This place is in such a prime spot downtown, and is super cozy and hip on the inside. Definitely a place to check out for a few fancy cocktails and an amazingly filling charcuterie board before they close down! I think someone told me they only have a week or two left open. :(Not sure why, the place is great! I wish I had more opportunities to go earlier, to be honest. If you go, sit at the bar and chat with the lovely gentlemen bartending. They can make you something yummy. Also try the meat board and pimento cheese hush puppies. You will not be disappointed. The airmail cocktail was refreshing, lite, and perfect along side our fairly heavy apps. I’ve only been for quick bites and drinks out, but I’m sure a fancy dinner would be super here. Stop by before it’s too late and give them some love!

Super unfortunate that Seven Sows is closing down soon. Tonight I had the treat of enjoying a craft cocktail, artfully concocted in front of me at the bar. Rum, lime, honey, sparkling wine. The Airmail. The Charceuterie board was something to write home about. Variety of meats, bread and purées. All fresh and delicious.

Go sit at the bar. Seriously, go sit at the bar! The bartenders are wonderful to speak with and really know their way around liquor. We had a lovely discussion about bourbon and Scotch that left me feeling inspired to try something new beyond the usual reliable suspects I’ve rounded up. The discussion felt like the old-school bartender speak that people often long for, but the place was still sexy, in a wood-panelled country cigar shop kind of way.

I didn’t eat here, just drank, but great cocktails. My friend got the bourbon based, Lion’s Den and really enjoyed it. I can’t remember the name of my drink, but it had rum, champagne, honey, and lime in it and tasted very refreshing. The bartender was very helpful, explaining ingredients that we had never heard of! There is also a nice outside patio area. All of the food that I saw come out looked and smelled very good. Would definitely visit again. *Also, for a Saturday night in Asheville when most places are packed, this place was very low key.

This place has a rustic upscale feel. The staff were all wonderful especially our waitress Joy C. She knew the menu well and helped us decide what to get. We started with the sweet hushpuppies with the pimento cheese fondue. They were not as crunchy as we usually like but had a lovely flavor. The fondue was amazing, it had a perfect amount of heat. My husband got the Charcuterie board and loved it. The whole pork terrine and the hogs head were his favs. I got the Mangalista bone ramen soup. It wasn’t very enthusiastic about it. It lacked flavor. I did love the ramp hidden inside. Hubby had a Cider beer from Cali and we chose Lillie Dukes butterscotch for dessert to share. It was fantastic. It was a lovely Anniversary dinner at a fairly quiet place and had unique charms.

I feel like I’m just showering Asheville with stars, but this place well earned their 5! Seven Sows is a great place for a date or friendly gathering, with private barnyard chic booths boasting all sorts of southern sass. Naturally, we hit the sauce upon arrival. They offer really affordable whiskey and bourbon flights as well as reasonably priced wine and beer. There’s a full bar that we didn’t get to explore, but we were quite happy with our picks. We started our dining experience with a whisky flight and really solid cab sauv paired with hot, crispy hush puppies dunked in pimento cheese fondue. All. So. Good. Then came the big decision… Dinner. It was a challenge picking only two entrees off the list of down-home-cooking delicacies, but we opted for the seasonal shellfish ravioli and staple buttermilk fried chicken(mainly for that mac’n’cheese side). The ravioli was rich and decadent, with a healthy portion of seafood artfully displayed in delicate pasta pillows. The fried chicken had that clean crunch and amazing flavor… But it’s that creamy delicious mac’n’cheese that left a lasting memory. Holy wow. All the portions were more than generous and appropriately priced. Our server was perfectly polite and knowledgeable, making us feel right at home. The restaurant had a casual feel, is clean, and cute. Oh, and to top it off, they played the best music. This will definitely be a restaurant on regular rotation for us in Asheville!

My husband had been dying to try this place because of the word«bourbon» in the name. We were able to score reservations on a Saturday night through Open Table. The décor is charmingly rustic, with lanterns and dried flowers. They featured a retro play list of R ‘n B and Motown. My husband was disappointed to find out that they were out of several bourbons that he wanted to try. Our server couldn’t have been any more patient or helpful. She made suggestions until my man settled on a drink. We ordered the hush puppies with pimento cheese. Oh my stars! I could have licked the bowl, but my mana taught me not to do that. We also shared the Brussels sprouts without bacon and the vegetable and grain dish. Both were exceedingly flavorful. My mouth is watering right now thinking about that food. We want to try this place again. Hopefully, my husband will discover the bourbon of his dreams.

