Cedric’s Tavern

Came here to watch Super Bowl 50 and it was a really chill experience considering it was game night! A guitarist sang and played alternative music while we sat up at the bar and watched the game. Huh!
It’s located on the Biltmore Estates so we did wine tasting first — «pre-​gaming» it if you will. Then made our way to Cedric’s to switch to a brown and pale ale which were both delicious. However, it’s their home-​made ginger beer in a signature Moscow Mule that is truly the best (or Russian Donkeys as I tend to order after one too many).
We had the Jack and Coke wings which were large meaty whole wings drizzled with a tasty cream glaze. Yum!
And you can’t go wrong with the Bison Burger! WOW! Litterally melts in your mouth!

Stopped by for dessert and coffee after visiting the Biltmore House. I ordered the cheesecake and the menu description was larger than what I was served. No kidding, three bites which works out to around $ 2.75 per bite… way, way over priced. No idea I was buying presentation rather than food. The other three guests at the table got fair sized portions but all agreed — not again. Save your money and eat better off the estate.

Every time I go to Cedric’s the food is delicious and the service is always delightful… Particularly my server George, such a nice young man, made my Cedric’s experience one for the books! To start, I always get the ham and cheese appetizer. Oh and the complimentary house made pickles are my favorite! Also, make sure you order the dinner special! Always creative and delicious.

I was pleasantly surprised with our visit to Cedric’s Tavern. Our server was nice and fast to refill drinks, answer questions, and checked on us frequently. The food was incredibly good.
I had the grilled cheese with portobello mushrooms and their signature house soup. It was so good (I even included a picture).
My friends’ food was quite good too. They highly recommend the reuben sandwich, too.

Great bloody Mary’s. I wandered in to kill time and ended up staying for a couple of hours.

Flawless experience. Outstanding crisp service, wonderful food, clean, and classy. They accommodated my request for a vegan entrée and could answer my questions on vegan fare.
Presentation was amazing. They gave us house made pickles as an appetizer while we waited. Perfect! I would definitely come again!

I don’t often take note of service unless I’ve gone to a place enough to say there is trend in their hiring practices. The service at Cedrick’s is impeccable. They answer questions and are polite and patient, they know their wines, beers and the food they serve. Every time I go I’m impressed with the consistency in the quality of service I can expect. The whole Biltmore hospitality is wonderful and I would hope for the price point of everything.
My favorite way to start the meal is the deviled eggs. I’m not a huge deviled egg fan but I am a huge fan of however they make their deviled eggs. Good flavor and I’m not sick of eggs when I’m done eating one, in fact I could eat all three. The corn fritters are my second go to appetizer. The fritter is standard fritter yum. But the butter is something I could eat on its own. I’m not sure how often one should admit to wanting to eat butter with a spoon. But this is a special case with special butter.
For main meals I’ve tried the veggie risotto which is delicious and recommend. I tend to pick the specials because I love the fleeting aspects of specials. Here today gone tomorrow or next week. Plus they have extra delicious specials. The last time I went I had a fish stew that was fantastic and creamy and not at all fishy… If that makes sense.
Last thing to note is the prices are a bit high but so is everything at the Biltmore. But that just makes eating at the Biltmore a fun thing to do every once in a while not a daily habit.

Came here hungry after a long day of exploring the Biltmore. Luckily we had reservations, so we only had to wait until it was our time to be seated. We grabbed a few chairs at the bar, ordered some drinks, and started chatting. They have a decent beer selection, even featuring beer they brew too! A lot of wine by the glasses, mostly coming from the Biltmore winery.
Ordered the poutine and calamari appetizers which were delicious! They also feature a house made pretzel bread with mustard seed butter. We devoured those and even asked for seconds. My husband and I split our main course which was the steak entrée. It comes with this seasoned butter on top that really pulls it all together. Our friends loved their meals too!
Check this place out when you’re at the Biltmore, but be sure to make reservations!

