The duck burger is the bomb. It looks like a pulled pork sandwich, and it is super messy, but 100% worth having to change out of your clothes afterwards.

First, they take reservations, and will have a table when you arrive. Food is good — attractive fresh salads, good burgers(even the rare Ahi tuna burger was excellent), delicious fries. Clever and tasty iced tea concoctions. Prices are about $ 15 for a burger and fries — well worth it for what you get. Atmosphere lively and service was good humored and excellent. Definite winner for a reasonably quick meal pre or post theater.

I visited a few months ago and tried the Wiki Wiki with Sweet Potato Fries(always my option if I have a choice with fries) the burger was really yummy. The pineapple flavor really stood out, I wasn’t sure initially about the Wild Boar but it was actually really good alternative to the standard beef. I felt as thought I was on an island briefly until I heard the cars honking. I really enjoyed the outside seating option. Would return when I am in the mode for a semi healthy burger.

Waited 45 minutes after ordering without being approached only to be informed that they didn’t have chicken. We left without eating our food. Probably wouldn’t come back.

The sweet potatoes fries were AWESOME!!! Best thing they have going there; in addition to their staff who is super friendly. But the prices of this burger place are so outrageous, i will not return. I spent 24 dollars on wrap friend and milkshake but it tasted like I spent 5 dollars at a fast food joint in the 2000s. So i ordered the farm(something burger) with guacamole and quinoa. wrapped in collard leaf. i did not find it to be flavorful because they weren’t generous with the stuffing. I also was very disappoint that my flavorless quinoa wrap cost 10 – 11 dollars. I just wanted to hit the roof. What actually drove me to this restaurant was the dipping sauces. But i didn’t realize they would charge you for them because i expected it to come with my meal. It doesn’t! I also ordered a chocolate milk shake that was delicious to the taste but was not thick. It was like a chilled Yahoo so i could have appreciated more cream in my shake and less milk. A stranger came and took a seat next to me. she was complaining how the prices have increased and the food has gone down. She said to manage her budget she orders the kid menu. Get a load of the burger on the kid menu. the burger is more pathetic that a dollar menu buy at any fast food restaurant. Will i return… only for the fries but even then, you don’t get the sauce unless you pay. thats sad. is this what we have come too?! next we’ll be paying for to go containers.

Food was great, but this is the second time(of the three times Ive been to a Bareburger) that the service was really sub-par. Good food AND good service are not only the cost of entry in the NYC restaurant scene, but also the requirement to stay viable. They might want to start addressing service before they start seeing these stars decline.

Craved a burger… ordered a burger. Ate the burger. The burger was pretty good. Ended up customizing a burger(Bison, tapioca rice bun, cheddar, duck bacon, mushrooms, paprika mayo and kim-chi slaw)… I think it was a $ 25 burger. Stick with getting one from the menu. My favorite of the night was actually one of the crops dishes(had mushroom, brussel sprouts and fried quinoa)… seasonal dish. I tried to make it at home but I failed.

They have high chairs! We also came in with our huge jogging stroller and they accommodated us! It was great we were comfortable and out of the way. The burgers are good, but next time I think I will try a chicken sandwich. We got the chicken tenders as appetizers and I loved those with all of the sauces. The burger was not out of this world, but then again my choices weren’t either. I stayed pretty safe choosing beef and basic toppings — i was not feeling adventurous at all. My husband tried the wild boar, which he said wasn’t bad, but then later admitted he wouldnt get again.

One of the best burger I’ve had in a long time. I ordered the southern caviar. The bacon and bison was done perfectly. You also get to make your own burger which was pretty cool. Only downside was that our waitress Freddy disappeared over half the time we were there and never checked up on us. Otherwise this place is great for a local burger.

