Didn’t get the sour cream I ordered extra. No big deal. Things happen. But not one bite of this was edible. This is the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. I’ll never try this place again. Just the smell alone is going to make me take the trash out immediately. The only good thing I can say is that my order was delivered pretty fast. Just wish I could eat it.

When I walked in I felt like visually I was hit by a kaleidoscope of colors! The tables. The chairs! It was all of a sudden a sunny day despite the fact that it was dinner time. They’ve been here 14 years. There’s a second location somewhere that opened two years ago. Menudo! I am a menudo chaser. I’m not sure if this is my last stop and I won’t chase anymore. Their menudo is really good but there might be others around :) I found out that Denver is a thriving city for such a chase. I’m excited! Currently this is my thing. This is a cozy spot. They used all the square footage they have and jammed their colorful tables and chairs. Inquiring minds were told that all the tables and chairs that I so admire is from Mexico. We walked in to a busy night. We were immediately sat at a communal table. The server is friendly and very accommodating. We ordered and I looked around and the crowd is varied but I can tell they were all truly enjoying their food. Families with kids seem to be the theme of the night. My friend had this dish called Lacho Combo. It was really good. The steak meat was so tasty!$ 10. Next time! Parking behind the building.

I had high expectations for Las Potrancas after reading the review in the Denver Post. We love the local hang-outs with authentic ethnic food. No expectations with respect to atmosphere, but this place didn’t meet those. It’s a small place with very bright fluorescent lighting and, as it turns out, Friday nights the exhaust fans in the kitchen aren’t up to the task. There was a fog in the dining room and it was worse in the kitchen. We thought equipment had failed, but our server said that was normal for Fridays. Hard to believe that isn’t breaking some regulations. Anyhow, the salsa is tasty, but the watery kind that doesn’t stick to the chips to well. It’s also good and spicy. We also ordered the guac. I thought it was a little heavy on onions and needed more salt. I’d give it a «B». One of us had the crispy rellenos, which were very good. We also ordered the pollo mole(whole vs. shredded). The mole was sweeter and heavier on cinnamon then I’ve ever had. Usually it’s dark brown whereas this was sort of rust in color. For dessert we had the flan, which was delicious. So that we fully sampled the menu we ordered fajitas and green chili to go. Both were good, particularly the green chili — thick, flavorful, plenty of tender pork. We had margaritas and appreciated that they were not syrupy and packed a punch. The service was also efficient and friendly. Our hopes of finding a gem in the rough worth the drive from the East side of Denver didn’t come true. But if you live in that area and pick a night when the room isn’t in a fog there are good things on the menu and you can watch jeopardy on TV(that was funny) :-)

We have been loyal customers – home delivery – since this restaurant opened a decade or so ago. Six months ago we placed an order – less than $ 40 – but, got charged for our dinner and someone else’s $ 78+ dinner, too. When we called, the woman said to correct, YOU must bring proof of the 2d charge. We called the bank instead and they cleared the extra charge. Then on Valentine’s Day Eve, we placed another order – again for less than $ 40. The man said 11÷2− 2 hours for home delivery at 6:55 p.m. At 9:25 we called to check on our UNdelivered dinner. The woman said, your order was CANCELED! We never canceled our order and they were closed! To add insult to injury, they charged us for our UNdelivered, canceled dinner but FAILEDTOCREDITTHECHARGE! It will be a long time — if ever – we order from this POORLYOPERATED restaurant. BEWAREOFFALSECHARGES!

The drive thru took 25 min before we could even order. It was crazy. We probably could have waited for a table and ate in that time. Don’t get tricked in thinking it will be faster. It was not. After we ordered at the drive thru, it was another 20 minutes to get 2 burritos, one cheese enchilada and chili fries. Small order. We arrived at 6:15pm and am still sitting here at 7:01pm. Unbelievable! The parking lot is a cluster and laid out very poorly! The food is good. Price is reasonable for the amount of food you get. Has good flavor, but we will not come here again during dinner hours.

I picked up my to-go order. When I got home it was the total wrong order. They would not deliver it nor would they re-make my food when I finally got back to the restaurant. I will never eat here again. They lost a good customer.

I called ahead and was quoted a 20min ticket time for four burritos. I arrived 5 min early and paid. After an additional 15min passed the little girl told me to pull around and they would have my food out to me in 5 min. Another 10 – 15 goes by so I pulled through again and she told me it would be another minute, and the reason was that they gave my food to someone else by accident. The only other car there had pulled away 20min ago. All I ordered was four burritos. Told the little girl I wanted my money back and she slammed the window in my face and snarled. 50+ min and tipped 4bucks which she didn’t even give me back. Fuck these guys

Love love this place! Usually get delivery & love it! Mexican food that’s delivered? Best ever! The food is always fresh & it’s definitely some of the better Mexican food you can find in the area. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant & I HIGHLY recommend trying their green chile.

