The only good thing about this place is the food and the back patio area. THESERVICE is HORRIBLE! Every single girl walks by with no enthusiasm whatsoever. Every one seems like they hate their job. NOT once did my server pass by my table to ask me and my gf how our drinks or dinner was. NOTONCE. Drinks took over 15 minutes and no one approached us to explain why it took so long or apologized. They just stand there looking into the distance just picking up dirty dishes. If anyone wants delicious Thai food ANDGREAT service go to kitchen 79! The absolutely best Thai and service you’ll encounter. PS: our server was named Mink. And another server brought our drinks after we asked where were the drinks, we ordered over 15 mins ago and not once did Mink pass by the table to see how we were doing. Smh. We all have bad days but all servers acted like they were having a bad day.

Came here a few nights ago for dinner. The place has a nice ambiance with the dim lighting and various colored light swag. I was like damnnn they got like the date spot ambiance going. The menu seemed pretty simple, with not too many items, and the prices seemed very reasonable, with nothing costing more than like $ 11ish. Just the way I like it. I ordered the Pye Boat Noodle with Beef and Beef meatballs($ 10). The dish was very flavorful; it was like a bowl of phở with a darker and sweeter beef broth. Overall the noodles were pleasantly sweet and the green stuff and crunchy thing they put in the noodles added a pleasant texture. It was definitely good. Unfortunately, as is the case with a lot of the restaurants, the portion size is small. I thus can’t give this place more than 3 stars, though I really want to give 4 considering they do so many other things right. Service was good too; quick, efficient, friendly enough, and we got our food quickly.

Their menu has other traditional Thai dishes besides the typical pad thai which is good but their menu is fairly small. I got the boat noodles with beef and it was really good. It was savory and had you wanting more. The best part of this place would be the outdoor patio décor with the little pond which is perfect on a nice breezy summer night. I also like the cute little metal cups they use to serve drinks in.

It’s different, but its«GOOD» different! We had to walk maybe 4 – 5 block from closest Subway, but it was definitely worth it. The decors also great, I didn’t feel like I was in NY. Service was great and fast. Food was definitely worth a try. I will come back when I’m in NY!

Stumbled on this gem while browsing Instagram and had to try because we’ve been reminiscing our time in Thailand. Other reviewers raved about the boat noodles and although pig blood sounded off putting, I decided to try it anyway. For two, we ordered the following: * Pork, shrimp & jicama dumplings — 5 to an order, resembled a shumai but minus the pork fat and msg, pretty yummy with a good dipping sauce) * Beef with Boat Noodles — strong star anise flavor, and came with plenty of beef, two beef balls, pork rinds, bean sprouts. Surprisingly I couldn’t taste the pig blood at all and it didn’t bother me. I did add some fish sauce for some more salt, as well as Thai chili flakes for a kick. * Ba Mee Moo Dang Hang — crab & pork egg noodles, served with vinegar & fish sauce, good but got too vinegary after eating it * Drinks — highly recommend the frozen lychee drink! Thai iced tea was also good, but came already mixed when most restaurants serve it with the milk just topping the glass and the patron can stir it in themselves. Service was extremely fast and very attentive. It was a hot day and they didn’t have AC so it was a bit uncomfortably having soup noodles without air conditioning. I’ll definitely come back for their other dishes! Street parking only. Surrounding streets are metered, and wasn’t hard to find a spot despite the street fair commencing on Broadway.

Very good thai food in Astoria. I love their dishes with rice. My only complaint is that they don’t give you a generous amount of meat with the dishes. I tried the krapow chicken and the panang chicken with rice. Both were tasty. The panang dish was a bit tastier with more sauce and the addition of coconut milk to thicken things up. All in all, I can recommend both the krapow and panang chicken dishes but make sure to tell them how much spice you like in your dish, because it can get spicy!