I used to really enjoy the burgers here, at least at their 31st Ave. location. This was the first I tried here and it is one of those things when you think you’re having the best burger but once you’ve tried something better(Burger Club) then you realized what you thought was the best is just mediocre. That’s how I feel about these burgers now. They are extra small and lack taste compared to the aforementioned place. I stopped coming to Bareburger quite sometime ago until about a month and half ago. I had a $ 50 gift card so I decided to try them again and I sure didn’t miss anything! The burger I ordered was supposed to come with bacon(no bacon!) on my pick up order. Wasn’t inclined to come back to complain since I had no real intentions on returning in the future. The fries — so-so. It’s just one of those things!

Good burger. A+ burger! Not here to discuss the burger. My boyfriend and I went to Bareburger because I love meat and he loves vegetable matter shaped like meat. We had a jolly Easter and everything was chill and radical, until Some Dude comes up with the check, and by check, I mean that swipey thing, like one of those doodads that clips onto your iPad mini to collect your money in a modern and millennial way. So this dude comes over, and I’m like, ‘Nah babe, you got the last check, I’ma pay’ so I had this dude my debit card, he swipes it, hands it back to my boyfriend instead of me. And I’m like, it’s 2016 and I’m in a burger restaurant where everyone is wearing pedestrian clothing. So I mutter something audibly about institutionalized sexism. At which point this dude gets real flustered and I sign the thing(and tip him!) and he goes away to the back or wherever people go who work in restaurants when they’re not near the tables, I don’t know. Anyway, this guy comes back, and very sympathetically rests his hand on my boyfriend’s shoulder, and whispers to him that he’ll get him a drink, on the house. This is very blatantly in response to my earlier comment, as if to say«damn, I’m sorry your girlfriend is such a gd monster. take this single free soda as a brief respite from your garbage ball and chain life». My boyfriend politely declined because he knows he’d get a time out in the basement otherwise(ha ha. jokes) but seriously, this dude should not have offered my damn boyfriend a free drink when all I’m trying to do is smash the patriarchy. I wouldn’t go back again, but I’m looking at the photos other people have posted of this place and the onion rings look pretty tasty, so I probably will again

Lots of hype about the burgers being so crazy good so I finally tried it and was underwhelmed. El matador burger was okay; the bison patty itself was great but it stole the spotlight while all the toppings got lost in it. I expected a really dank burger for $ 13. Side of fries were okay, slightly soggy as one can expect with any take out order of fried food. The kimchi slaw was probably the highlight of the meal.

I was excited when this location first opened up, we needed a good burger joint to open up since Just Burgers closed down so unexpectedly. But I can’t help but feel that Bareburger is only appealing to one type of customer — hipsters. Why else would they a take a perfectly delicious pork belly bacon off the menu and replace it with duck bacon? In my book, duck bacon, country bacon and turkey bacon are not real bacon! Major disappointment there. I’ve only ever had the beef burgers and they were dry and the fried chicken cutlet which was sliced way too thin and thus dry AND hard to chew! They don’t have real coke, they have some sort of organic colas which are a bit sweet imo. The salads are good and the french fries are very good. I’ll give them that. Plus they have options for vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free customers as well. The service is also very good, the staff there are very friendly. But they take on a certain health stance that feels contrived and condescending. A person tries to live their life in a healthy way so that they can go and have a burger once in a while. I don’t need flax seeds on my burger bun, I’ve already flax seeds in my yogurt in the morning. I’m all for having good free-range, pasture raised, humanely raised, antibiotic, gluten and hormone free meat, yey! But is it really necessary to nix the bacon and add flax seeds to my burger too?

Amazing food and fantastic service. Just below the final stop on the NQ in Astoria, this is the best place in Astoria-Ditmars to get a burger and something tasty to drink. My favorite burger is the semi-spicy Fire Quacker(beef, but they also serve it as duck) together with a Crabbie’s ginger beer. The latter is a special treat to anyone growing up drinking virgin ginger beer. It’s a tall $ 7 bottle and definitely a great deal on a budget. Do yourself a favor and order the off-the-menu macho fries. They’re Bareburger’s take on loaded fries, and they’re to die for. A very sizable portion of fries(sweet potato fries upon request) topped with avocado, cheese, and jalapenos, it’s a heavenly appetizer to share with at least one person. The service is very friendly. Don’t let their use of cell phones to place your order put you off. I mean, the first time we came here I was a little taken aback, but tonight when the almighty Chris was putting in our order, our drinks came to our table before we had finished putting in our order for burgers. Chris is an especially incredible server – I hope you get him. He’s so friendly, nice, outgoing, and most importantly, genuine. Total boss.

