Had my first time keratin treatment done here today. Im so glad to have chosen touch of brazil for the treatment. The ladies were beyond friendly, professional and courteous. Service was first class.
I decided to also get a layered cut, and ilma worked her magic with a dry cut. Everything came out fabulously. She is not pushy or try to upsell you like a lot of salons tend to do.
The salon was very clean & neat, and very nice décor. The chair was super comfortable and spacious (small detail except where u r sitting on it for 2hrs). It is evident that excellence in details of service and presentation are important to ilma and her staff.
I felt very welcomed here, and my hair came out beyond beautiful, healthy & shiny. I definitely plan to return in a few months for a second treatment.
I highly recommend this salon for your professional hair care needs.

Best of the best. You must go and see Ilma. She’s honest and such a caring talented stylist. She uses high end products that are honestly some of the best products out there but yet keeps her prices comparable to her neighborhood. I have extremely stubborn gray hair. She worked so hard to find what line of products would work best on me and let me tell you she found them! I’ve never had better gray coverage than I do now. Perfectly done color and highlights. Never ever gets a hair cut wrong. Always what I’m looking for. I’ll follow her anywhere.

My sister has been going to Ilma for years to get the Keratin treatment on her hair and her hair always looks great. I was hesitant about getting keratin done since I’ve had bad experiences before with other people doing the keratin on my hair and promising that my hair was going to be so much better and I would end up disappointed. My hair has become very frizzy harder to manage so I finally decided that it was time for a Keratin treatment. I made an appointment with Ilma on Friday. This salon is small but very cute and clean. This was my first time meeting Ilma and she was very nice and personable. She applied the keratin and then flat ironed my hair. I was surprised at how shiny and soft my hair felt! My hair looked amazing and did not feel like there was any product in it. I left the salon loving my new hair! I’m extremely picky about my hair and it takes a lot for me truly satisfied. I decided to wait until after I washed my hair to write my review since I wanted to see what the final result of the keratin treatment would be on my hair. I washed my hair this morning and it was so much easier to manage! I blew it out myself and it took me half the time. The main reason I got the keratin was to make my wild hair easier to manage on my own and this treatment totally did that! I’m extremely happy with results! Ilma is amazing and I’m happy I found my new go to person for keratin.

I felt completely at home at Touch of Brazil. I have been getting the Brazilian keratin treatment to my mixed textured FRIZZY hair for the past few years. I’ve paid upwards of $ 400 for the very same treatment at salons in manhattan and Philly and those experiences do not compare to how well my hair turned out at Touch of Brazil. It’s been 3 months since I had the treatment and my hair is still frizz free!

I love this Salon! I have been going for 3 years and Ilma is amazing! My co-​worker introduced me to Touch of Brazil and its been a match made in heaven! I have long black hair and Ilma is the only one to give me the perfect V in the back with angles. Most people get scissor happy when they see long hair. I have sent many of my friends to Ilma and they have been very happy with their hair cuts. The salon is very clean and cozy. I would call an make sure Ilma is available. Since she is the owner and very talented she is high in demand. Her regulars like myself are very loyal and make the pilgrimage to see her every few months.

I’ve been looking to change up my hair stylist for some time now and after some research I found Michelle DeMartino. After reading pervious feedback, I booked an appointment and crossed my fingers. WOW was I beyond satisfied with my experience. Making an appointment was easy and friendly. When I arrived I was introduced to Michelle who did my color and cut. She was warm, funny and a wealth of knowledge.
I was feeling uninspired with my long hair and lifeless ombré. Michelle put me at ease from the moment i sat down with suggestions and solutions. She talked to me about the color process, then took the time to explain the cut options and possible outcomes.
Michelle takes pride in her work and is a true artist in her field. She is knowledgable in all facets of the beauty industry and made my trip to the salon an experience.
Needless to say, I left the salon with a great cut and color. Now two months later my color still looks fresh and my cut is drying exactly how she said it would — and it’s great! I look forward to visiting Michelle again because I truly enjoyed my experience and results with her. She comes highly recommended!!!

