The people who own and run the shop are so nice and welcoming. All the sandwiches are delicious as well as the sides. I’d say this is my favorite sandwich and lunch place in downtown Athens. Don’t miss this hidden gem.

The lady that runs this place is super nice! I was babysitting a couple of kids and realized I probably shouldn’t be taking them into walkers… It was then that I decided it would be a good idea to eat here and not check the hours. Needless to say, the last was sweet enough to not kick us out but I apologized profusely for staying thirty minutes after close. Food was pretty decent too.

I got the club sandwich. It was sorely disappointing. The bacon was razor thin as was the meat. Th lettuce was shredded iceberg and the tomatoes weren’t really ripe. The«sourdough» it was served on was like regular white bread(ew). I’ve had club sandwiches elsewhere for the same price that had much more premium ingredients. The side of cole slaw was also gross. I felt like I was eating something from an elementary school cafeteria, not a sandwich shop!

The chicken noodle soup is amazing here. Service is kind of strange. The waitress was pretty unfriendly, but the staff working in the back seemed pretty happy to see us. At first I didn’t think many people would come, but it was packed around lunch time — a lot of to go orders. I had the Athens Banner Herald sandwich which was really good. It’s kind of pricey, I paid nearly $ 10 for soup, salad, and a drink(most of the options were out of order). Definitely give it a try, but don’t expect anything great with service. Great food though, definitely going back.

I am a business owner in Downtown Athens so I get to eat the same thing over and over again, but this place is one of the few places where I go sometimes 2 – 3 times a week. This place is so underrated and definitely a hidden gem! The location is awesome for people who work downtown or even students. It is located between Walker’s Pub and Marvin’s Shoe Repair. You have to walk down the stairs but this place is totally worth the extra effort to find. Always get the daily combo special with sandwich, side and soup for around $ 8 after tax. I love the Athens-Banner with it’s honey mustard dressing. The ladies there are always pleasant and their sandwiches are always consistent in quality and portion. Besides Sweet Peppers, this place is the way to go if you are craving sandwiches. Highly recommend!

That was a real treat. Just ate a tuna melt that was so good that I don’t want to eat tuna melts from anywhere else now — including my own house. Pasta salad was an adequate serving and pretty tasty. Sweet tea was just right, and the to-go cup, while not large, was also adequate. This place will probably become a new bi-weekly stopping place for me.

The best club sandwich I’ve ever had hands down. This little café blows away any deli I’ve tried in Athens.
