I have eaten here 5 or 6 times, but I have only ordered 2 different things, so take my review with a grain of salt. Also worth mentioning that I know nothing about authentic Greek food. On my first visit here I had a gyro. It was very good. No complaints. On every visit since I have ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken. Their salads are fantastic, and huge. Always have to split one with my wife. We typically order some pita bread too and an make our own wraps out of the salad. Delicious. The service has always been good on our visits. Would give a higher rating, but I haven’t tried enough of their menu. If you are in the mood for a Greek salad, you can’t go wrong with this place.

If you’re a pizza fan you must try the Mediterranean pizza, it is exceptional. Been coming to this place my whole life and still look forward to it every time.

Mediocre restaurant for Greek dining. On my most recent trip here we were disappointed with the early lunchtime meals we ordered. I had the meat ravioli(indistinguishable as seen in photo) and my friend had Greek spaghetti(big enough for 3 people). I showed the photo of the ravioli to another friend and she said«what is that»? My sentiments exactly. The spaghetti can be found under a pound of feta. My side salad was ok but in excess also. Garlic bread was inedible and yes we tried. Once the lunch rush hit our waitress was MIA. I have eaten here several times(not always my pick) and still unimpressed. It may be hit or miss but too many«misses» for me.

Went here for dinner after work while on a business trip. Had the Spaghetti Combination plate with house salad. Very large portion and they make there own dressing for salad. My co-worker had the chicken salad and he said it was good.

The food was pretty underwhelming. I was excited about my kabobs with tzatziki sauce. Generous portions but my tzatziki sauce was basically just a thick mayo with a few herbs in it… very bland. My husband’s dish(pasta) didn’t have much flavor either. For Mediterranean, I think we’ll stick to Stoney Knob.

Uh oh, it’s lunch time… and all the restaurants in West Asheville and Downtown are worn out, heck let’s go to the hinterland — South Asheville. Why would anyone want to go to South Asheville? Other than to be transported into an area of town that feels as generic any other city in the U.S. if that’s what you crave, another reason is good ol’ Apollo Flame. The people are nice and the food is consistently good and served quickly. I always get the same thing: the gyro platter; mainly for the Greek dressing. I try my best to saturate every square inch of my salad with, don’t judge me. It’s a great local spot.

The food was bad and the service was rude to us when we complained that we got the wrong order.

I’m giving it 4 stars cause the food is pretty good and it’s a lot of it too! I love the Greek dressing they have, the servers are always nice and the food comes out quick. Too bad they don’t have a more diverse drink menu.

Great toasted subs and Greek style gyros. The potato salad is first rate as well. If you are looking for Greek/Mediterranean in a friendly casual atmosphere, this is your place. After a hard day of driving, we loved it!

APOLLOFLAMEHASALWAYSBEENOURFAMILYFAVORITE. The one on Hendersonville Road is the BEST… staff is so friendly and efficient and their food taste better. GREEKSALAD, GYROPLATTERS, PASTA, PIZZA… ANYTHINGYOUORDERWILLBEGREAT. This is the Original location. 23 yrs. They must be doing something right. Seems like they get voted best Greek/Mediterranean Every Year. My dad says the owner goes in 6AM to get everything ready everyday… it shows: They have Excellent food and the place is spotless and runs incredibly fast and efficient. TRYIT I PROMISEYOUWILLGOBACK. We randomly stopped here while driving through town, and are so happy we did! The music playing in the restaurant did not fit with the theme, but we were extremely happy with it regardless. My wife and I ordered a tossed salad to share with their Greek dressing. The salad was huge and the dressing tasted amazing! We also ordered a large all meat pizza to share. We asked to substitute one of the preselected meats and it was no problem and no charge. We are both still astonished by how delicious the pizza ended up being. The sauce, cheese, and flavorful crust made it perfect and so delicious! We can’t stop raving about it :) Luckily we had some extra to take home so we can enjoy it all over again. We were also the very first table for a new server; she did amazing and made us feel right at home.

