Delivery Time: 4 Customer Service: 3.5 Food: 5 DISCLAIMER: This was a delivery order, so I do not know anything about the inside of the restaurant. Now that, that is out of the way… Delivery Time: My food was delivered within reasonable time. It took just under thirty minutes for my food to arrive and the food still tasted fresh. Customer Service: The delivery person called me four times but I missed his calls because I unknowingly put my phone on silent. I expected a nasty attitude but he just slightly rolled his eyes and heaved a bit lol. That’s fine because he didn’t spit in my food and that’s all I care about. I gave him a 3.5 because although I made him wait for all of three minutes, the customer is always right so his slight eye roll and heave were«unprofessional.» Food: The food was definitely reasonably priced. I got about 8 or 9 pieces(I didn’t actually count) fried calamari for $ 7 and it came with this delicious dipping sauce. They were both delicious. For the main, I got the Shrimp Teriyaki Hibachi lunch and it came with a Miso soup. To my surprise, they also gave me a small spring roll with a sweet sauce. It was delightful. In the hibachi lunch, there were three California rolls, white rice, and some sort of a vegetable medley. Long story short, the food was good and I would recommend lunch takeout from them. I’ll try dinner before developing a final opinion.

So Aki is only a block away from us here in Astoria. We always order from them. Their sushi is good but we noticed that everytime we order food there for lunch the food is not as good when we order for dinner. The food is good but I don’t recomend to get their entrees for lunch.

Very reasonable lunch specials and selection. Attentive service, higher than average selection of rolls, and it was delicious. A new addition to my favorite rolls is the Ginger Mackerel roll. The lunch special comes with soup or salad, so we order the salad, and an extra soup because they’re so tasty. Their green tea was on the house! Glad I ordered it. Our inner fat kid came out and we also shared an extra Philly roll. Next time I will talk my girlfriend into getting dessert!

This place is great for cheap sushi rolls as the other reviews suggest. When you are craving the standard sushi why not go somewhere with amazing prices. My only complaint is that sometimes services takes a while so I don’t come when I’m in a rush. Otherwise, for ambience I go to Watawa a few doors down. For price and solid sushi Aki is clutch.

Food is always good and inexpensive but the service is horrible. We waited for 40 minutes only to get the wrong order and have them take it away. I never even got the salad I order. We walked out, never again.

should have checked with my trusty Unilocalers before ordering delivery. i trusted seamless and was disappointed. i usually eat at jj’s on 31st avenue but thought i’d branch out. the vegetable gyoza tasted ordinary and frozen. the snake roll was unimpressive and too mushy. :(

Good for the price since the rolls range from $ 2.50 for veggie to $ 4 for tempura rolls. They’re a little bit smaller than other places, I think, including the fish inside, but good for that cheap sushi fix. The rice is a bit blander than say, Aji’s. There are a bunch of sushi places in the area so I’d say if you’re hurting on money, come here for some cheap rolls. If you’re looking for great quality, this probably isn’t the best place for you.

If you feel like getting food poisoning I highly suggest you eat here. If you are sane and consider yourself rather healthy with the occasional indulgence in sushi, avoid this place at all costs. I have never in my life been as sick as I have been since eating here. Speaking candidly, I never have been the victim of food poisoning until now and I wish this experience upon none. One time is all it takes which is more than enough for me. Consider yourself warned!

Atmosphere is a little tacky, but waitress was very friendly. We ordered Cali rolls, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, white tuna … All $ 3 per roll. That’s a good deal, all rolls $ 3. These are decent rolls. If you don’t like crunch, make sure to tell them u don’t want any crunch in your spicy rolls. Enjoy the good prices, but I wouldn’t suggest taking a date there. Good for friends pigging out

If I could give this restaurant a 0, I would. I hate when I see people write that about an establishment, but I’ve had such a horrid experience that must be shared. I am so unbelievably sick from the food I ordered for take out last night. I have never in my life felt this sick when ordering from a restaurant. Either someone did not bother to wash their hands, or the food was just plain old. never again. BEWARE.