OMG is this good! So amazing! I was not expecting so much variety in burgers! But you can choose your protein which are all organic, range-free meats as well as gluten-free options AND vegan options! My husband had the El Matador which was a bison burger. He loved it and left only scrapes on the pâté. My daughter had the supreme, which was a beef burger. It was HUGE. I hike she loves it, it was too big to finish. So delightful late night snack went home. I had the Guadalupe which was a black bean burger it was amazing. It is definitely the best black bean burger I’ve had since leaving California more than 20 years ago. Tomato big jam sauce was a huge hit as a dipping sauce and we all split one side of fries, which we were thankful that we had decided to do. Andrew was our server and was the best most delightful person ever. Thank you for a great first experience Andrew!

Love/hate relationship with this Bareburger location. Pros– The food is excellent. I’ve had everything from burgers to salads to fries and other apps– can’t complain there. I would love to buy a few bottles of that curry ketchup to have at home! Cons– The customer service can really use an adjustment. I’ve had to wait to be seated many times due to tables not being cleaned or hostesses not getting around to my party. Also, I’ve come after 10pm a few times for dinner. My boyfriend and I live up the block and love a late meal. We have had servers and hostesses refuse to seat us. I know it’s late but you close at 11pm. Anywhere else we would be seated without a problem. My biggest peeve lately is that without fail they never have the Lions Head Pilsner. What gives? It’s a great beer and you can’t beat $ 12 a pitcher. What a disappointment for them to «run out» so often. I generally don’t rant on Unilocal.I love this website and I think it creates great business for our local restaurants. I’m writing in hopes that the owner or general manager sees this and addresses some of the issues I’ve experienced.

Bareburger is my favorite burger chain in the city. I like how the eco-consciousness augments rather than detracts from the quality of the dishes. At this location, I’ve never had to wait for a table. The staff is friendly and attentive. Food comes out pretty quickly. Only bummer is there’s no bacon marmalade on the menu. However, the pineapple relish and tomato fig jam will give you similar sweet and savory flavors.

TL: DR Original Bareburger. Good high quality burgers of various slash exotic assss meats. Free refills for soda. 10% off for Unilocal check-in. Daaam, the founders must be living the american dream cause their story of success is better than their food, which is not a knock on their food. Seriously, read how these guys found Bareburger and now a bunch of wall street types are knocking at their doors because Bareburger is up there with Shakeshack business-wise. If you’ve never been here before, you might as well go once to this original location cause they’re going to be as big as Shakeshack. it’s going to be like eating at the original mcdonalds! Ok down to the food, so I’ve had different bareburgers at different bareburgers(see what I did there?). It’s cool that you can eat animals that you usually can’t eat unless you shoot them down yourself in the safari(which is illegal), but most of the burgers i’ve had are… just good. They don’t make an impression on me like ShakeShack. Is it because they are too healthy for me? maybe, but I had the«Southern Caviar» here and trust me… just cause its free range organic craft farm to table meat doesn’t make it healthy considering you just put cheese and bacon on top of it. The great thing though is this place has free refills on soda!!! Seriously, I’m a sucker for free refills cause it’s so rare to see that in NYC now that I’m an adult. I don’t know if it’s because the times are changing or if it’s just cause I’ve been going to more fancy establishments. Also I know for a fact a cup of 20oz soda from a restaurant cost like 15 – 25 cents from the soda gun. Soda formula ain’t that expensive. I feel like I should give them 4stars just based off the fact they give free refills. Also it’s pretty cool they give 10% off for Unilocal checkin. So get in on that. Not sure if me talking about the greatness of free refills is me loving free refills or if it’s a knock on bareburger. I would suggest people eat at bareburger though just on the basis of their story, but their burgers are good too… just not my favorite.