This establishment was visited by yours truly on a strange and unseasonably chilly eve in the middle of May; my dinner companion for that evening was in Queens(a former Astoria resident who’s since relocated to regions more northerly) on an impromptu whim that day, nevertheless I was happy to answer the call whence it was received. It truly was flattering, having her reach out to me(as opposed to the plethora of friends that she likely had in the city) and suggest that time be spent catching up on how much more world-weary we’d been rendered since our last rendezvous. Indefinitely off the market, as it were, and had I(as a younger man, say of three years ago) been more forthcoming/blunt an instrument as I have been made as pertaining to the here and now, perhaps things could have been different… nevertheless, the catch up was pleasant(although the typical incendiary opinions/banter made«pleasant» appearances throughout the course of the night). A few hours of drinking made us hungry, and we kept moving south as to avoid more Latin American fare(she had the stuff for the«past three days» prior to our meeting on this fateful evening). Wanting to whet my pallet while accommodating hers, this well reviewed establishment, caught both of our eyes(for me, a 4.5 starred joint in my hood that I had yet to visit… and for her, a place that served food that wasn’t «Latin American.») It was around 9:00, and the place was well attended. Fortunately, there was a cozy little table for two that was vacant, and our cute-as-a-button hostess directed and seated us there. I was impressed by the charming little space; they definitely embrace an idyllic tropical motif as far as the décor was concerned, and the super casual looking yet uniformed staff(of cutie pie waitresses) was just icing on the proverbial cake. The menu was loaded with plenty of tasty looking items, and they all came at extremely reasonable price points. Some chicken prik khing for her, some pork kha prow for me(love those names… super spicy… and not pad thai). We also split some appetizers in the form of fried pork strips(neat) and a fresh papaya salad. All the bites from the evening were tasty, but I would have to give best bite of the night to the papaya salad. Super complex flavor profile(don’t I sound like a douche bag?!) with the sweet, sour, spicy, salty… the crunch just took it over the top. I may not like salads all that much, but if they tasted like that all the time, I’d be eating them on the reg. By night’s end, we were both satisfied, and had discussed(at length) the aesthetic appeal of the wait staff. As my dinner partner was off the market(as already mentioned), but still cared about my best interests as far as *ahem* fitness was concerned… she(allegedly) surreptitiously inquired as to the phone number of the crown jewel of the night’s staff; she graciously declined, though I was grateful for the effort of my friend(although it was an effort that I had not requested of her). Phone number rejections of potential high school aged servers aside, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I definitely look forward to the next visit(and maybe with better luck on certain fronts).

When I heard that this place had boat noodles, I just knew I had to try it! It was a cute little Thai themed place. Appetizer– crispy pork strips It came with an orange sauce that was spicy and had a bit of sweetness to it. The pork strips were okay, but overall pretty good with the sauce. Now for the boat noodles! They had two options-pork or beef and choices of noodles which included rice noodles, vermicelli, flat ribbon noodles, and egg noodles. I ordered the pork boat noodle with vermicelli noodles and my bf order the beef with flat ribbon noodles. The wait for the noodles took about 10 mins… kinda long for a starving girl… When it finally came, the waitress bought out fish sauce, chili peppers, this green spicy/sweet sauce, and jalapeños. I added some of the chili peppers which added a kick to my both. You have to fully mix the bowel because there are veggies at the bottom. The both was really flavorful and had a lot of meat. The vermicelli noodles are very thin. Overall, the boat noodle was really delicious. I would say it was almost as good as the ones I had in Bangkok. Definitely gonna go back and try it with rice noodles!

Friends don’t let friends eat boring Thai food. I think I’ve raved enough about this place with my previous review, which I am still trying to get over that high. Being the adrenaline foodie that I occasionally self-proclaim, I figured why not take a pick this time pointe blank. Food 4⁄5 Eyes closed, we ordered the Pad kee mao with shrimp. Which is like a stir-fried ho fun(oops or should I say pad see ew) with thai basils and thai chillis. A very very very generous amounts of thai chilli, even for me, and I’m the girl who usually downs Southeast Asian heat pretty well. Beef boat rice noodles. Nothing really worthy of compliments here, aside from the fact that it’ll almost remind you exactly of phở. Service 4⁄5 The lovely ladies here were fast, efficient, and helpful during the entire course from introducing us to the condiments that they brought over to the table, to helping us decide on the best noodle to compliment the dish. –1 star because they actually messed up my order, the pad kee mao I ordered was suppose to be with squid, but I cut them some slacks considering how busy it was last night, and I rarely like being primadonna unless you fetch me my crown. Overall I actually enjoyed my last visit here better. Between the outdoor patio seating(wasn’t available this visit because of the rain), and the better entrée selections, last visit still left a lasting impression on me. Guess the rule of thumb here is to pick the dishes that please your appetite, and as these two dishes prove to be good, they did not scream out at me like the dishes I ordered during my first visit. The BFF was really impressed by the food though as it was her first time here. PS. It was a bit more than just intimate last night, tables were only almost right next to one another. I enjoyed the struggles of the guys trying hard to take the Thai heat to impress their date, when its obvious that their GI would ulcerate at the end of their dish.