My wife and I are a fan of this restaurant in Antler’s Village of the Biltmore Estates. One of our favorite places to dine and chill. Our bartender Scott is outstanding! Always enjoy the cuisine and pinot noir from Biltmore Winery. Evening musicians provide an extra ambiance to this cozy tavern.

Nestled on the grounds of the Biltmore House and Gardens, this little Irish-​esk pub/​eatery is a great way to visit the Biltmore without paying for access to the grounds.
You can access this eatery after 5pm or so if you have reservations.
The food is good, staff attentive and they even have space for private events.
Throw in the outdoor seating and live music on the courtyard in the warmer months and it makes for a must do if you are in this neck of the woods.

Don’t miss out on this place for lunch. Food was delicious and service excellent. I will be back! Chicken sausage pasta was just garlicky enough, went nicely with the Biltmore pinot noir. Butternut squash soup some of the best I’ve had.

We ate here for lunch after a Segway tour on the Biltmore Estate. We didn’t want to go far since we were going to tour the Estate, so choices were limited. We had a pleasant lunch sitting outside. I had the bison burger. I’ve never had bison before and it was very good. A burger with cheddar and bacon — can’t go too wrong with that! Add a beer (which we did), and it definitely hit the spot.

Service: 5 stars. Jessie was our server and I cannot say enough great things about his attention to detail. He’s quite honestly the best server I’ve ever had in Asheville.
Food: 4 stars. This is a higher end kind of pub food. Great flavor, great presentation.
Price: 2 stars. I think Biltmore knows they «gotcha» when you commit to spending a day out here so I guess they say what the hell, let’s charge twice what other places are charging in town for the same quality of food. I mean $ 27 dollars for a lobster roll with fries??? That’s BS. Even more so is a pint of local draft beer costing $ 7 when a pint of the same anywhere else is $ 4. Perhaps their reasoning for these exaggerated price hikes is to deter the locals from wanting to mix with their tourist guests.
So if you’re a tourist and you have budgeted for expensive meals then you’ll be fine. But if you’re one of the many locals who have annual passes this is probably not going to be your go to local hangout.

A very good lunch after touring the estate. The pork sandwich with Sashito peppers was fantastic, the fried chicken thigh and leg were good. A kids grilled cheese with fruit was good and my daughter enjoyed it. Beer on tap was good and local of course and had a mixed drink that was well made. A nice environment as a whole.

You know those hotel restaurants that are convenient because you don’t want to leave the premises after a long day at a conference? Well, you know how they are just «meh» then, right? That’s how I would describe Cedric’s Tavern.
Cedric’s is located on The Biltmore Estate and it is the only place you can sit down and eat before hitting the vineyards and other outdoor activities. The views are gorgeous, but the food isn’t anything to write home about.
After soaking in the view and ordering lunch. There was a Ruben with homemade chips, burgers and beers for the table. The Ruben is the only thing worth coming to Cedric’s for. Now, I am by no means a pickles fan, but again their homemade pickles are «out of this world». If you are looking for a long lunch (and you don’t really have a choice for a «nicer» sit down at the Biltmore) then Cedric’s is your place. The waitstaff seemed rather busy and it took a few asks before we got waters and refills, which is unacceptable.

Convenient to the Biltmore, but still pricey. Smaller portions but average as far as flavor. I had the fish and chips, crispy and flaky haddock. Pickles were offered, unusually sweet and vinegary.
Enjoyed seeing the huge photos of the family and the various dogs. Would have liked more descriptive placards.

