Bungalo Bar Astoria

I would give this place 0 stars if it was a choice! Came here on a Thursday Night! Came in with my friend. And we ordered a drink. The bartender who also introduced himself as the Owner/​Manager made me feel very uncomfortable. I ordered a shot and he then tried to sell me a red bull with it. I constantly had to tell him No about 4 times because he insisted i should get it! My friend and i ordered hookah. It was whatever. But the reason why i would give this 0 stars is because The manager/​owner came by me from the bar when my friend went to use the restroom and SEXUALLY GROPED ME!!! He went in my pants to see if i was wearing a thong or not! It was the first time and the last time ill be ever going there! Absolutely disgusted by the behavior i was given. !

Came here on a Friday night with some friends hoping to have a good time dancing. We arrived a little after midnight. There was a ten dollar cover charge for EVERYONE, ladies and gentleman alike. That threw me off, but I wasn’t entirely turned off yet because 1) the cover charge could have been worse and 2) we each received a drink voucher so it was almost as if we bought a drink to get in.
The place was a lot smaller than I expected. If you’ve ever been to ERA lounge in Astoria, it is only slightly bigger than that. There wasn’t really anywhere to post besides the bar or a table if you were doing hookah, which we weren’t. There was a lot of Spanish music, which was OK for me in the beginning. I love a good bachata, but then the music started getting weird. The DJ’s transitions were pretty terrible. Pandora could have done a better job. At one point the DJ actually apologized for one of his transitions. He went from bachata to eighties pop to EDM and we all just kind of glanced at each other confused. I requested some reggae and was told no problem. Half hour and one DJ later, no reggae. My friend requested reggae from the new DJ. Still not luck, and this guys transitions were strange too.
The bathroom was fully stocked and loaded, unnecessarily so if you ask me. There were two stalls for me and two stalls for women and a bathroom attendant that directed you to the empty stall. The part that made me the most uncomfortable is that my stall door wouldn’t lock and the male attendant seemed to forget I was in there as he almost opened the door while my pants were down… Awkward. When I finished he squirted soap in my hands and passed me a paper towel. Offered me any gum or mint of my choice and also strongly suggested I tip him. I didn’t have any money on me… Also awkward. I rushed out back to the dance floor.
There was a random go-​go dancer on the bar for about an hour at one point. She was literally wearing a bra, like the kind I would wear under my tee-​shirt. Unexpected, yet another example of this place trying too hard.
I didn’t order any more drinks than the voucher I was given so I can’t speak to prices but the staff was nice enough. I accidentally knocked a drink out of my husbands hand and they came over and mopped it up within ten minutes, which I thought was good.
Overall, we had a decent time because we laughed a lot and had a great group of friends. Would I come back? Probably not… But if you’re in the neighborhood and don’t mind any of the above mentioned cons, I guess you could check it out at your own risk. Maybe it would have been better with a different DJ.
P. S. I almost forgot about this. My cousin tried to surprise me and stop by the spot and they didn’t let him in because he was wearing shorts. Pretty silly if you ask me. This place tries to be way more upscale than it actually is.

My first time in here (my friend is a regular) and I must say I will definitely be back! The bartender Will is very attentive and he even does magic tricks. You can’t go wrong with hookah and good drinks. This is a good place to hangout with your friends. If you are around Astoria and just want to have a good time, I would say to come here — the owner named Willie is so amazing. He made sure we were taken care of the entire night.

I ordered the wings and tater tots from here on seamless. I’ve had better food at a gas station. GROSS. Wings were not even real meat, tater tots were undercooked and soggy, I threw it out and after a few bites.

Would have given more stars but the service took a nosedive once the place got more full later in the evening. When my friend and I arrived at around 8pm on a Saturday, it was dead. We still decided to stay and overall it was fine. Quiet, but fine.
However, once it got later we no longer had the bartender serving us, and the cocktail waitress paid zero attention to us for the duration of our stay. When I decided to order a drink it took a while to get her attention. When she finally came over I ordered but the drink never came. At first we thought it was because it was busy but another patron walked up to the bar and was served immediately so it wasn’t that.
About 20 mins passed and we asked for the check. She then said «didn’t you order a drink?» I said, «yes but you never brought it so we are going to leave. Another 15 minutes passed before the check came. My friend and I split the bill, cash and a card. When she came back I told her to split it but she said «I can’t split a card». Well duh, no you can’t split 1 card lol but I told her to pay the bill with the cash inside, and put the balance on the card. The bill was $ 72. My friend gave $ 40 in cash. I was to be charged the balance and do the tip.
When the receipt came back I was charged $ 63. Apparently she thought some of the cash was her tip??? For what, her nonexistent service? Anyway, I had to complain to the manager, who ironically was the one who made the error, to get it fixed. Overall a decent time of girl chat over drinks and just okay food had a sour ending. We’re not going back, and hopefully the issue with my charge will be resolved!

This bar is lgbtq discriminatory !! The bartenders were ignoring both my friend and wife who happen to be masculine women. The bartender even started to throw ice because we kept asking for drinks. Next up were the security guards who were also insulting my wife who was on the other corner of the business and was told «it» is not allowed to come in. First of all she was not in your area, she was in front of another bar. Smh we are in NYC. They should be reported to consumer Affairs because what they did and acted is both state and federally illegal. If you are lgbtq dont go to this place!!! You have been warned!