Food was meh and lunch special was not the usual u get at other Thai restaurants. Their lunch special is a dollar less than their usual price with nothing extra so dnt see how it is a lunch special. Lunch special means at least two or three courses for a reduced price between a specific time slot. Food was meh as nothing special and not flavorful on its own without any sauce. The beef meatballs were a scary mysterious chewy meat in my mouth that I was compelled to send it back. Thai iced tea was very watered down so wouldnt recommend it. Waitress was kind enough to deduct it from bill but the down side of their attentiveness is that they are way too eager. For example, so many of them came to our table asking how things were that we felt constantly interrupted. Also they are so eager to show they are working that they poured water into an almost full glass of water and spilled it on my other half. Also twice two diff waitresses wanted to clear a dish that had some leftover sauce from the skewers that I wanted to pour on my noodles. Really could not enjoy my meal as it was constant interruption. So I guess my advice is to not lift your head when they come around lol. They were really annoying!

SOSOSO goooooooood. The dishes here are so cheap and has so much flavor. My go to are definitely the boat noodles. I have never had noodles like that before but it gives you the feeling of being in Asia without leaving Astoria. The staff is super friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk into the door. My absolute go to spot if I am craving a warm bowl of noodle soup. I have yet to try the other dishes on the menu but I have no doubt that it won’t be mind blowing.

Ordered two kinds of noodle soup. Both very delicious. Beef noodle soup and spicy boat noodle, citrus taste, a little like tom yum. Not spicy at all which is perfect. Very flavorful. Servers are very friendly and attentive. Will be returning :) Editing: I’ve returned multiple times and they have failed to disappoint me. Love the people and cute setting.

Pye Boat Noodle is the rare thai place that doesn’t try to be a million things to a million people. Their menu is small, their prices reasonable and their décor is unpretentious. What they do, they do well. Every dish on their menu is high quality and flavorful. All their noodles are the perfect amount of chewy for a thai dish and their spicy dishes are just right. This place isnt the largest in the world, and from what i saw it gets packed pretty quickly so try and come for an early dinner or a lunch some time and check out something unique for a thai place in nyc.

This place serves really good and authentic Thai food that has items you’ve never eaten at Thai restaurants. — The servers are straight up Thai. — The Thai Iced tea with lime is new and so so good — The boat noodle I got with egg noodles, fish balls, squid, shrimp and pork rinds was good but not all that. Very different. — The crab meat fried rice has some good flavor. Especially if you dress it up with the sauces provided on the table — The pad see whatever was delicious. — The chicken basil was really good too. Nice and spicy. Excited to try the rest of the menu

Went with family to this restaurant. Consider it a sanitized version of Thai street food. The dark but cozy ambience and décor are made to look like street stalls in Thailand with wooden bar tops, distressed wood panels and aluminum corrugated siding on the ceiling. The menu is actually pretty limited compared to some Thai restaurants that I’ve been to. We ordered the fried pork strips to start, which were nicely crispy and well seasoned. We ordered pad thai to share between 4 of us, and each of us ordered our own entrée. We ordered 2 Penang curries, one with beef and one with chicken, and each of these curry dishes come with rice topped with a fried egg. My hubby ordered the green curry pork special, which came with rice noodles and a hard boiled egg. Our friend ordered the Boat noodle soup which has a dark beefy soup base with some coagulated blood. I know how it sounds but it was surprisingly better than I expected. The pad Thai was fairly sweet, but it is advertised as containing palm sugar. The medium spiced Penang curries really were not that spicy and left a sweet aftertaste on the palate. As for my hubby’s green curry, I felt that I’ve tasted better and more flavourful green curry in Toronto. In my opinion it felt like the spice was downplayed and that the curries could have been creamier(particularly the Penang curries). They do give you a selection of condiments to add for enhancing flavours as well as ground peanuts for the pad thai. The food is very affordable. Our 5 entrees plus a thai iced tea and local beer cost $ 74. Certainly worth a try if you’re in the Astoria area and looking for authentic tasting & reasonably priced food.

