I was excited to try this unique place this weekend and was mostly impressed! We went for after dinner drinks and while my boyfriend had tried a few of the bourbon drinks that he LOVED and were very attractive in a glass, the only option for me was the Prosecco since the bar had no white wine and I don’t drink liquor very often. The decorations were fantastic and there is plenty of space so you don’t feel like your in everyone else’s conversation and I loved the music choices that drifted between many top hits from the past 20 years or so. The only complaint I really would have besides not having any white wine choices, would be the bathroom. It just seemed like they were forgotten about after a dinner crowd and were not super clean and no paper towels to be found(in either). Definitely want to go back and see if a second experience can change my mind on it!

Great place cool vibe, specialty cocktails! Also, I love the chalkboard touch, it’s fun and cute. The bartender was very friendly as well. Go!

Just happened to find this place randomly. Really nice place. Hidden gem. Nice atmosphere. Open until 4 am. Amazing drinks by mixologists(not regular bartenders) and they are amazing people! Just no food was the only issue. Will def come back here again.

I came here on a weeknight for a few drinks with a date and it was great. Basically had the whole place to ourselves with a nice, quiet vibe. The cocktails are far above average for the rest of the area and the atmosphere is great. I’m a patient man but still had a very poor experience here on a Friday night — We sat outdoors in the back and waited over 15 minutes for our order to be taken(we borrowed a menu from another table) and waited another 15 minutes for two drinks. We got the check after we finished those and with no sign of our waitress ended up bringing it to the bar to ring it up. Pretty abysmal table service, would probably keep me from returning here with a date on a Friday/Saturday. Wish that was not the case since I like the place otherwise.

Really great drinks, cool atmosphere, and the owner gave us a round of shots on the house. I’d absolutely come back next time I’m in the city.

It was a beautiful day in Astoria and I decided to do a bit of a bar crawl around the neighborhood. I ended up here on a whim. It wasn’t too crowded, but there was only one bartender and he was also acting as the waiter, bartender, dishwasher and chef. I felt frazzled for him. I had the BV Gin Blossom, which was great. Very floral and refreshing. The bartender also gave me a butterscotch shot that was delicious. Great drinks. I think this bar has a lot of potential and would definitely go back for more cocktails.

I’ve been to BV on numerous occasions, and it’s always a great time. Recently, I threw a surprise birthday party for my little sister there last month. I couldn’t have asked for better service. They have comfy seating in the back, and we had a whole section reserved for our party of over 10 people. The bartender is also super friendly and makes amazing drinks. BV is definitely one of my favorite neighborhood bars. Highly recommend!

Service review. Would I return? Not likely. Pre-arrival review: I made a res on via Unilocal reservations because I could. I wasn’t anticipating HH to accept a reservation, so I inquired on the«notes» section. Lo and behold, less than an hour later I receive a text(yes, a text) from a gent named Rocco confirming yes, you could indeed make a res for their HH that goes until 8p. He also shared that Doug and Matt will be working the bar and a «see you later!» Whoa. As a sucker for on point customer service, so far, I’m impressed. Post HH: So uh, we didn’t need the reservation. We had options in entire place for seating. Hrm. Great tunes. Great service from Doug. Beyond wonderful $ 6 old fashioned. Though my head now hurts from what I’d assume to be cheap whiskey. As we were hungry and expected food during what I presumed to be HH, we had to leave because kitchen wasn’t ready. Boo.

This place is a gem. All of the drinks were made from scratch and the bartender was a true crafter. Rum raisin($ 11) — absolutely divine! I was super worried when they said it had a whole raw egg in it but you don’t even taste it! It went down so smooth. It tasted like a white Russian. sangria– made from scratch. It was good but I’ve had better. Boyfriend said his old fashion was superb and very well mixed. It was a little bit on the pricey end but they drinks were worth it because they were strong and very well mixed. It wasn’t crowded so it was nice to just hang out and sip coctails.

The drinks here are good, but you will wait 10 – 15 mins at the bar to get a drink– even if its just a beer. Not because its packed, but because they are really slow. It’s kind of funny because I really cant find a reason why they are so slow. Otherwise the space is big and they have a nice backyard area. If their bartenders/servers could work a little faster they would easily be a 4⁄5 star place. There are so many other places to go in the area so considering the slow service this place is easily forgettable.

Came here on a Friday night early — there was only one other couple at the bar and one bartender working and we sat for a good 10 – 15 minutes before our drink order was taken. Some girl came in asking for a job(I think?) I wasn’t sure exactly why but she wasn’t a customer since she came in asking questions. Her and the bartender then kept on talking about some kind of job hiring service, checking their phones for contact info to exchange etc. Not once did he look over at us so we couldn’t get his attention. I don’t get it — shouldn’t he have taken care of us the paying customer first? When he finally came over to take our order, they were out of my first choice wine — he was nice enough to let me taste two other options before I decided on one. My husband ordered his cocktail and when he was done, no one came by to ask him if he wanted another — and by this time, two other bartenders showed up. The place is empty and they never stopped by to check on him. We flagged someone down and the cocktail he wanted(made with eggnog) they couldn’t make because they were also out of eggnog… now this is twice we’ve been disappointed with our drink choices. It was quiet and early and not many customers were there so maybe they thought they would use the slow time to prep for later when it may be busier but that doesn’t mean you should neglect the customers that are there now. I saw a kitchen but no food menu(just some popcorn) so ‘m not sure if they serve food only later on. The space is large so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t serve food — we didn’t stay long because we got hungry so we went somewhere else. We won’t be back — the service makes it seem like they don’t care that you are there. There are too many other places in Astoria with better service.

