The Wine’ing Butcher

Got lunch for my kids teachers here back in May but couldn’t review bc I wasn’t the one eating I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. Tried lunch here for the first time with a friend. We ordered 2 panini’s florentine and chicken pesto. WOW! Very Yummy… so tasty that I went back for a second time in 1 day and ordered two pizza’s for my kids. Their brick oven makes the pizza’s not only look delicious but taste delicious as well! If you haven’t tried it this neighborhood gem… you are missing out! This will be my new go to lunch spot!

The few times I’ve been here the service has been wonderful. The wine selection, even though it’s a small size, is pretty nice and a decent selection of whites, reds, pinks, and sweet wines. Good selection of sides in the back of the store. I haven’t tried any of their beef yet, but the chicken is always really good. The Key Lime Chicken is always really good and I get 1 or 2 chicken breasts everytime I’m in. And the chicken breasts are HUGE and 2 peices will feed a family of 3 – 4 easy. They have a smal seating area for when you want to eat there in the store. They always have some music playing that is different almost everytime I walk in there. For the 3 times I’ve been in the staff have always been very friendly and asking if I needed any help. There is a cooler near the door with some fresh veggies and other goodies to drink. There are some freezers there with some pre-​made burgers and some other meats.

I’m really sad, when I came and visited the manager was there and she was great and very helpful. Unfortunately, when I called the customer service didn’t match. I wasn’t done asking questions but could tell she wanted to hang up. No problem then I won’t be planning a get together there, sorry to bother you. I can always find another place that is more willing to answer my questions over the phone.

They advertise brick oven pizza. It is a gas grill. surrounded by brick facia. Go take a look. No charcoal, no hardwood. Dominos or Pizza Hut do it better.

The steak tips are a great go-​to when you need a quick grillable. Just 3 mins or so per side at 500+F and you’re set!

Food and selection are great Service is going downhill fast. Was in Saturday. Ordered over $ 50 worth of not cheap food. Your high schoolers behind the counter need serious help with people. I get that their immature, don’t really want to work, and are prone to premature giggling at just about everything.
BUT, YOU OWN AND RUN A BUSINESS that charges good money for good food, and your food is perfect. I can’t stand goofy high schoolers who just walk away from me as I ask to check on a product. I can’t stand when a manager is not paying attention to see the two male high schoolers are screwing around with their female high schoolers who came in to watch then work the register.
Your attention needs to be on who is paying the money; ME damn it. Fix the problem. Have a talk with the little urchins OR hire more adult staff.
Just an FYI, a store just like yours opened in Leesburg. Yes, it’s a little farther, but service is amazing.

Would be nice if it was open later in the evening, especially in the weekends, 8PM is really too early as many products are ideal for if you have unannounced guests in the evening.
Sometimes I wonder if it is fresh enough, especially if I see those huge trays with prepared meat that are left just before closing time. Maybe prepare less food in advance?

Called at 11am to ask a question. Was about 10 seconds — literally! — into my question when «Pam» cut me off and told me how busy she was. She was clearly put off that I’d had the audacity to call their store. ummm… why answer the phone then? I then called back to reserve some meat to pick up later that day and she was equally short and rude. I emailed the store and no one even bothered responding. You won’t catch me giving my money to them again. Shame, too, considering we always buy a ginormous rib roast for Christmas dinner from them. I work as a food and travel writer and had been asked by a national brand to mention a local place where I buy my meat… this place is now at the BOTTOM of my list.

Such a cute place! Love supporting small neighborhood businesses. Their foods are such great quality, fresh all the time. The Northener sub is DELICIOUS, a must!

