Oh my god… TAKETHEBANANACHIPSOUTOFYOURSPICYASIANMIX! I thought I was buying a mix of wasabi peas and peanuts… Yum. Did not realize there were a few sweet banana chips in the mix!!! Gross! The whole thing tastes slightly banana-y now. That combo makes no sense!

Lots of things to choose from but the«fresh» food isn’t so fresh. Every bit of produce I got tonight was off. Slimy portobellos, rotten mozzarella, moldy strawberries. Really disappointed. Thought this was going to be my new place but no way. I’ll stick to the packaged stuff if I’m desperate. The hunt for great produce near my house is still on!

From the perspective of someone who has been in Astoria for over 5 years and watched things change at a rapid pace… i had thought this location would actually become apartments or some kind of commercial building once the auto shop had shut down. Someone made the decision to compete with two markets less than a mile away which offer 10x the variety and fresher produce at better prices Why is it that business owners in this neighborhood never do any type of analysis before opening a new business? When you see business after business closing down after being open for only a few years or less, it is because you offer nothing different, nothing unique, and nothing new to the area. You have no brand or identity so people do not bring you business. The biggest disappointment for me is actually the fact that i see the term Gourmet, and organic on their signs… and there are boxes of General Mills cereal, and your standard Boards Head meats and deli products, and the produce is often soft and low quality. Where is the gourmet? What do they think gourmet means? I would love for something like this to succeed in the area. i never want to see a business close, unless its’ one of the 50,000 cheap jewelry or shoe stores we do not need that Steinway St is riddled with

Nothing bad about this place but it’s small and from the outside it looks bigger. Prices are a tad higher than expected and choices are lackluster but the fruits look okay and the handful of empty parking spots was a breeze to park. At lease they have juice bar, good thing to put use of the fruits they sell. Label: An Okay Fruit Market… and a tad bit of miscellaneous stuff. Short review for a place with nothing grand.

Great store with a friendly and patient staff. I never felt rushed. Selection is extensive and I found what I needed at a fair price.

They have a good selection of organic and non organic produce — but be careful as prices are very different. The stuff outside is generally much cheaper than the stuff inside and the staff at the registers are not quite on top of the produce yet, so make sure you are charged correctly. They are however always very polite and happy to be given the odd correction. I think some earlier comments about food going bad might be in relation to when they first opened — they did seem to have a lot of produce standing there for a while before the store opened. The non perishable goods are reasonably priced — cans do not differ that much from the larger stores, pasta is a little more pricey. There is a good selection of chilled goods including well priced free range eggs(same brand cheaper than key foods) and non dairy options! There is the deli which I have not tried other than to buy some sliced turkey which is not normally my thing but was tasty, and they also have a good selection of nuts and baking goods/spices! All in all very handy to have at the bottom of the street! Hope they keep it up and develop the store to match customer needs/feedback.

I was really happy when I found out about this new market, organic produce, plus parking in the front. When we drove up we notice an empty parking lot and wondered why. Went in and noticed the Price’s were too high, but we continued our shopping any way. The place is clean and has a good organic produce selection. Couple days later when I tried to use the onion and garlic I bought from this market they were old and had to throw both of them away. I don’t think we will be going back since the prices don’t match the quality.

I was very disappointed when I first walked in. Firstly, the cashiers don’t know a thing about their fruits and vegetables. She had asked me if my lettuce was a cabbage. Secondly, they are very over priced for no reason, especially when I see molded navel oranges in their cases and the over priced blueberries I bought has ice and mold in the very bottom of the container! I almost fed them to my 6 year old daughter! Thirdly, the owner of the establishment looks like a complete slob. He looks like a beggar. He doesn’t smile either. This is my neighborhood for over 20 years and this place seems to be nothing more than a business, instead of a welcoming, neighborhood establishment people would like to look as a second home. The coffee bar had fruit flies in their pastry case and was sticky as can be. Who would buy a cup of coffee? Their deli workers are extremely rude. I asked for some smoked ham, clearly their sign stated a price and the gentleman insisted on charging me more! I attempted to speak with the store manager John, but even he didn’t care in helping me. He was much more interested in getting back on his phone call, which was on his cellular phone device. I usually wouldn’t ever speak bad about an establishment, for I see the good in everything, but people, double, no, rather, triple look before purchasing anything in this useless space. Very, very disappointed!

My friend told me about this place just opening. I was excited to have other healthy options close by. The produce selection was impressive, and was the best part of the store me thinks. However, the employees behind the counter were not very friendly. Not sure I will go back, the vibes were… off.
