This is without a doubt my husband and I’s «go to» restaurant! We absolutely LOVE this place. From the laid back environment to the superb food! Everything falls into place. Yes you wait a while for menus, food, etc. That is part of a WONDERFUL meal! Who wants to rush in and out of a restaurant? Not me! My life is hectic enough, so I truely enjoy the quiet time. We take every one of our friends and family here when they visit! Never has it been a disappointment! Keep up the great work! See you soon.

Maybe my standards are really low… But I genuinely like this place… Their drinks SUCK! But the service is good and you are never rushed out of your table. My mom loves this place, maybe I just love it because she does… Not something I die for but I would make the drive there.

My family loves Italian food, so as you can imagine I’ve been to my fair share of Italian restaurants. Just Arthur’s is our favorite hidden treasure. The food is delicious and fresh, the waitstaff is friendly and attentive, and an open table is almost always available. I really like there eggplant rollitini appetizer, or try their fettucini alfredo if your feeling particularly decadent

My boyfriend and I pop into this Italian eatery every couple of years. It’s right down the street from where we live but to be honest, we normally choose other places with better food and service in the area. I love the old school décor and music from the forties. It feels like you’ve stepped back in time from the moment you sit down. That’s the best part! The other night we went for dinner and I was reminded at how LONG it takes to get the menu and how LONG it takes to get waited on and how LONG it takes to get your food. I love lingering over good conversation and a delicious drink more than most of my friends, but this place never has enough wait staff to take care of the customers. The bartender is acting as a waiter alongside one other man who has worked there for 50 years. They take forever to take your order and the attitude is not very friendly either. The food is mediocre and very greasy. I guess I always think it might be better than I remembered but then I am quickly reminded of why I don’t eat here often.

My large and rather picky italian family have been eating here since i moved into Astoria 5 years ago. Our very first apartment was 5 houses away, so even as we moved apartments, we kept going back. We recently went back this past winter and it was just as good as i remember it! The staff is super friendly(peggy is aweseome!) and also the cooks were able to make a few of the older dishes no longer on the menu. The gnocci dish is i think the best i’ve ever had(my dad and i agree we can’t find a better sauce anywhere!). Even my super finicky grandfather, who usually hates any italian restaurant calling itself«italian», liked it. It is a little on the pricier side, but the food and staff is definitely worth it every once in a while. and i think we’ve all eaten the majority of the dishes, and they were well cooked, seasoned(no ketchup and fish sticks) and over all delicious! Definitely worth a try, coming from the picky italian family :)

I’ve always loved the name. But perhaps it’s time for a change. Might I suggest Just Marginal? Nice waitstaff, but food is expensive dreck. Had a spicy marinara pasta dish that was nothing but reheated sauce from two nights ago with some unnamed tongue burning spicy stuff that made it unbearable to eat. I should mention that upon walking into the bar area that it smelled faintly of used diapers. Spend your hard-earned dollars elsewhere.

Despite seeing not-so-good reviews on here, I have heard good things from people in the area who have been to Just Arthur’s. I’ve lived in the area for about 4 years, walked by and wondered about the Mafia connection myself. I decided to try it for a small group of friends. We all ended up enjoying the food. Among the 8 of us, we ordered a variety of dishes from seafood, to meat, to pasta; items from the menu, specials, and our own creations. The staff said they’d be able to make a dish for us even though it was not on the many, but they did have the ingredients. Everyone enjoyed his or her meal and the service was not bad at all. Yes, the place was pretty much deserted with hardly any other customers. Not sure how usual it is for a Wednesday night. I will say the seating area was too dark, even for us to read the menu easily. Anyways, my experience was positive enough that I would return.

I love this place!!! I find the food to be delicious, they typically have about 4 appetizer specials and 5 entrée specials. The ones I have had have been great! Everything I’ve ordered off the menu has not disappointed. It is the kind of restaurant where the meal takes about 3 hours finish, the service is deliberately slow. They want you to enjoy the meal versus being rushed out by servers intent on turning over the table, which is a pretty refreshing change. Although it can be a little creepy, I wonder how they stay in business, everytime I’ve gone there there have been many more employees than customers… But check it out, I love it!

Just Arthur’s is a traditional Italian restaurant on the corner of Steinway and Ditmars in Astoria. I went there for dinner with V, because we’ve jogged by a few times, and a friend said it’s pretty good. Before we headed out, I searched for reviews, and found one so glowing I thought the reviewer was paid to write it and a few others that were more in line with what I thought(after dinner). The service was friendly and food was good, but not anything really unique that blew me away. V had a penne dish with sausage. I enjoyed a few bites, and as leftovers the next day with some added cheese, it was great. I had meatloaf, something I figured I wouldn’t make at home anytime soon, served with mashed potatoes(real) and corn(from a can). It was pretty good, but not too memorable. The side salad was iceberg lettuce with a few cucumbers, carrots and cherry tomatoes – and the largest glob of ranch dressing ever. Overall: good for a low key and relatively cheap dinner in the neighborhood, but i probably won’t be bringing many out of town guests.

My fiancé and I decided this place is a front for the mafia. There is no way a restaurant in Queens, Astoria no less, can be this bad and be around for so long. I ordered shrimp fra diablo and got fish sticks smothered with ketchup and tabasco with a baked potato. We should have known what we were in for; we were the only non-employees in the place. Yuck. Really.
