Ben’s Penny Mart is a great convenience store with better wares than your average 7⁄11. They have a small selection of Japanese snacks (a nod to big brother Ben’s Tune-​Up next door), and a good number of local beers, which are available for individual purchase. They also now have TVs, which makes the Penny Mart a nice quiet location to catch a game.
They have recently added Foothills Meats, as the other reviewer noted, which really completes the experience for me – people-​watching at their streetside bar while enjoying a meaty sandwich is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon.

Meat. Sandwiched next to Ben’s Tune-​up (think beer) and within tiny Ben’s Penny Mart you’ll find a small deli operated by Foothill Meats, who have a larger operation down the road in Black Mountain. Great meat sandwiches piled high. Changed my mind in fried bologna sandwiches. Fantastic hot dogs and Cubans. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and you can dine in or take out. Casual atmosphere. And they serve bottled and draft beers which enhances the experience. After all, this IS Asheville.
