Can’t give a review on the food because we were never given the opportunity to order. Not one server came to our table, so we left. I have to give one star or I can’t post the comment.

Do not go on a Monday. I should have turned around when I saw the place was empty, but I thought — okay, Monday, I will give the benefit of the doubt and I also relied and went based on Unilocal reviews — everyone says this place is great? Good grief. I was brought a COLD bowl of miso with one tofu cube and no greens or flavor of any kind. Salad was soaked in some sort of milk based dressing — not the usual peanut you expect(the greens were crisp at least). Ordered the white Dragon roll and the tempura shrimp sushi. SOOOOO much salt my teeth actually hurt. and I used the low salt version of soy sauce. This is my second bad experience with Athens sushi — you would think I would have learned the first time! I never leave food on my plate — I physically could not eat it, so a new precedent has been established.

It is what you make it here and the rolls are not expensive so you are getting what you pay for. I like the super crunch roll and lobster roll. The fried rice is really good too.

The only negatives I have to say here is that the presentation is uninspired and some of the sushi dishes can take a while to come out. The food that I had was very good to excellent. I love sashimi and the fish here tasted fresh and the portions were very big. The décor is nice and the overall ambiance is good. id recommend this place!

Everything tastes so good here! Their fried rice and lobster roll are the best. It is well decorated and classy. The only source of good Japanese food in Athens!

As I walked in, I was a bit deterred. The health rating that was hanging on the wall was an 82 and the décor looked a bit drab. However, my fears were quickly put to rest after being greeted by a friendly host and being waited on by a kind waitress. I ordered the deluxe lunch combination, which allowed me to order one sushi roll from each of the two lists that they had and a side order. The deluxe lunch combination also came with soup and salad. I ordered the Utage Special Roll and the Shrimp Tempura Roll as my sushi rolls and the Shrimp Gyoza as my side. It was amazing. The soup, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Shrimp Gyoza were all very delicious, but what really stood out was the Utage Special Roll. I’m not quite sure what was in it, but it came coated in various sauces that really added to the flavor. And for the first time in forever, sushi actually made me feel full. Oh. And it only cost $ 13.95 +tax and tip, which I also thought was a pretty good deal considering what I got.

Come for lunch, the combinations are a great deal for all that you get! I enjoyed a utage special roll, bulldog roll, soup, salad, and shrimp gyoza all for just $ 14.93(plus tip) for lunch today. Definitely some of the best sushi you can find in Athens. I recommend the utage special roll and volcano roll.

I’ve been here everal times; honestly it’s gotten progressively less impressive(and it was never all that good). The last time I ate there, the rainbow roll’s inner contents had a strong and not particularly pleasant taste that overwhelmed their outer coverings; I didn’t even finish half the roll because of the lackluster taste. And the price is honestly too high when considering the lackluster quality.

Awesome lunch special in which you get a salad, miso soup, and two sushi rolls. The ambiance was lovely with little blue lights everywhere. The service was prompt. We also had some warm sake.

I was a bit unsure of this place because 1. I’m not a big sushi person and 2. They had limited alternative choices to sushi. I asked the host/manager before I sat down if it was okay to order a dish and replace the rice with noodles or something else because I’m allergic to rice. The manager said that it was fine. I ordered the lunch special that was the chicken teriayki which comes with salad and miso soup. Normally this entrée comes with rice, but I asked the waitress if it could be substituted with noodles and she said that the chef cannot do that. I explained to her that I just asked the host of that was possible because of my allergy and she complied and said she’ll figure it out. She comes back and says that I would have to order the«deluxe» lunch special for me to get the noodles. For some people this may not be a big deal; however, it’s a bit of a nuisance especially since I already asked before I was seated if my substitution would be okay. Anyway… On to the food… it was okay at best. I’m sure because the restaurant is known for sushi, that would be the thing to get there. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out for me. Although some may question what am I doing ordering non-sushi food at a sushi restaurant, I’m writing this review from a perspective of someone that doesn’t eat sushi. A person might find him or herself having to eat at a sushi restaurant and may need to have an idea of what is the best thing to order. The chicken teriyaki was not that great or special by any means. I did end up ordering the udon noodles, but they were flavorless and sticky too as if you left a bowl of cooked pasta for an hour outside. My friend got the pork gyoza which is similar to a fried pork dumpling. She also got the fried tempura and shrimp. I would recommend those items on the menu. Upon entering the restaurant, I felt a bit confused because the décor reminded me of more a night-time theme. It was interesting nonetheless. I wouldn’t choose to eat here again unless I was forced to. At least next time I’ll know what to order if I do come back.

My fiancé and I were disappointed by our experience at Utage. We should have left after we walked in and saw the health score of 82! The food was decent but overpriced and they charged extra for every little thing! We asked for Sriracha sauce expecting them to bring us bottle like most sushi places but they brought a tiny dish of it and charged us extra for it! They also will not give you a side order of fried rice which we found very odd. The service was pleasant and they do have good drink specials but this was not enough to make it worth it; we will not return.

Possibly the best sushi in Athens. Delicious rolls and excellent price, with fast and polite service. If I want sushi in Athens, Utage is where I’m going.

I can’t think of anything bad to say about this place! The combination specials with soup, salad, and choice of two rolls is a great deal. We tried the A and the B combos, and all 4 rolls we got were delicious(dragon, salmon skin, spicy bulldog, and Utage special). Stephanie, our server, was very friendly and cheerful. We will definitely be back!

The best sushi in Athens! Their sushi is very fresh and delicious. I haven’t gotten a roll here that I don’t like. The MJ roll is good, the super crunch roll, the white tiger, the shrimp dragon roll. Their fried rice is good too. They have a good deal for lunch as well as cheap prices for two rolls of sushi, a salad and soup. If you want good sushi this is where you should go! The sushi chefs are very kind and helpful if you don’t know what you want!

The Sushi is okay but if you ask for anything special, like getting the roll tempura fried, they usually mess it up or don’t do it at all. If you like to do your own special thing go else where.

I really enjoy coming to Utage for their lunch special. You get two rolls, soup, salad, and a side for about $ 10(cheaper for normal rolls, a little more if you go for a gourmet one). The quality is above average for Athens. It’s not the best, but it wins on the most bang for your buck. I’ve never left unsatisfied. I got the Athens(seared tuna with lettuce) and dynamite(spicy tuna and white tuna) rolls and enjoyed both. Their ginger salad dressing is maybe the best in town, and I love to keep it to dip my rolls in — it goes especially well with the Athens roll. I’ve also liked the spicy bulldog, UGA, and yum yum rolls. I haven’t been for dinner in years, but I can only assume it’s just as good as lunch. But you really can’t beat the lunch special for downtown.

Sushi was ok, but fell apart when you picked it up with chop sticks. Shrimp dinner was cold! And when I brought to their attention it was taken away and returned 3 min later. Wallah… the microwave works! Sad! Oh and the ginger salad was swimming in dressing like a bowl of soup!

I loved eating at this place when I lived in Athens 5 or 6 years ago. Made a return trip a few weeks ago when I came out for a football game, and it’s still great. On par with many of the sushi restaurants that I’ve paid much more money for in NYC. My personal favorite thing they have is their Ika Sansai(squid salad), it’s delicious and I haven’t found one like it anywhere else. All of their different rolls and sashimi are always fresh and delicious. Had the White Tiger roll on my last visit and it was awesome. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and love sushi, this is as good as it gets down here.
