A La Mode Dessert Bar

Closed, dead. Disassemble, dead. Don’t know how I missed the «- CLOSED» appended to the name or that the last review was from 2008 but I attempted to stop in over the weekend. Hopefully this review will help dense individuals like myself from making the same mistake.
PS — If you do end up at Kirkwood Station though, you might as well stop in Le Petit Marché. Mmm.

An excellent ice cream shop, its clean, nicely decorated and good has a good variety of flavors.
This is just what we need in the neighborhood.

I am teetering between 2 – 3 stars, so I’ll give them a 2.5 rating.
Cute place but a bit hard to find. It’s located in the new Kirkwood Station next to Venocity. They have a good selection of ice cream, gelato and candies. The only thing is that they ran out of the popular flavors and both the ice cream and gelato were way too cold to the point that the kids could not scoop up the ice cream because it was too hard or had major freezer burn. Plus the gelato did not look fresh at all.
It also looked like they haven’t hired anyone full time since the owners kids were working the shop. The younger ones had no idea where items were and how to use the cash register, so the oldest had to do everything and clean up the mistakes the younger kids made.
I think this could be a really good place if they have someone older working, keep ice cream and candy in stock, and make fresh gelato every day. Definitely hard to complete with the ice cream stores that make fresh homemade ice cream daily.

Well shoot! I’m not the first to review… But I can say that I had a special «insiders preview» before they were even open… what can I say?.. VIP. lol… Al a Mode has a chic modern décor which is just too cute! Great Ice creams and gelatos… I sampled the green tea, tiramisu, strawberry… and yes. the list goes on! They were all great and very rich in flavor. In addition to just getting a scoop of frozen goodness they can also be served ala mode. hence the name! A La mode just adds just a bit more urban chic to the up and coming Kirkwood area.

Yum! I am so happy to have this beautiful shop in my hood! For such a quaint shop, the selections of yummy frozen concoctions are numerous. The hours are a little strange, but hopefully they will expand and be open more often.
Must try… The green tea ice cream, it was uniquely tasty and wonderfully creamy.