Once I found this gem I wanted to eat here every day! The steak tips are more expensive than buying meat from the grocery store, but oh are they good! The firehouse steak tips are my favorite… but be prepared they are SPICY! Put them on a sandwich and/​or pair with a good horseradish and they tone down nicely. The Firehouse shrimp are also delicious! I love the variety of homemade sausage they offer. It’s hard to find boudin in other stores in the area!
I love the café in the back of the store. I’ve had a handful of different sandwiches which all were excellent. My favorite is the Northerner which is basically their take on an Italian sandwich. The dressing on the sandwich is superb. Half the sandwich is plenty, but I’d often get a whole so I had some leftovers! The french fries have a delicious seasoning on (a bit garlic-​y perhaps? … which i LOVE). If you enjoy your fries crunchy like I do, ask them to make them crunchy. I’m a big sucker for some homemade ranch to dip my fries in… and they certainly deliver!
They have a good amount of wines in the store, but as I’m not much of a wine drinker I never explored it much.

Hubby and I went last weekend for lunch. I had the mexican chicken and wrap and it was soooo good! He had the cajun burger and thought it was ok.
We have also had the pizza from there which was good but so far the Mexican chicken wrap is a winner for us!
The whoopie pie we got for later was extremly dry and the frosting was so heavy. Not the whoopie pie we are used to coming here from Maine.
They have a great butcher counter filled with lots of items to cook on the grill.
We will def be back!

No grassfed beef selection. I don’t see the point of this store really, they didn’t seem to offer anything that would be worth a stop again. Pastured poultry, grassfed beef, wild caught seafood, that’s what I was hoping to find… not there.

Love the idea of the business. I love the idea of a small wine and food market with prepared foods and fresh cooked meals.
Their wine selection is great for such a small place. Lots of local vineyards represented. The food you can order is pretty good too. The hamburger isn’t as good as I hoped but the steak tips and chicken are good. The salads are great too.
The market isn’t somewhere you can do your grocery shopping but hopefully as the weather improves, so will the selection. My main problem is their hours. I primarily order food from here, I work late and just want to order food sometimes. These guys close SO EARLY! If they were open an hour or so later. they would be raking in so much more of my money.

I suppose if you like meats that have been pre-​marinated for who knows how long, that are being sold at a premium price, then this place is for you.

I’m not sure what people are seeing in this place. It’s over priced, the options are incredibly limited, and from what I saw, things aren’t as fresh as they should be. Particularly the vegetables which were wilted and dried out as if they’d been there for days without proper care — Such as water.
It’s a convenience store for the hoity toity Ashburn elite group — and it appears that they enjoy every bit of it. They can have it!

Came here because of a friend’s recommendation and couldn’t resist with a groupon deal! Ordered enough food to bring back home to eat during the Superbowl. Their burgers tasted great, I’d recommend getting their Jack Daniel wings though! Wish I hadn’t ordered the buffalo wings so I could’ve ordered more of the Jack Daniel flavored ones instead. Also, ordered their chicken salad wrap to bring to work as a meal which had a weird after taste. Overall, it is a nice little addition to Ashburn worth giving a try if you are in the area.

We went here the other day for lunch and all of their food was delicious. The steak tips and cheese was not like your typical steak and cheese but it was still awesome. Their marinades make the meat so tender. Usually when meat is cooked well done, it gets tough and dry. Their steak tips were fully cooked yet still juicy and amazing. Although it is a little on the pricy side, it’s nice to have somewhere like this to get really deliciously pre-​prepared meat for special occasions. I am looking forward to trying their other marinated meats.
In addition to the meat, we had their Ceasar salad and their clam chowder. Both were very very good, and their ceasar dressing is on point. I was hoping to buy some but it wasn’t something they sold. However, the nice lady who was working said that they could prepare some in the future to sell to me.
Lastly, they have a lot of other things in their store. It is a cute market, with wine and other deli type foods. I probably couldn’t afford to shop their regularly but as mentioned before I will definitely stop by again when I’m in the mood for fine dinner. Oh yeah and their gelato is awesome too!
Side note, although they serve food for you to eat there, it’s more of a to go type place. They do have tables on the side to eat there, but it’s mostly a shop and take home type place

