This is the worst service/dining experience I’ve possibly ever had. We placed our order and got our drinks, then our server disappeared for 30+ minutes. We were so hungry… we figured that they forgot our spinach dip, but our server was nowhere to be found to even ask about it. Finally she comes out with our entrees; I asked about the dip and she says«oh I totally forgot to ring it up.» So we gave up on the spinach dip and moved on to our entrees… my husband’s burger was cold and my salmon still had the skin on it, which I realized half way through eating it. They comped his sandwich. One thing they got right. Finally we were ready to leave. Our server picks up my credit card, then proceeds to sit down with her friends right in front of us and carry on a conversation, holding my card for ransom. Um hello, your friends will still be there after you swipe my card. Worst. Dinner. Experience. Ever.

How fast things change. In my first review I gave EVG5 stars. This was two fold. The taste of the food and the value for the dollar. Well the taste hasn’t changed much but the value for your dollar has gone to hell. Our first order of Tiger Shrimp had about 2 dozen for just under $ 10. 2 dozen shrimp regardless of the stupid name for less than ten bucks is a bargain. They call them medium sized and that is very honest. I grew up on the St. John’s river four blocks from where the shrimp boats docked and I would buy our families shrimp for what the market buyers were paying. Our supper was swimming around less than eight hours earlier so I know my shrimp. Our next two orders had 9 shrimp and 11 shrimp. This is NOT a bargain for ten dollars. I have had enough. I called the restaurant and wanted to know exactly how many shrimp were supposed to be in an order. After much himing and hawing and consulting someone else I was told 16. When I asked for credit for the two very short order’s I was told that since I had eaten them there was no way to prove the truth. I am 60 years old, well off, and dying in a hospice. At my stage in life I am not going to start lying about a few shrimp. I went ahead and placed another order and told her that they had better learn to count. Well 14 is closer to 16 than 9 I should have been happy. I can tell you that they aren’t going to be happy when they get the charge back from my credit card company. Now they are still going crazy on the fried mushrooms. If I had tried I may have died before I was through. Now another mystery in life. They sell a hamburger called the kitchen sink. It has 3 different kinds of cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms, pickled green tomatoes, steak fries on top of the burger, bacon, and all other kinds of stuff for $ 14.19. Why do I bring this up? I ordered a plain burger for $ 9. I added 1 slice of cheese and grilled onions. They charged my wife just over $ 15 for that crap. We did a charge back on the entire order. The people who work there show just how bad our public schools have become. You can bet your ass I wouldn’t have anyone working for me who can’t count to 16.

I was looking for a place near my apartment for a quick lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to find this place had a full bar and great menu. I love a good Ruben and this was one of the best. Stacked 3 inches high with lean brisket on fresh marble rye was delicious. The server was very helpful and fun. I will be eating here often.

We came to the East Village Grille since it was close to our hotel and we were pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was very attentive but not overbearing. I ordered their margarita since it was on special and I have to say it was the best margarita I’ve ever had. No sour pre made mixer was used, very fresh and clean tasting. My boyfriend and I ordered the smoked Gouda pimento cheese appetizer and he’s not a fan of pimento cheese but he LOVED this kind. I ordered their tiger wings for my meal and he got one of their burgers. We were very surprised with how good everything tasted and even talked about coming back for lunch the next day. I now regret that we didn’t because this will be the place I visit every time I come back to Asheville!

We were driving around and just stumbled upon this cozy joint. We had the tiger wings, tiger shrimp and split the grouper rueben. My boyfriend and I both agree this is our new favorite restaurant in Asheville. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. The service was also friendly and very quick. This is a must try!!! We will be back time and time again.

We had heard good things about the East Village Grille, as a good, reasonably priced neighborhood spot in East Asheville, but sometimes it comes down to a matter of expectations and about how those expectations are met. We didn’t expect it to be so difficult to find a parking place at the restaurant on a Thursday night. We didn’t expect the noise level in the restaurant to be so high it was difficult to carry on a conversation. We didn’t expect it would take two hours to have dinner at a sandwich-type place(though to be fair we did have a group of 10, and it appeared there were only two, perhaps three at most, pretty harried folks handling the entire dining room service). We didn’t expect our tiger wings appetizer to be served at the same time as our entrees. I didn’t expect my medium burger to be cooked well done. I didn’t expect my steak fries to be kinda soggy. Bottom line: Not bad, and reasonable prices(my burger with cheese and fries was less than $ 10), and obviously popular with East Asheville residents, but since we don’t live in East Asheville we wouldn’t go out of our way to go back.