So many Unilocal friends have paved the way here, that I had to come check out the Boat! Walking in the door feels like you’ve been transported to a back alley or waterway of Bangkok to sit down for some street(canal?) food. You can almost feel like you’re rocking on a long boat about to be served a steaming bowl of noodles. I get the whole painted and distressed wood look, but can wooden stools be a little more comfortable? Maybe a place to hang my coat? The menu is really simple, starting off with«snacks»(appetizers) followed by soup and dry noodles and a rice dish section, with 4 – 6 selections of each. As it was our first time, we ordered from each to get a taste, even though a other few items caught our eyes. Starting with the Taro Rolls and Yum Woon Sen(Glass Noodles) really opened up our palates. The red chili pepper in the glass noodles really burned my lips for a while as we waited for our other noodle dishes. Make sure to have a Thai Iced Tea next to you. Then came the Kua Noodles(dry broad rice noodles with chicken & squid), Baa Mee Phoo Moo Dang(egg noodles in broth with crabmeat and roast pork) and my favorite, Pad Pukk(with chicken, veggies over rice). The Pad Pukk was great because it came with not just one but TWO runny fried eggs that just oozed their yolks all over the rice. The taste was phenomenal. If you’re into heat, you’re given a carousel of chili peppers, powders and sauces to scorch your palate, but just be careful with those flammables. The portions are right for the price point, but we were just really hungry and decided to order an additional Boat Noodle with Beef with the really dark hearty broth, but maybe another rice dish would have soothed the hungry beast. Can’t wait to go back!

To be fair, 3.5 stars. I tried Pye Boat back when it first opened and found it be quite delicious! Everything we ordered from pad Thai to their beef boat noodles were super tasty and you can’t beat their cute décor! So why only 3.5 stars? Every single time we come and the more popular the place gets, the amount of food dwindles. Also, the shaved ice was just down right terrible. Cheap ingredients, pink food coloring, overly sweet mess… we didn’t finish this dish! Better thai food can be found at Ayada!

Overall, I thought Pye Boat Noodle was a pretty authentic thai cuisine restaurant. My favorite dish of the night was surprisingly the Pye Noodle Soup with Beef. I’m generally not squeamish about blood… well…not until I hear it’s boiled within the bowl of my soup(note — they don’t mention this on the menu), but it was seriously a really good bowl of soup. It had plenty of flavors and the thai condiments were fantastic additions.(5⁄5) On the other hand, I found the Tom Yum Noodle Soup with fishball to be extremely salty. Also, the quail eggs wrapped in wonton skin was ok… I’d skip this and try something else.(3⁄5)

Perfect for the cold weather! We had their signature dish, the boat noodles. Think of it as a Thai version of phở — there’s a soup element, noodles, a meat and some veggies. What’s awesome is that you get to customize your bowl.(Boat?) You have a choice of beef or pork, and then you can decide what kind of noodles you want in it. When they serve it, they also bring out some sauces and such so that you can adjust the flavor. You can make it sweeter, saltier, spicier, or all of the above. OH and it comes with chicharron on top! We also got the dumplings, which were tiny but good. They’re not your typical dumplings. While they do still have the normal thin wrapper, the meat inside is less cohesive and gives more of a ground meat texture. The venue was neat, clean and hip. It had a romantic feel as well, with the dim lights and intimate setting. It’s one of the more narrow restaurants, but they make do with what they have. The staff was welcoming, and I’m pretty sure everyone had a role in serving us our meal.(Though it was pretty empty when we came in around 5 on a Tuesday). Regardless, everyone was friendly and able to explain the menu to us.

So. Pye Boat. you had much hype to fulfill. Having been born in Thailand, a place in NYC that claimed to be «just like Thailand» had me more than skeptical. The photos and reviews looked good but I just had to see for myself. Overall rating: 3.5(rounded down to three). Some people say that I’m harsher on Thai establishments because I am Thai. Maybe there is some truth to that. At the end of the meal, though, I enjoyed it. Could they have done better? Oh, yeah. Décor: 5 — very very creative! and very beautiful! Singha on draft: 5 — nice touch! Appetizers: 4 — Not bad! Spring roll skin was appropriately tight and crisp, sauces were ok(although most came out of a bottle), and actually cooking methods were questionable(ie: were the dumplings steamed of ‘waved?). Main courses: 3.5 — the noodles soups are great. The kee mao was ok. the other noodles are not what up to par. The desserts: 2.0 — wow, this is where reality really struck: you are going to offer seemingly Thai desserts like nam kang sai(the ice dessert) but only put in the cheapest half of ingredients(corn, jackfruit and some other canned«exotic fruits)? What about the rest of them: jello, water chestnut. since they also can come from a can? This made me question the value of what we ordered — holy, price manipulation, Batman! This is what disappointed me the most; a place with such a beautiful concept was over charging while skimming on the ingredients.(Yes, it doesn’t seem like they are overcharging but think about what you’re actually getting for the price — quite a clever scheme actually. Those dumpling, for example… they’re the right size but are triple the price. And where’s the fried garlic that’s supposed to grace them? What’s worse: they are in the heart of Queens. on Broadway, a couple of miles from the actual authentic Thai restaurants. So much for authenticity. Pye, you can do better.