I can’t give it 5 stars because all I ever get are burritos for takeaway, so I have no idea if the service or delivery or whatever are good or bad. I do know that when I go in, I order my burrito, it’s ready in 5 minutes, and is always awesome. I always get the #4, usually small. This is just good solid mexican, cheap and easy, I don’t think I’d expect much more from it and am always glad when I eat here.

I love their #11 with chicken, no beans, smothered. Get it in jumbo and it lasts me for several days. Even though their drive-thru can be slow, it’s because they make it fresh so it’s worth the wait. Their green chili is the BEST! The people there are great too.

There was drama today over $ 3 with them — I actually blogged for them previously because they were so wonderful esp. for bulk burrito orders. Lately their burritos have gone downhill along with their customer service. I really like the owner and have worked him in the past for large orders, but lately it has been tough working with some of the ladies that work there. Monday is half price on some of their meals — don’t forget to ask for that and good luck! P. S. Ask for a receipt!

We’ve been going here for some time now, but thought I’d write a review after last night. My favorite item on their menu is the torta with the adobada, and they knocked it out of the park last night. I made sure I filled up on chips and fries so that I could take half home. My SO had the chicken en mole and perhaps they’ve changed the recipe but the mole was so ridiculously good, it was bonkers. Love the place!

Other than the service being a little slow, and the prices being a bit high,(his only complaints) the tacos al carbon were amazing. We split the meal and were full from all the chips, and we split a relleno. Such a tasty dish and with 4 on a plate, we got our money’s worth. We would recommend this place.

I think our main complaint about this place was the temperature of the restaurant: it was so stuffy and hot that it was uncomfortable to eat there. As I sat, my face began sweating(and, admittedly, this was only made worse with the consumption of a margarita). The restaurant was tiny. We walked in, and there we were, right in the middle of the dining area, which was filled with people sitting at brightly-colored furniture. Our own table had a rainbow-colored parrot and other jungle scenes! I ordered the house margarita and the Quesadilla Ranchera, with chorizo. The margarita had good alcohol content, though it probably came at the cost of the flavor of the drink. The quesadilla was okay. I think I should have opted for the chicken. I guess I’m used to the less-authentic types of chorizo I’ve consumed from the grocery store; I wasn’t ready for spices used in the chorizo at Las Potrancos(probably cinnamon and cloves). My mother had the crispy chili rellenos, and they were pretty good, actually — just as good as those we’ve had elsewhere at Old Santa Fe, Tequila’s, and El Tapatio. My fiancée had a combination plate with a beef taco, beef enchilada, and beef burrito — all of which he said was okay. The service was bit haphazard. It seemed like our waiter switched mid-meal. We were asked whether we wanted more salsa, and we replied«yes,» but the salsa was forgotten, and we had to ask a second time. I didn’t ask for a glass of water to go with my margarita, and so, as a result, I wasn’t given one. I wasn’t asked whether I wanted a second margarita, either. I ended up drinking my fiancée’s Diet Coke.

Maybe it’s not fair to rate a restaurant based on a Mother’s Day meal. This place was overflowing with customers and obviously understaffed, with 2 servers and another person pouring water and refilling salsa for the whole place. Plus, they have a drive-thru, delivery and take-out service. Utter chaos. Hubs and I are vegans and my husband proclaimed the vegetable fajitas«the worst» he’s ever had. It looked as if they had dumped a frozen vegetable mix on top of a hot skillet and called it good. I had the vegetable burrito and am fairly certain there were frozen veggies in there as well. Drinks were average. The best thing about the meal was the salsa, which had an excellent kick. Nobody came back and checked on our meals, and it took 2 requests to get our check, and then nobody came back to collect. I went to the front counter and was honest about our experience… not mean, but honest. I also pointed out that the check said«all day happy hour on Sunday» but the drinks were full-priced. That was corrected, and apologies were given for the service. I’d like to try and go back on a slower night but I’ll have to go alone, as the other 2 in my party vowed to never return to this place.

This place is AWFUL! I do not understand how they are still in business! Food is mediocre, service is TERRIBLE! For now the 2nd time we have ordered for delivery we have waited over two hours, each time with an approximate 49 minute wait time. When called to check in on the food, we were twice hung up on! We are DONE ordering here. SHAME on the owners. Please join me in not ordering from here so that they go out of business.

We really enjoyed our family visit last Sunday. The place is brand new and has a very cool new bar to enjoy! Will have to belly up soon to try a Margarita! They have an excellent display of all their high quality tequilas! Love it! It does still smell like fresh paint in there but you get over that quickly. We found the food to be very good quality at a reasonable price. We had the Fajitas! Not bad at all. My daughter had a burrito she said was very good but a little skimpy on the green chili sauce. The wait staff was very attentive and took care of all our requests quickly. The new furniture and the bright colors they use are awesome in my book! Love this place and will be back! Welcome to the neighborhood!