With a name like Apollo Flame, one would assume there would be Greek food. You’d be wrong. $ 1.99 for sweet iced tea. Eggplant Parm soggy. Pasta assume sweet and bitter at the same time. 2x here. We’re done. Cannot recommend.

The meals are very affordable, which is always a plus. You can easily get out of there with something under 10 dollars. The food was really good. It was nothing too crazy and verged on a little too greasy and fatty, but it was tasty nonetheless. It’s great for some cheaper pasta or subs, but maybe not so great for a really nice dinner outing. The setting is definitely more casual than I first expected as well.

Wow… First off let me say this is NOT a «fancy» Greek restaurant but it gets 5 stars because the meals are fantastic, service is typical southern friendly, cost is way down(under $ 10per). If you’re in the area and looking for a great local joint this is your place.

Feel like stuffing yourself to the gills with mediocre Greek food? Apollo Flame is your spot! The portion sizes are huge. Almost too big, and the prices are dirt cheap. For $ 7.99 you can get a small stack of lamb Gyro meat, a pita, and a greek salad that’s piled impossibly high on your plate. It’s probably a pound of lettuce. The downside is that with prices this low, the quality suffers. The Gyro meat seemed like some sort of frozen sliced meat product. They definitely weren’t carving it off the meat-torpedo. The salads are also lacking in any toppings. You might get one or two olives and pepperoncinis. The rest of the menu is made of pasta plates, sub sandwiches and a random smattering of Italian dishes. The desserts are good, especially the Baklava. The food is consistent, just not really good. The service is extremely friendly, and it seems like a popular neighborhood spot so I won’t hate on Apollo, but don’t go out of your way to eat here and don’t come with big expectations.

I love this restaurant. Good food, low price, and fast to come out and be served, EVERY single time I have been there which is often. Now if you are a snobby person who likes gourmet food then you might not like this place. But I get the Chicken Parmesan sub with the chips(although I have had the potato salad and it is great too). You get a lot of food that comes out quickly and tastes wonderful. It’s a great place to go on a night on the town or even comfortable enough going there after hiking(which I wouldn’t usually do). Highly recommend!

I LOVE this place. The portions are HUGE and the prices are extremely cheap. I’m a college student and travel to Asheville every now and then. When I am there, I always work Apollo into one of my lunches. The staff is so friendly and the owners always make sure you leave happy. It’s a must try, for sure!

We been here twice on a couple of visits. Both times we’ve ordered the gyro plate or a combination. Both times the food has come quickly. Both times it was okay, inoffensive, but not good Greek food. Maybe the other stuff is better, but you would think a place with the ‘Apollo’ in the name could do a better job on the Greek dishes. Maybe put some garlic in the tzatziki?

The«Greek» salad was really sad… I had two whole olives and pepperoncinis and the feta cheese was almost nonexistent… just a dusting of cheese… no chucks or pieces? I ordered the Combo Gyro Platter and was really disappointed. The sliced lamb meat I received was like deli-thin sandwich meat and I was expecting a more substantial cut of lamb. As for the seasoned chicken on my plate… they were like chicken tenders with some italian dressing pored over them. My wife had the Egg Plant Parmesan and the eggplant was soggy and lacked any flavor… her salad was huge but was 98% lettuce… where’s the olives, onions, pepperoncinis, feta cheese? This was our first trip to Apollo Flame Bistro and I could not be more sincere here… I can do much better at home fixing what I was served at this restaurant. I really don’t know why this place seems to be so popular, but judging by the recent Unilocal ratings, people are starting to get the true picture. Would we go back? NOPE On a side note… service was excellent. Also, The Black Forest Restaurant on Hendersonville Road has the best Egg Plant Parmesan anywhere hands down!

Portions are huge, but the food is basic. I usually just ate the salad and never even got to my meal. I’d take it home for later meals. Order less cheese on top cause they are quite liberal with the mozzarella. My roommate and I always got the chicken Parmesan, eggplant parm, or gyros. I like this place for its hand paintings — we always sat next to the two men painted next to each other in the corner of the restaurant. I also have nostalgia from this place of long summer days and eating leftovers every night. Cheap and generous portions are key to their success.