Aki gets three and a half stars and the half star bump up because, it is what it is. Aki is a discount sushi place with decent sushi. There is a lot of competition on the block for sushi. Aki is the clear price winner, hands down, blind folded. There is no pretentious anything at Aki. They have a menu. They are well decorated and clean. They half half price sushi. They will take your order then leave you to whatever it is you do besides eat. The rolls are really well priced. Every salmon combination I have tried is good, including the New York roll with apple and mayo. If you are looking to impress someone, there are places with nicer décor on the block. If you want to eat, not break the bank and get a pretty no frills, cheap experience, without worrying about getting sick or having gas station like sushi, Aki wins hands down. As a discount sushi spot, it gets four stars. It is what it is, and it doesn’t pretend to be what it is not.

I can’t really give a good review about this place since i don’t know much about Japanese food in general. However i tried this place the other day after reading positive reviews from other Unilocalers and it was pretty good. I had salmon sushi, which was okay. I guess i wouldn’t like it as much if it was $ 3 but at $ 1.50 it was a pretty good deal. I also had New York roll and i loved it. Plus at $ 3 it was an amazing deal. As i wrote before i don’t know much about Japanese food or do i eat it often, but as a person that didn’t have huge expectations i was pleased with the food that i got for the money that i payed. Plus the delivery didn’t take too long.

I will never return. There are 3 other Japanese places right next door on the same block, which have better décor, food and service. I came here during their grand opening. Not only was our order taking very long(people who came in a while after we did were getting their food sooner than us) but they brought out all the hot food before the sushi. When we inquired about our sushi they said the sushi chef was busy(obviously with all the new walk in/take out orders but not attending to our order even though it was placed 15 – 20 minutes prior to theirs) OK I can let that slide… they are working kinks out… the problem was customer service and we can blame the manager here… Our order was incorrect. We asked for Chicken and Steak Hibachi. We only received Chicken. After we pointed this out, it took so long for someone to come back to address it, we were 1⁄3 the way through(hungry from waiting so long) The waitress mentioned a possible discount for the error but when she returned she said«The Chef said he can make you steak to add to your order» WHAT?! are you really that cheap and ready to ruin your customer service because you wont properly correct your mistake? So we just told them to bill us for the chicken hibachi, although thats not what we even ordered. At this point we were pretty annoyed. One of the rolls my fiancé ordered was inedible, some mushroom roll. Tasted as if they were bottled/pickled mushrooms. We concluded that another delay in her rolls(mine came out way before hers) was she asked for brown rice. They must have tried to rush this bc the brown rice was undercooked and she barely touched her sushi. After we requested the check and the waitress asked if she should pack the rolls, to her surprise we did not want any of the left over sushi and told her how the brown rice was undercooked. There was no apology from management, no courtesy given. I believe there are way too many great options in Astoria to settle for mediocre food and service. Their last restaurant did not last in this location(noodle place) and I foresee this closing within 1 year.

Very nice restaurant. I’m definitely a fan of theirs. I hope they get kama sake someday! Starters ====== Shumai Soup: C Four shumai in a salty won-ton broth. Yuck. Appetizers from Kitchen ================== Fried Calamari: A Fantastic. Nice breading. Cooked so that the calamari is soft and not rubbery. The sauce tastes like spicy mayo based sauce, and was truly stupendous. Kama Hamatchi: A– The collar bone of the fish is typically very fatty and the tastiest part of the fish. The piece I got wasn’t the best kama I’ve ever had, but it was still extremely good(kama is just plain delicious — even crappy kama is super spectacularly delicious.) This kama had a little less meat than I’ve seen on other collars and one small piece of it was a tad drier than I’m used to, but the flavor was fantastic, and the rest of it was that soft, moist, oily goodness that people expect of kama. Chilean Seabass: A– I’m 85% sure it’s NOT real Chilean Seabass. It’s some kind of very delicious white fish, not Chilean Seabass. Still, I might get it again… it was quite good. Appetizers from Sushi Bar =================== Salmon Tartar: B+ Very good, but not head and shoulders beyond other salmon tartar I’ve had. Tuna Tartar: B– A tad bland. Needs wasabi sauce or something to give it spark. Chef’s Special Rolls =============== Queen’s Roll: A Diverse flavors that work very nicely with each other. An outstanding roll. Sushi & Sasimi a la Carte =================== Hamachi: A Excellent yellow tail. Fresh. Spicy Tuna Sashimi: A– Served in a cucumber«bowl». Nice touch! Not worth $ 3, but definitely worth $ 1.50. Katsu ==== Chicken Katsu: B A tad dry but nice flavor.
