Good pizza here, just visiting NYC and decided to walk in one night, after a long day with the kids. The service was friendly and good. We had pizza, calzone, Stromboli. All very good. Would definitely recommend it

The guys that work here are misbehaving badly when ownership isn’t present. After you order and while you’re paying for a slice of pizza one guy behind the counter says loudly«any change»? This is to insulate being tipped. I have no problem with tipping which I do frequently, but for heating up a slice in a pizzeria??? Which were served on the cold side. Probably because I didn’t tip. I also won’t be coming back here ever again! Word of advice to the over the hill counter guys, if you want to earn tips put out a Tip Jar and or do an occupation that you actually earn tips. Heating up a slice of pizza isn’t one of those occupations. Politeness wouldn’t hurt either. I will stick with the better business service and great pizza at Rosarios and Rose & Joes Bakery. Really great pizza coming from Italians not unpleasant Mexican counter help.

Came here and had a regular slice, 3 garlic knots, and a Coke. Just like any other place the pizzas are pre made and put back in the oven when it’s ordered. When I was eating my slice, something tasted kind of off. Maybe the cheese? Something. But I continued to eat because really, who could mess up a pizza? The garlic knots were amazing. They had little chunks of garlic and were great. I almost forgot about my slice and the odd taste. About an hour after finishing my meal, I had an odd fullness that then turned into nausea. I figured I over extended myself and probably ate too much and left it at that. 1am hits and I am awakened by the worst pains ever and you guessed it, food poisoning. Thanks pizza palace. Never again.

A Slice is $ 3.50? Since when? The slice is big but I rather it be tasty! I’ve been here twice and both times I’ve ordered a slice and a spinach pie. The pizza is horrible, but the extra star was for the spinach pie. The spinach pie is really good, but I don’t know if it’s worth $ 4 for something so damn small. Over priced! And not all that!

I use to come here when I was like 2 until like 10 years old. For those astorians who have been here there entire life like me would remember the arcade and eating area where trattoria licontro is now placed. It was good back then and cheap… cool place to hang all the time then… I thought I’d give it a try recently and I was so disappointed! !! we got gyros and fries… don’t get me wrong, it was delicious but for 34 bucks, 2 skimpy gyros and 2 realllllllyyy small orders of fries(Order Had Like Maybe 8 Steak Fries in Each) was not at all worth it. I can go to zorbas and get a nice packed gyro deluxe for 9.75 so yea I won’t go to Pizza Palace ever Again and I will not Recommend you do. I feel Like This Place Is for People Who Don’t Really Know Astoria The Way The Original astoria Resident’s do. Like where to get gyros from and where to get pizza from, it’s definitely never from the same place lol

I come here all the time now, since I’ve started working in the area. It’s pretty cool and while far from the greatest slices I’ve had, the people working here are very nice, the place is generally very clean, and really spacious, especially as far as most pizza places go. There’s a lot of natural light, due to the whole side of it being open window seating. There’s even a little kiddie corner with some arcade games and a little carousel to ride on. I come here often for the garlic knots because they really are the stuff!

Pretty much exactly what I expected from a pizza place one block from a subway station on a main thoroughfare that also features Gyros and Souvlaki. Brought back not-so-fond memories of the pizza and fried-chicken joints I grew up around in The Bronx. Perhaps the Greek food options are better here, but the pizza was greasy, mediocre and overpriced. I also feel compelled to note that I feel incredibly let down by the magnificent Edie Falco, whose picture adorns the wall here with(presumably) one of the owners. If Edie endorsed the place, I thought, well… it had to be good, right? I’m a little hurt, Edie… a little hurt.

I’ve been coming here since you could enter where«La Trattoria Incontro» is and they had the coin operated carousel, loads of extra seating/party area, and that glass room in the back with the arcade games. So before someone gets it twisted let me say something. I am not some run-of-the mill young doe eyed W.A.S.P kid from a hick village who just got into town about an hour ago, «fell in love with the area», and thinks Astoria is the best place ever. This ain’t no Mecca, this place is f*&ed! I’m an angry assed Astorian in his 30’s(not Greek) who’s had it up to here with the diet Williamsburg/mini Manhattan joke this town has become but before I leave this place for greener(and less expensive) pastures I’m leaving a trail of reviews so you, dear reader, don’t get misled into bad food/goods/services like this place. The good: They always had the latest«Cruisin’ USA» and«The Simpsons» arcade games up until around 1998. The bad: The pizza is a Manhattan price but sub Pizza Hut quality slice literally dripping with grease, overly salty cheese, and sauce from a can. When I was a kid attending Immaculate Conception they used to sell pizza in bulk to the school who would once a month have«pizza lunch day» where they would take the putrid Pizza Palace slices and sell them to us at a markup. The grease was so out of hand we used to have to hold the slices upside down, let it drip onto our paper plates, then blot it with paper towels just to make it edible. When blotting with the paper towels the cheese would fall apart because it was garbage quality. By the time we got done eating it looked like we were eating off circular pieces of clear cellophane. I don’t know how y’all see it but I’d rather eat stale Dunkaroos and mom’s Wonder Bread PB minus the J. I’d rather do math homework than eat that crap! You think $ 3.50 for a regular slice is bad? Go look at the prices on everything else. The specialty stuff beyond regular slices sits there for hours on end and usually has the consistency of Payless shoe leather by the time it reaches your mouth. My mate and I went in there one time to buy a calzone and the worker, with no shame in his game, put it into a microwave. That’s right! They got pizza ovens left and right and this idiot nukes the calzone. How stupid can you be? You NEVER nuke a proper calzone because it gets mushy! I don’t know if it was sheer laziness or ridiculous store policy to save on cooking gas but that was his last time eating there. They sucked in the 80s when I was in diapers. They sucked in the 90s when I was in Immaculate Conception School(hi Sister Jeanne!). They sucked in the 2000s when I was in Saint John’s Prep. They suck to this day. They just get away with charging more because over privileged white people from out of town have no clue what actual good pizza is. Go eat at Dino’s on Broadway then come talk to me.(LoRusso’s on 14th street was one of the best slices I ever had in Queens and I miss them terribly.) I’m sick and tired of overpriced artisinal hipster bull$%^ food overrunning Astoria. Pizza was invented to give us young people a cheap, hot, filling, fresh meal easy to eat on-the-go. It’s bread, cheese and sauce not a f*&^ng art form! Before anyone who works there or likes them defends the prices with«fluctuating markets» and«changing times» or «rent spikes» I’ll just say two of the best words(well technically one numeral and one word) in the pizza world: «2 Bros». Game, set, match! For a little levity, if they were charging $ 3.50 a slice in 1989 they would have in essence been charging $ 7. Would YOU have paid $ 7 for a slice back in ’89? The ugly: The poop brown tile interior. In conclusion: That a laughable relic like this place is charging $ 3.50 for slices so greasy you can see through them and hipsters are raving about it is exactly what’s wrong with this city and exactly why us born and raised here need to get the hell out before it’s too late. I miss the old Astoria as much as the rest of you natives reading this but let me tell you something and may Zeus strike me down for saying it. This is one slice of the real Astoria I would love to see get replaced with a useless organic, locally sourced, ethically grown, artisinal doggy daycare.