So this is a little butcher and wine store… hence the name «Wine’ing Butcher.» ;) There are lots of other little treats and side dishes as well.
Ok…so I bought a Living Social Deal here a few months back for marinated meats and now we are hooked. :) We bought the Steak Tips that you grill at home (Teriyaki and Fire House) and they were SO good… The twice baked potatoes are good too… but I am happy doing doing my own potatoes at home. They make homemade gelato and sorbet as well. My husband LOVES the Salted Carmel!
So we decided to try the Wine’ing Butcher for Christmas dinner. We had to pre-​order. We chose a Prime Rib Roast… They gave us cooking directions and it came out AMAZING! My only complaint was a little disorganization when picking up on Christmas Eve… they didn’t have a great system down… as they didn’t direct you where to go and you had to stand in one line and then another line. I ended up standing in 3 lines since I didn’t know where to go originally. It took a little time and I was okay with it (happy I didn’t have kids with me)…but I know there were other customers who were a little annoyed by it.
We will be back for sure… planning to use Wine’ing Butcher for New Year’s Eve…

Thank you ‘Living Social’, for your introduction of this wonderful local establishment. Hidden off a small street in Ashburn, my GPS took me to a strip mall where this place is on the corner of the building.
The establishment reminds me of a local Whole Foods Market, complete with a few organic product, some fresh cheese and meats, a small sandwich shop and a brick oven pizzeria. My living social deal was for ‘steak tips’. These are tips of beef already marinated. They offered 4 different types. I selected 2 lbs of two types. The butcher advised me on how long to grill them (approx 7 – 8 minutes on each side).
The steak tips were FANTASTIC! They were very tender and full of flavor. I will definitely come back to purchase these mouth watering cuts of beef.

I finally managed to make it out to the Wine’ing Butcher. What a great little gourmet market with a nice selection of meats (fresh and deli), seafood, produce, cheese, artisan breads and so much more. I found the wine selection a bit small, but had just left one of my new favorite wine stores so perhaps my judgment was clouded. Regardless, I really love this place.
I couldn’t resist taking home a loaf of their sourdough and to be honest I haven’t had sourdough that good since leaving CA. I was sorely tempted to take some of their steak tips with me, but unfortunately had other errands to run so that will have to wait for my next visit.
Our stop here just happened to be right around lunch time so we decided to stay for a bite. One look at the menu and neither of us got past the Steak Tip Sub; basically an Italian roll filled with their tender steak tips, caramelized onions, roasted peppers and mushrooms all smothered in provolone — my new favorite cheesesteak. Really delicious! They serve wine and beer in addition to non alcoholic favorites and have a small area with a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your meal. I really look forward to trying some of their other selections.
I found service to be friendly and accommodating. Everyone was doing their best to take care of the customers in the shop timely and with a good attitude. One young man even apologized as we were clearing our trash that he hadn’t gotten the trash bag put back in the can quick enough. Not necessary, but indicative of employees who actually care about their customers.
At any rate — I will be back. I can’t wait to take some steak tips home — I think I will start with the Firehouse marinade. Bison tips are tempting too. I want to try one of their brick oven pizzas — namely the Butcher’s blend which is topped with… you guessed it… steak tips. And, their thick cut steaks look amazing — one of those just might make it on to my grill for Sunday dinner!

I’ve been in here once before, but just to look around. I checked in here via Unilocal and got 1 free steak tip of my choice. Much to my surprise this free steak tip was a little more than a quarter pound of steak (round tip I believe). I choose the bourbon and maple marinaded steak… not bad at all!
Anyway, came in to get a brisket point to make some burnt ends for the weekend. This was on a Monday — they said they were out of brisket, but meat delivery days are typically on Tues. and Thurs. (good to know). So came back the next day, Tues., and brought my wife and kids. In addition to having a wonderful selection of proteins, they have several olive oils, fresh and local veggies, and sauces, just to name a few of the other products they carry.
The butcher, David I believe, was great! He knew exactly what cut the point of a brisket is. Lots of folks have no idea what a point is, even some «butchers». He cut me 6 lbs, wrapped it and even chatted with me for a few minutes. I’m also going to post some pics of the burnt ends.
Being active duty Army, I also appreciated that they did a 10% discount for Vets on Veterans Day. Much appreciated. You guys have definitely earned a repeat customer.