This place is inside of the Biltmore Estate perimeter, at the Antler Hill village. You have to purchase a ticket to the Estate to get to Cedric’s.
After a long day at the Biltmore, we were ready for a late lunch. Last year when we were at the Biltmore we ate at the eatery directly by the mansion, the food there was much more reasonably priced than at Cedric’s. But if you’re looking for an actual restaurant, then head here.
It has an Irish pub feel, with a full bar and their own namesake beer that they brew. We sat at the bar. I had to ask the bar tender for the pickles that so many Unilocalers mentioned. I’m not sure if you have usually ask for those or if the server is suppose to automatically bring them out. The pickles were my favorite thing about this place. As we were sitting there a guy came in a bought 10 jars of the pickles. The total was over $ 100. I love pickles and I’d have bought some, but not at the $ 11 a jar.
I ordered the buffalo sauce calamari and peppers mixed in they them and it was a pretty big serving. I’d recommend it but probably would get a burger and fried or something like that the next time.

In all honesty, there are only 2 reasons why my husband and I visited Cedric’s Tavern:
1) Convenience: We were already at the Biltmore Estate
2) Necessity: I needed food to soak up the alcohol from a wine tasting session lol (hubby was fine :-o)
That being said, this restaurant is expensive and not the best restaurant on the estate. However, there are some positive things going for it. First, the location is really nice at the Antler Hill Village & Winery. From May through October there is live music on the lawn right in front of the restaurant, which is very cool. There is also entertainment at Cedric’s during the early Spring. Also, the restaurant itself is inviting and laid-​back on the inside… good for groups or couples.
In terms of the food, we started with the Spicy Buffalo Calamari, which I’ve had at other restaurants with success. Cedric’s version was Ok, but too chewy. Next, I ordered the highly popular Fish & Chips, which was solid, but lacked some flavor. My husband had the Carolina Bison Burger, which features cheddar, bacon and onions. He said it was cooked well and he really enjoyed it. Overall, the food did not completely measure up to the cost, but hey… it’s the Biltmore Estate. I noticed some reviews that mentioned slow service, but our Server was attentive and on point. Since I come to Asheville often, I will likely be back and try something else. Happy eating!

So of course this place is a little pricey it’s on the Biltimore Estate property??? First all this place is putting out some good pub food. We walked right in and got a sweet little table next to the window looking out to the beautiful scenery outside.
We started off with some very delicious bloody mary’s garnished with some tasty house made pickles. For our entrees we shared the lobster salad and the bison burger. I might have been slightly hungover and starving but man that was one tasty, juicy burger. I love a good burger and this bison burger did not disappoint it was served with some hot seasoned fries as well. The lobster salad was fresh and delicious. Huge chunks of lobster dressed in a light vinaigrette with plenty of crispy veggies included.
Our server was super friendly and took care of us well. They do have a decent beer menu with some Biltimore beers or as another Unilocaler mentioned (Highland Brewery actually brews the beers for them).
Overall I would visit this pub again if I’m visiting the Biltimore I thought it was delicious.

We went to Cedric’s for dinner and looked at the menu, we said to ourselves «what these prices are considered $$?» To be honest it was on the higher end than we expected but ordered what we wanted anyway because we are on vacation of course.
When it came service it was just OK. Waiter took a little too long to take our order but we weren’t in the rush so no big deal. The server did not give us a cutting knife for our entrees so we had to wait a few minutes before we could cut into our steak and chicken. After we asked he brought it over quickly, but without a an apology for us having to wait. I’m not really a nit picker but for a $ 44 steak you expect somewhat better service than Applebee’s. His overall service and manner was fine though.
Here’s what we ordered:
Surf and Turf — it was two 4 oz pieces of filet mignon each topped with 1 piece of shrimp. Accompanied with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. Meat cooked perfectly as requested Medium. Sides delicious as well. $ 44
Chicken and Dumplings — according to my husband the chicken was dry, so that pretty much ruined the meal. I think this was $ 18.
Appetizer, buffalo calamari. — because it was covered in buffalo sauce it was a little soggy but the flavor was good.
We each had a cocktail and after dinner drink.
We spend a total of $ 137 including tip.
We also went to the Stable Café the next day. In our opinion the food was much better over there, although I’m not sure if they are open for Dinners. We had lunch there. I will review the that separately.