I love this place. I love their pizza. I love their calzones. I love their Greek chicken salad which is the dopest fast food salad you’ll get in the world. I love that the guys there have been working behind the counter since as far back as I remember. I love that they know my name and they know my family and that they aren’t a bunch of miserable trafficked laborers you see so often with service jobs. I think I literally pursued an elite education and advanced degree so that I could one day have enough money to buy them out so that they can remain in business forever.

They microwave their food. I have a microwave at home. No thanks! The owner Jack is a jerk too. The staff are not friendly at all. And on top of that, it is over priced! Stay away.

This was my neighborhood pizza place many years ago. It looks like it went through some renovation but it’s still a pizza place here! Pizza was decent but the crust wasn’t crispy for some reason. The slices were a lot bigger than I remember though. Also picked up a beef patty but wished they stuffed it with more beef!

WHYWOULDYOUGOTOPIZZAPALACEFOR A GYRO and then give the place 2 stars. Why oh why??? Their PIZZA is dope. Beyond dope. Crust is fresh & solid but soft, cheese is quality & applied liberally, ingredients are fresh. Nab a slice to go or relax in their very chill dining area.

Ordered a rice ball. Portion is large. Note — they preheat everything in the microwave. Not very fresh. Come with meat sauce that they reheat in styrofoam cup. Think I’ll pass on it next time

You can tell if a pizza is good by the cheese, and Pizza Palace uses high quality cheese. The crust is always cooked to perfection as well. I also enjoy their pasta with broccoli, garlic and oil. You won’t be disappointed.

I love gyros, and since I moved to Astoria, I’ve been looking for a place that measures up to my beloved Charcoal Delights in Chicago, the best damn gyro place in America. I ordered a gyro sandwich, fries, and soda, and the gyro was pretty good, with a nice fresh pita, a generous amount of tzatziki, and lots of warm and fresh gyro meat. Fries were of the frozen steak-fry type and underwhelming. I’m also taking off one star for the price. My meal cost me $ 15.45, including almost $ 9 for the sandwich and $ 4.50 for the fries. I know Ditmars Blvd and 31st St is a high-rent intersection(the other corners are a CVS, a Starbucks, and a TD Bank) but that’s just absurd.

Went here in recommendation of friend who is from Astoria. I’ve tried several NY pizza joints in the past, all of em in Manhattan at small hole in the wall $ 1 slice places. This beats them all hands down. The slices are HUGE! Slices are thicker than the food and eats I’ve had before but the thicker pizza provided bigger flavor. Sprinkled some parm cheese and oregano on to my regular and pepperoni slices. Tasted amazing. Crust was good. Not hard. I forgot to order the garlic knots, but I’ll do that next time. Two slices had me bustin at the seems anyway. I don’t know if it was the owner or manager who served me but he was very polite. Service was great. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t too busy. So had good choice of seating. I’ll be back for sure!

I’m going to make this really simple. I’ve had pizza all over the world and this meets my criteria for high quality, creative, and extremely satisfying pizza. Crispy crust, delicate flavors, great bite, and enticing aromas. This place deserves 6 stars.

Average food and higher prices than I would expect for a heat-and-serve kind of place. I ordered the souvlaki sandwich and an order of fries. The order came to around $ 14 which is really overpriced for what they gave me. It’s quick and easy, so if you want a quick meal it will suffice, but there are better options in Ditmars.

First, I want to say this place has THEBESTGARLICKNOTSONTHEPLANET!!! Maybe I’ve been lucky with who’s behind the counter, maybe I have a nice smile, or maybe I’m not a douchebag; but I’ve always had good service here. It works both ways, a smile and a nice personality goes a long way whether you’re taking an order or expecting someone to take yours. This is my train stop and I occasionally pass by on my way home for a quick bite. The pizza has always been good, as well as the sandwiches and pastas that I’ve had, plus THEBESTGARLICKNOTSONTHEPLANET!!! It’s not a fancy place by all means, but it’s not a hole-in-the-wall small pizza joint either. It’s good enough. I know, I know, Palace in its name may be deceiving and confusing to some. I Love this place, you guys are doing a great job!
