This place is great! I went to a show here and it was amazing. Everything is really well-organised, wristbands are provided so you can still go outside and grab a smoke, get fresh air, sit down, whatever. Bathrooms are clearly marked and easy to get to. The vibe is great, the staff is friendly, the size of the venue itself is great. The looks of it is good, it’s not super divey but not overly fancy either if you know what I mean. Audio and visuals are great, not overly loud(I’ve got slightly sensitive hearing and yes, I did bring earplugs in case I found it too loud) but it was perfect. Not too quiet either of course. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Can’t really give feedback for the venue except… I received a gift of a groupon for suicide girl’s burlesque show. Time listed is 7pm. I don’t necessarily expect a show to start at 7 but… You collect the tickets give us wrist bands and direct us to a line. When we ask when we can expect to go in you say«door opening was pushed back to 7:30»… No apology, no explanation… Seriously? And what time might the show actually start…“maybe 9″. Not sure who was responsible for the screwup but at least be forthcoming with some information. I would have handed my tickets off to someone else. Piss poor service.

This venue is really awesome! The space is great for music concerts, burlesque shows, political rallies(go Bernie!), comedy, art and more! Perfect sized, not too big, not too small. They also do occasional shows outside allowing a huge crowd. I have seen some really amazing shows here, I have seen some really crappy shows here. Regardless, the space is fun. If you do happen upon a crappy show, you can always meander to their upstairs bar, the Sol bar! My only complaint about New Mountain is that the staff have often been rude and/or unfriendly. This has been true on occasion at the venue bar and I’ve also witnessed people working at the door being very cold towards show attendees. New mountain has been hosting some great musical acts though and I will definitely be back!

NOWORKINGBATHROOMS. Paid for a show and had to leave to use the bathroom across the street. Way to go.

Amazing venue! Very nice employees! All the female bartenders were the worst bartenders I’ve experienced in Asheville but the male ones working the Moe show were wonderful. The females tended to not acknowledge people waiting for over 20 minutes, but other than that– the venue was great! Just lose the dreadlocked blonde bartender and the place is perfect!

New Mountain has taken over the large complex that has been home to Hair Spray, Metropolis, 828, Remix, etc. etc. etc. Where as there were once multiple clubs and venues operating under one roof, they are now one cohesive unit and Asheville is reaping the benefits. The main stage at New Mountain is simply exquisite. Tremendous sound, an incredible light array, and a really nice elevation. One can catch shows on the floor, or from one of the two balconies. Although the space is massive, shows still feel intimate. There’s one bar which is typically quite busy, but efficient. Prices are fair. If you’re patient it’s solid. If you hate waiting for a drink you may find yourself sighing, but you’ll get your chance to order quickly enough. There’s quite an eclectic mix of talent being booked here as well, in one month they bring electronic music legends, brutally touring indie rockers, and well known stand up comedians. Before going it’s important to note a few things. First, New Mountain serves liquor, so it is a private club. If you’re not with a member I would recommend showing up at least 15 minutes early so that you can purchase a membership(there’s a nominal fee associated with this.) Next, New Mountain does have a rather large parking lot, but if you’re not planning on arriving early you may miss the chance to grab a spot. Plan accordingly!

Good live bands. Chill atmosphere. Not your best selection of beers and drinks. But good for a wiskey and beer.

The fact that these guys are throwing shows outside as well as in puts them in a class of their own. Great booking agents and a centralized location. I was a little worried when I heard yet another music venue was coming to town. Not that I don’t love the ridiculous amount of music that comes through. I just see how hard others work at this as well and want everyone to succeed. I’ve been here quite a few times now. We watched the world cup inside(I don’t think sports are the norm). The Mantras killed it inside. Larry Keel out back was some of the best music per $ I’ve seen in Asheville in a LONG time. And they had pingpong inside during the show! That said, there is a little room for improvement. Only having one bar seems to be hindering the amount of booze people can get. And having them in line in the dance floor and possibly blocking the way to the bathrooms just seems. I was recently told there was another bar upstairs though, although I havn’t seen it. Also, I’ve noticed that the acoustics on bassier shows don’t sound quite right. I’m sure these guys will figure out a way to fix that. Other than that, top notch. Excited for the future.
