the worst service and treatment I’ve ever had as a customer. I usually do my own laundry and that’s what I was doing on a regular Sunday night. when I walked in there, I had no detergent so I decided to buy it in the laundromat at the counter, right away the guy(manager) was unpleasant, the detergent itself was $ 3.50 and I had given him $ 10. when I looked back at the change I saw he only gave me $ 2 back. I mentioned to him that it’s not right and he gave it back to me displeasing not apologizing about his mistake. later on when it came to drying the laundry, I put the clothes in and then the money in to the machine… turns out the machine was out of service and there was a tiny note inside the machine saying«out of service» that nobody can see unless pointed out. my money wasn’t dispensing back so I went to the manager politely and told him that there is a problem and my money isn’t dispensing. he came over and right away said«that’s your mistake I can’t pay for that». I told him if there is anyway of fixing it and he just kept repeating to me it’s my mistake not his. with how rude he came at me, I blew up and said that with his nasty attitude he will never keep customers. he got in my personal space and decided to yell back at me pointing his finger in my direction treating me like complete crap. mind you I’m a girl half of his size and you would think a man would have some respect. the money wasn’t the issue. I’ll pay another dollar again, all I wanted to see is if he can fix it but due to the fact that he kept blaming it at me and coming at me nasty, an argument broke out. I would not recommend this place to anyone. go somewhere where you are respected!

Open 24 hours. Price is affordable. $ 1.75 for small wash, $ 2.50 for medium wash, $ 3.00 for large wash. Standard price for the dryer $ 0.25 per 8 minutes. Has a public bathroom that is clean. Also offers dry cleaning and wash/fold services. No complaints about this laundromat. Useful for last minute, late night washing.

It’s open 24 hours. That’s why you’re there. And let it be known that this is the only reason that you’re there. I’ve had a long and storied career as a patron of Astoria laundromats. I’ve been in the laundromat scene here since 2011… probably around June or so. With all my experience I can tell you that this place is the worst I’ve been to. The machines are 1985 Speed Queen commercial washers. The button panels are all busted, on almost every machine. The owners put saran wrap or something over the buttons, so you have to stress your thumb joint getting the thing to start. I think it’s a sign to get new machines when you’re writing«delicate wash» on a post-it and taping it over what used to be a button. The thing takes your quarters when it wants to, but most of them require 5 minutes of quarter after quarter. I end up trying to exert extra force into the slot, as if there’s a space inside the slot that only true warrior quarters get over. Like the pit in the Dark Knight Rises. Ambience is flat out reckless. The management’s joyless attempt at a nice décor manifests itself in oddly spaced plants above the washers; some artificial, some real. The whole thing reminds me of a government funded social services lobby in the South Bronx. Then there’s a literally 2 foot hill of magazines resting on a table; has to be at least 150. So if you’re interested in a Home and Garden Magazine from 2007, then come here at 3:15 am to clean your ass-stained boxers that you hope the sexy ovulating young woman won’t see you stuff into the washer. And finally, what is with the hundreds of pictures of the manager with random customers? I looked to see if they were famous people at first, like the manager with his arm around Tony Danza’s shoulder and holding a jug of Tide in his other hand. But no. You and I are up there.

I only came here because my usual dry cleaner was closed. I’ve walked by here a bunch of times. But it’s farther from my apt than other area cleaners. But I remembered they’re 24⁄7. So I gave it a shot. The dude who took my dry cleaning order never even made eye contact, let alone make any attempt at being personable. But I kinda didn’t worry about that, since I noticed their prices are significantly less than my cleaners, and they got my stuff back a day earlier. I go back to pick my stuff up. I hand her my card. Turns out they’re cash only. So I have to wait until I’m back in the city near my bank the next day to get the money to pick up my dry cleaning. Annoying since it would’ve been nice to have been told upfront that they’re cash only. I was obviously a new customer, since I had to be entered in to the system. Just saying. A few days later I slip on one of the pairs of pants I had them dry clean. Static cling from my ankles to my thighs. So much static cling that a lot of static cling release spray only partially relieved the issue. So…I don’t know. Maybe I’ll have to go some day to do my laundry and have a better experience. For now, I’ll wait to drop off my dry cleaning until my usual cleaner is open.

Bring lots of lbs’ of separated dirty laundry. Drop it off –anyone of of the 24 hours in a day will do. Pick up in 4 hours for a ridiculous low cash only price, folded, pressed and smelling of freshly outsourced awful tasks that I don’t do anymore. Boom.

I decided to check this place out for two reasons, one my regular place was closed and two its close and open 24⁄7. I was pretty impressed with their drop-off service, it was under 10 bucks for a full bag I think around 12lbs and it was done the next day. I was in and so so fast I really didn’t check out the place, but when your doing drop-off, who really cares as long as its folded and smells clean that’s good enough for me. I think it’s cash only but I didn’t ask.

I’ve been going here for 10 years and have never had a problem. The staff deliver consistent, timely results. Wash & fold and wash & press(shirts) are done very well.

For some reason, when first settling into my apartment, I started going to some laundromat which was about 5 – 6 blocks away and was no where near the quality of Newtown. Newtown is about a 2 minute walk for me and the service can’t be beat. They get you in and out really quick and their turnaround for laundry is less than 24 hours, with some dry cleaning usually 2 days. I’ve never done my own laundry there, I just stick to the drop off service, but the prices seem to be good. The inside is kept really clean as well. The reason I maybe like this place best is that it’s 24 hours. I can drop off my shit before heading to school and then pick it up in the late hours of the night. I tried a few laundromats in the area and this place is head and shoulders above the rest.

This is the only laundromat I have used since moving to NYC but I have never once had any problem of note… maybe twice I have put my stuff in a dryer only to have it not work. This place is clean enough, cheap enough, they will give you change for a 20, I feel more than comfortable leaving my stuff here(for uh… hours sometimes while I meet friends for lunch in the hood) and open 24 hours. No complaints.

I’m dedicated to this place. They do everything they say they will, the place is clean, the cash register always has change in one dollar bills, there are old magazines to relive JLo’s twins, and chairs outside. But let me tell you, I’m giving four stars out of loyalty. I’ve seen a few machines needing attention, and I’m told the place that is equidistant from my front door is a quarter cheaper per wash. However — Newtown Laundromat goes beyond the call of duty! Coffee is waiting for you in the morning. Nothing like a little drug addiction to ease the drudgery of laundry.