Im fairly new to New York and looking for «My Go-​To Salon». I was recommended to Touch of Brazil by a friend for their Keratin treatment. I wanted highlights before getting the keratin treatment, so I scheduled an appointment on Saturday and was appointed with Elaine.
The salon is small, but it was very cozy and clean. I was their first appointment on that Saturday morning, so it was just me and Elaine. I explained to her I wanted light brown highlights and even showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair to look. I asked before we even started of this can be done, and she said of course. I even made it clear I did not want blonde.
(I have dark brown to black hair, so I’m skeptical on any new stylist working with
my hair, especially coloring it.)
Elaine was extremely nice throughout the whole process and very attentive, especially since it was just us two. As she was finishing washing the toner out, her next client came in. I sat back in the stylist chair and she explained if I wanted her to blow dry she has to charge extra, which is not a problem. My only concern was the highlights looked blonde! I had her blow dry some sections to be sure. Yup I was right I had blonde highlights.
I was completely unhappy and had her make the highlights darker. But she was more rushed because she had 2 clients waiting for her now. A little over two hours later the top of my head is still much lighter than the ends. I think the top part has a hint of blonde and the ends are brown. Nothing like how I expected it to be.
I’m suppose to come in again so she can fix the roots (make it more even) and then do the keratin. At this point, I’m so unhappy with my hair — I rather go somewhere else to redo my highlights.
I’ll update this review if I decide to go back!

This review is LONG overdue. I raved and raved about the amazing hands of Ilma to all of my friends and colleagues but forgot about the Unilocal community (oops!).
I received an absolutely amazing keratin treatment here at Touch of Brazil back in late July by sweet Ilma (she is a doll) and it was hands down the best keratin treatment I have had to date.
Ladies if you saw the birds nest I was sporting when I arrived at the salon you would never in a million years believe that Ilma would be able to transform it into silky and shiny Cher hair. Even Ilma herself was amazed at how well the treatment made my hair look.
Just minutes after I left the salon I received several compliments from complete strangers (men and women) along Steinway telling me I have beautiful hair.

I have been coming to Touch of Brazil since a kid when it use to be called: Brazilian Beauty. I have always loved this place and I am happy with the continue success. Never had a complain, I go from blonde to brunette and love it every time. I always wanted long hair but after MANY failed attempts I gave up on it. Until, Priscyla started cutting my hair. Not only is it long but it is HEALTHY. Priscyla is an EXPERT at highlights. And Ilma is the sweetest person! The relationship between Ilma and Priscyla is obvious and its very inviting. The service is great and the price reasonable. My experience went from great and turned into MARVELOUS as soon as Priscyla came in the picture! Love it here!

i go to Ilmas salon every month for my haircut… usually, i dont trust anybody when it comes with my hair, but Ilma is always helpful and knows the way to do it the right way… Priscila also works at the place and is always with an smile in her face. overall, i think Ilma is an excellent professional and i highly recommend.

I got my curly hair slightly relaxed here with the brazilian treatment (once in Jan 2010 and again Sept 2010. The 2^nd time looked even better, I think it builds on itself). I feel the treatment is permanent because once the coating was washed out completely (in about 3 months I think) my hair was left permanently slightly relaxed but shiney, even after I got it bleached elsewhere (which I lived to regret). I would say I went from a tight corkscrew curl at the bottom of my hair (see pics) to a looser botticelli curl that does not coil but stays in an «S» shape instead. Despite this, there is NO line between my new growth and the treated hair. It somehow blends nicely, I have no idea how. I mean I went 8 months b4 doing it again. Maybe the ends pull the roots down? I have no idea.
I asked for a lighter version so I can keep my curl & have an option of straightening. I posted pics of the curls b4 and after and eventually will post a straight pic too. I get a trim as well. My treatment was $ 180ish and with a trim was $ 225 (not including tip). Huma and Priscilla are both awesome, no attitude, just warm and friendly. I believe I’m in and out in about 3 hrs. The best part is, before doing the brazilian treatment, no matter how long my hair grew you could never tell, it would just spring up to the same damn length. Now my curly hair finally looks long since the coils are looser :) Hope this helps. I’m happy to answer any questions, just don’t ask me about formaldehyde because I have NO idea, but you can ask the salon.