**This review is only for their drinks & desserts.** Their Old Fashioned is one of the best ones I’ve had. Our Bartender definitely took his time to create this lovely drink for me. You can’t pass up the Bourbon flight — they had quite a selection for my husband when we went in Feb 2015. You MUST try the Lily Duke’s Butterscotch Pudding which comes with Blackstrap Molasses, Peanut Butter Fudge, Wild Blueberries & a Shortbread Cookie. Deliciousness on a plate. :)

So many great things to say about this place. Thanks to Unilocal for this great find. I made reservations on a Friday evening and walked into this quaint little restaurant. The menu is full of small plates and some entrée size dishes as well, we decided to stick to the small plates on this night. We each started with 2 different types of oysters on the half shell, OMG these were so good I could have had 50 more. They had 4 different oysters to choose from and the waitress was very knowledgable in explaining each one by texture, and taste. We also ordered the short rib tortellini, chicken and pastry, and the pork belly. Every dish was so unique and executed perfectly. I really don’t have a favorite they were all dishes I would order again. Service was fantastic and they also had a really reasonable wine menu. We shared a bottle of Rioja for under $ 35 that was the bomb. There are so many good eats in Asheville that it’s hard to choose where to eat. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will be back on my next visit!

We decided to sit at the bar after coming in for some appetizers and drinks before heading out to explore the remainder of Asheville on a Sunday night. Also take note that they don’t open until 5:30 on Sundays, not 5:00 like the hours say on the Unilocal page. I got the Naked Cider that was on tap for $ 5, while my husband got a take on an Old Fashioned in a rocks glass for $ 12(usually more than we spend on a cocktail). The bartender was Old Fashioned himself and crafted his drinks with large ice cubes in a glass beaker that was stirred. The water is also served out of old whisky bottles which I liked. The highlight of the night(besides seeing lemon peel being lit on fire for drinks) was the hush puppies with pimento cheese fondue. O.M.G. they were so good. It’s the cheapest food on the menu at $ 5 and come with a pyramid of hush puppies and liquid gold. We ordered 2 between the 2 of us, they were that good.

I have heard the food here is delightful, and this place hosts some of the best fried chicken the south has to offer. I was nearly in tears that we did not try any of the food but after eating a dinner elsewhere, this was the first stop for my best friends bachlorette and wedding weekend. The drink list here is extensive. Mostly hard liquor here but a few beer and wine options. We were afterall in the market for the Bourbon so the lack of other drinks did not bother us. We were seated at the bar and watching the bartender work was sure an entertainment to me. Most of the drinks there are complicated. not like your usual run of the mill red bull vodka… The average drink he prepared had at least 6 – 10 ingredients and sophisticated ganishes. Charred ginger? Mint blended with some type of syrup? Grapefruit peel dipped in chocolate? It was so fun to just watch everyone’s drink being made. Everything was from scratch and none of the garnishes were pre made. He literally earned my tips. A place I highly recommend to drink(and apparently eat) in DT Ashville. I would totally come back here!!! FRIEDCHICKEN!!!

My friends have been raving about Seven Sows and let me just say, this is serious food people. We went last night for a tour of the menu, meaning we tried a huge hunk of their menu for an upcoming blog post and we were hooked at first bite. You MUST try their hush puppies with pimento cheese fondu while you peruse the menu. Their drink menu is around 6 pages so good luck narrowing that down! We opted for cocktails, the Brown Betty, Freedom Punch and Lion’s Tail. I don’t think there’s a bad drink in the house. If you’re a bourbon drinker, I’d try their flight. Food? I cannot go through everything we ate but will say that this food is intentional, complex and lovely. I can’t wait to go back. The Charleston White Shrimp with polenta batons, chantrelle, corn and shrimp ragout and butter white bread purée with baby basil was eye rolling delicious and my favorite dish of the night. The House Charcuterie board was perfectly balanced with cheese and house made mustard, jam and pickles. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken seriously lives up to all the accolades. My husband could not get enough of the Pork Shoulder with sweet corn purée, blueberry bbq, chantrelles, and heirloom squash croquette. The wings passed by on the way to another table and they were BEAUTIFUL. An absolute must. One of the only restaurants I’ve ever given a perfect 5 stars.

The wife and I heard randomly about Seven sows bourbon and larder from a friend who was visiting Asheville like 6 months prior. He didn’t eat there, but rather figured that we would like it based on the word bourbon in the name and maybe he looked at the menu, I don’t know for sure. Either way, I looked at the menu and read some reviews online, and when it came time to celebrate the wife’s birthday, I made a reservation. We had been walking around Asheville all day, so we were ready to sit down to a good meal. We do fancy ourselves bourbon people so that’s where we started. Unfortunately, the wife’s first choice was not available but her second pick(