Love this place and their food! Their chicken is awesome. My only complaint is that they charge .95 cent for ranch!!! Seriously people? Who charges that much for ranch? I can buy a whole bottle for not much more…

I am from out of town, and I’m always worried about good places to eat. We looked to Unilocal and found this place. The staff is very nice and very fast. The food was great I ordered the kitchen sink. Which was a burger on wheat bread two different types of cheeses, bacon, mushrooms onions fried. It was amazing.

Had the«Brontosaurus Burger», it was excellent. An angus party cooked to order with a fried egg, sunny side up, Swiss cheese and fried onions. This burger certainly requires a Brontosaurus size appetite!

We’ve had both lunch and dinner here and both were excellent. I really rave about their Blue Ridge Fish & Chips, though. It’s a deep fried grouper that’s as good as any we’ve had in New England! Plus some tasty steak fries and cole slaw as well. Hard to beat, though not cheap at $ 15. Service is prompt and friendly, the beverage assortment plentiful, and the premised clean and well kept. I heartily recommend The East Village Grill for lunch or dinner when in this area.

DON’T PATRONIZETHISRACISTPLACE! Came in and was not acknowledged at all. A patron told me it was seat yourself after we stood at the entrance for almost five minutes. We sat down and waited patiently for about 10 minutes. During this time, 3 waiters came by to serve other people and to clean tables. No one ever asked if we wanted something to drink while we waited or if we’d been helped. My friend even noticed that someone else came in after we did and were served. I guess they don’t serve people of color here. Will not ever return and will make this known to others.

Yum yum yum! Highly recommend this place. Ribs were moist and tasty. Mashed potatoes were fresh with lumps & skins… Just the way I like them. Husband gave the prime rib two thumbs up.

Our absolute favorite spot for wings in the country. I have yet to eat one better — I am convinced there is no competition. Tiger wings — crispy. They are large breaded wings doused in tiger sauce. A little spicy, a little sweet, pretty much perfect. Complimenting these amazing pieces of meat are home made ranch and blue cheese dressing. Again, top shelf, perfectly crafted masterpieces. Every time I am in Asheville, east village is an absolute must. Good selection of local craft beers. Friendly staff. Never had a bad meal there — even though the majority of the time I eat the wings! EATIT!

We stopped by here for lunch while traveling on I-40. We saw the good reviews on Unilocal so we decided to spread the love. My wife had the Triple Decker sandwich with cole slaw and I got the Reuben. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing. It’s not a bad drive from the interstate so we highly recommend this place to those traveling on I-40.

This local, family owned business will be sure to leave you satisfied and with a full stomach! My girlfriend and I stopped by this place for lunch after a recommendation from a resident of Asheville. When you walk in, you are free to sit wherever you want which I really liked. The ambience was very homey with an overall friendly, and welcoming atmosphere. Behind the eating area there was also a bar, which I unfortunately did not get to try! Maybe next time. I ordered the Cheeseburger Club with fries and my girlfriend ordered the Greek omelette with grits. The food came out at a reasonable time and the portion was huge! We both ended up having to pack up our food for later at the end. The choice to have the beef cooked medium was probably one of the best decisions I made. The beef was tender and the cheese, lettuce, and tomato complimented it perfectly. One of my biggest surprises about the meal was how well the bun was toasted. It added a kick to the flavor which I really enjoyed. The fries were fresh and tasted like it. My only concern was that there wasn’t enough compared to the size of the burger. The Greek omelette was also reported to be good too! I completely recommend trying this place out if you’re ever in town, you’ll be glad you did!

This is a great, local, family-owned business that was recommended to us by a staff at the hotel we were staying at. I ordered the Greek Omelet off of the brunch menu and was surprised at the portion. The bacon was crispy, and the grits were probably the best I’ve ever had, with a non-watery texture and just the right amount of salt. The omelet itself was pretty good too. The feta cheese and kalamata olives were a little too salty for the outer egg covering, which was made just right. Other than that, I had no complaints. My boyfriend had a sandwich with fries. No comment about the sandwich, which I did not get to try because he devoured it all, but I got to try a homemade fry, which was clearly a potato slice fried to perfection. The service was especially good. Not sure if it’s like this all the time, but the waitress was very friendly and chatted with us without coming across as obnoxious the way some servers do when they clearly like to talk a lot. The fact that this restaurant was family-owned and local gave it a more personable, unique experience.

This is a great burger place for the folks on the east side of Asheville. Our family goes here probably once every couple of months to fulfill our burger cravings. Service is usually friendly, but can be slow at times. Unfortunately, they tend to be understaffed during busy afternoons(like weekends). The food is great and we’ve never had a complaint. We usually order a burger, some wings, and sweet potato fries. If you’re not craving those things, they also have salads and some good Greek or Mediterranean dishes. Overall, if you’re on this side of town and don’t feel like traveling to the other side for a good gourmet burger or salad, I say give it a try. You might like it.