Fantastic experience, a local gem. Best eggnog I’ve ever had, and thought the service was good as well. Definitely a spot to bring a non-Astorian to show off the neighborhood.

When I saw the name of the place I had to try it out, my two favorite drinks as the name it sounded like paradise. The place is nice and very intimate however there was something about it I didn’t like just cant pin point it. I had one drink which was good but for some reason this place didn’t do it for me

They have a pretty large drink menu. There are a number of whiskeys, wines, cocktails, and even some craft beer. I had a couple of cocktails, which were decent. The service was a little slow. Especially since the place was pretty empty. One thing that I didn’t like was that the drinks on cocktail menu do not indicate the brand of alcohol used. To me this indicates it’s bottom shelf. I would think a place like this would like to highlight the types of bourbons used and not hide them.

The cocktails are awesome! Must try very cute date spot. I went with a group of 5. One had the old fashioned. Great! I don’t remember all the cocktail names but they were all a hit with our group. I have to come back for the food next time, especially the waffle burger. I accidentally forgot my iPhone and the kind fella working there ran out and found me to return my cell. if that’s not awesome service I don’t know what is!

Superstorm Hercules couldn’t keep Astoria’s best kept secret closed, so I trudged through the cold and snow to check it out. The gorgeous interior design seemed bit posh to a dive bar gal like myself, but as the saying goes«never judge a book by it’s cover» and the same holds true for this place. There are some whimsical touches, such as two entire walls of chalkboard paint, one where the staff has assigned themselves names of Disney characters(Dory, King Fergus, and Buzz Lightyear to name a few), that predicts that this establishment verges from the typical, uptight, cocktail and wine bars. I saddled up to the bar and tried the smoked margarita with whiskey, tequila and smoked paprika, which warmed up my insides and was just what the doctor ordered. Amber, one of the lovely bartenders, kept me company and we discussed the finer points of mid-90s music(Wonderwall, anyone?). Then my friend showed up and we whiled away the hours, I drinking the Kronic Tonic(sweet, peachy) and she a Belgian beer called Kwak. The beer came with a special wooden handled contraption you drink it out of, which Adam, the bartender, told us was made for coach drivers so they could drink and stay with the horses. We then received free French 75(refreshing, delightful) cocktails, as the bar is in the middle of their 12 Days of Giving promotion. Score! Overall, the Astoria-based staff was friendly and knowledgeable(I’m talking to you Amber and Adam), the cocktails delicious and the atmosphere fun, without being pretentious or loud(it’s so nice to be in a bar where you don’t have to shout to the person next to you). My one recommendation would be that they install a door guard, as when the place gets busy and the door is constantly being opened it got cold, wicked cold, which was the only reason we left(after spending over four hours there…). While I would like to keep this place a secret, it’s just too good not to share with others. So saunter on over, belly up to the bar, imbibe and be merry!

I don’t get the bad reviews for this place. The atmosphere is great. Beautiful lights hanging from the ceiling, a dark alcove providing romantic mood lighting. Friendly enough service, clean bar. Lots of interesting beers. Though, most of them I feel are bottled and then poured into glasses. And *cough* most of them I’ve had before. Looking at you Founders, Harpoon, UFO, and Bear Racer. But you can never go wrong with RiverHorse double or a dark pumpkin ale. I feel for once this is a gastropub where their bourbon and wine may actually be better than their craft beer. But this was a last stop of the road and it was past midnight. Their food menu sounds intriguing as well. Not sure how delectable it is, which just only means I will have to come back again in the not so distant future, but everything is either infused with booze or has a theme behind it with bourbon. Bourbon infused PB&J, Bourbon Bacon in their turkey club & blts, and a Bourbon maple syrup and glazed bourbon bbq sauce on their burger that is served on a sourdough waffle. Hi, yes, my name is Ingrid, and I will have one of everything with a side of BOURBON.

They really need to make some adjustments here. My friend and I came in late Saturday night to have some drinks. We’d been drinking a lot of beer and figured a change up was in order and with a name like Bourbon and Vine it had been on my list of places to go to for a while. We quickly found two spots at the bar and we waited for one of the two guys behind the bar to acknowledge us so we took the time to look at their whiskey offerings-a small range but with some pretty good options. We got to take a good look because well, if it wasn’t for my friend standing up and asking if we could get a drink list I’m pretty certain no one would have come up to us. Our ‘bartender’ looked like he was Ben Savage’s older brother from Boy Meets World gave us their booze list and then started taking care of other things. Right away, he said the phrase ‘sorry about that’ a lot. I’m not sure if it was just the long wait or maybe some other things but that wasn’t a good sign. My friend decided on Brimstone neat and I thought I’d get their Urban Bourbon. Our guy had to measure out the whiskey which he gave to my friend right away and then walked off(I assumed to make my drink.) Instead, what happened was that I waited drinkless while my friend had to nurse his drink until finally we called the other bartender over from the far end of the bar to say that I’d been waiting for my drink-which apparently there was no record of. The drink was okay, no mint flavors that I could pick up just a lot of sweet from the cherry juice that was just dumped in. We ordered another round and this time I got the Old-Fashioned, making sure we ordered from the actual bartender and not just the guy behind the bar. I thought it was a little on the sweet side, not enough whiskey too much of the sweet stuff. After this we cashed out and got a ‘sorry about that’ when our check was given to us, at this point I suppose that just became a mantra for him. I know it’s a new business and they opened pretty recently but if the service is any indicator I don’t think it will be worth coming back to.

Lots of alcohol inspired food«nibbles» and even better(and carefully curated) craft beers and wines — plus a pretty awesome environment as far as ambiance is concerned. I’ll definitely be back!