I came here on Saturday and had a surprisingly good time. The DJ was playing all the hits from 2009 – 2011, which is important because those were my golden years of partying. This also means my old self should be in the house more often, but alas, I am a party girl.
They had $ 5 patron shots all night. I had $ 5 patron shots all night.
From what I recall, the crowd was diverse and I didn’t get approached by any goons. In all, a fun night was had. I would go here again.

If you looking for a spot to have a good laugh, good food and drinks, then definately come and check this spot out on Tuesday. My co-​workers and me wanted to have some cocktails and food after work and found this great lounge and they also had a Comedy Show at 7pm. It was a blast! The food was good and the drinks was on point. The comedians were great and the Host was hilarious! Will definitely go there again.

What a great time I had tonight at this place. Turns out they have a free weekly comedy show on Tuesdays and it was one of the best shows I have ever attended. All the comics were great and the host was very funny and made everyone feel welcomed. We enjoyed the happy hour which had drinks and food for $ 5. We are definitely returning back on a Tuesday!

I always order from this place and not once have I’ve been disappointed I especially like the Hennessy wings and even though they have 12 different flavors to choose from the Hennessy flavor is the best… for me anyway. Plus there kitchen is open till 3am… love it!!!

If you are looking for a place that has amazing food, great music and ambiance then Bungalo in Astoria is the place to be. Happy hour takes place from 5 to 8 pm on the weekdays. $ 5 dollar drinks and $ 5 dollar appetizers from chicken quesadilla to jalapeño Mac and cheese. This place stays open late every single day until 4 am. Different flavor hookahs and ladies Thursday’s are for you. Ladies drink for free from 11pm to 1am. Whether you are in queens or the city Bungalo is definitely worth your trip. If all above hasn’t sold you yet you should come check out our beautiful bartenders.

Great food, great music, and a great atmosphere I will definitely go back again. They also have great hookah available.

Shout out to the blond bartender with the bun tighter then her face. Ordered 3 shots during the 5 dollar shot for 5 minutes and sge took our order then continued to take and serve drinks to people who arrived AFTER my friends and I. If you offer a drink special you should honor it. Don’t ignore us for people ordering high priced drinks. After multiple times of reminding the bartender that we were still waiting we gave up. No drinks still, thank you to the cheap ass bartender who for some reason it hurt to just give us the 5 dollar shots. Music was good though.

I have been here couple times. Always empty. Music doesn’t make sense to décor, atmosphere and the only two people who are there at times. Drinks are pretty standard but pricey. Wouldn’t make a effort to go back …

The food was good but it is not a place for teens. Its a bar and if you’re a teen they’re gonna ask you to leave before 8pm. The service was slow. They don’t have everything that is listed on the menu.

Been here one time by accident. I have no idea how a place like this can stay in business. It’s so basic and not charming at all lol

This place has nothing going for it. I’ve come here enough over the years to leave me wondering how this place is still in business. Always empty even on a Thurs/​Fri/​Sat night. Their drafts taste suspiciously watered down and I know my beer. The DJ however, will play whatever you request within a reasonable amount of time. Service is below average and unattentive.
Don’t think I’ll be back even as a last resort.

This could be one of the worst places I have ever gone through. Not really sure why anybody would go here. There was a $ 10 cover, but the place was completely empty. It was nine dollars for beer, nine dollars for a mix drink. My beer tasted skunky. The music was only so-​so, they played some sure Hispanic music and then transition to complete house music.
I am not in Hookah, don’t smoke, but my friend said that it was terrible.
Only go here if you’re willing to spend a ton of money and not care that you’re not going to enjoy yourself.

This review will explain why they have a total of 4 people in there establishment at 10 on a Saturday night…
Ordered grub hub from them around 8. I gave them a 15 minute window after the eta before calling them. I spoke to a female at first who told me she would find out the status a call me back. No call.
I call back 10 minutes later to speak with a man who complained for 10 minutes how the delivery man they hired was an idiot. Then told me once my food was delivered to call back and they would reimburse items from my order. I asked for an eta and he said «if I gave you a number, I would be lying.»
At this point they have my name, order and contact info at the restaurant and I politely asked (while growling inside) to call me back if the order was not possible so I can get dinner from somewhere else.
I get an email saying hey reordered it through grub and eta is now 10:05. Mind you, over two hours from original order. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and was going for a 10:05 miracle.
Once again, 10:20 approaches. I try calling the restaurant 14 times before finally getting an answer. A woman scolds me for being upset and questions if I ever actually placed the order. Then proceeds to say «Don’t come at my like you’re my boss.»
I explain that I will be inconvenienced once more to put a bra on and come pay their clearly welcoming establishment a visit tonight.
So I start dressing when the delivery of cold, hard, unappetizing food actually arrives at 10:35 (2 hours and 35 minutes after original order.)
I took the unopened bag back to the restaurant (a 3 minute walk, that took a food delivery over 2 hours to happen.)
I go in and speak to a bartender who pretends to be manager while the manager immediately walks into the back when he sees me. She blames grub hub, then the delivery man and then proceeds to blame me. Clearly this was my fault.
I simply asked for my money back and gave back the unopened food. NOPE! They refused to give me any reimbursement after a 20 minute conversation. I decided it was not with my time anymore and that no way a place with such horrible customer service will ever survive…
I hope this review is seen my the owners and they question why there are only 4 people in their establishment on a Saturday night.

Terrible. Boyfriend and I walked in on a late night to find great music but poor crowd. The cover is super over-​priced, the drinks are expensive and not strong, the bartenders are not friendly. I would never eat here, but based on the other reviews, I’m sure it sucks.
The only pros I see of Bungalow are that the music is sometimes fun and you can smoke hookah.
