Return Visit! AWEFUL! I will never patronize this place ever again. Waiters over committed with to many tables. They try to pack as many people in as possible and don’t have adequate staff. Wait times for food after being seated upwards of 1 hour 30 minutes. Management Sucks. I refuse to patronize and you shouldn’t either.

I have been here twice and each time I have truly enjoyed myself. My food was good but the jazz band/singer was even better. They really get you involved and you can’t help but to dance/sing along in your seat. The setting is nice and intimate. There was no cover charge on that side but there is a little club connected to it that has one. There is valet parking which is nice. I would go again.

I would give it one star but the band wasn’t bad. Overpriced food. Super slow service. Servers do not know the menu or wines. ½ of the wines aren’t even available! Had to pass my salt and pepper over to other tables to share. The ambiance could use some help. My food wasn’t great at all. My friends was decent. Could use some consistency. Actually quite disappointed.

No, No, and No! The food all tastes like it is just frozen stuff that is reheated. I ordered the fries and after 20 minutes the waitress brought some Olé Rida fries with Old Bay pitifully sprinkled on top. My friend had baked fish. After a smell of the fish, we asked for the manager because it was blatantly rancid. The manager could care less and tried to convince her to eat it! We told him to eat the tab which he did after 10 minutes of haggling. The jazz here is good but it cannot make up for the horrid food. Please go somewhere else with your hard earned dollar.

One star off for whack parking. They have a sign out near the main street stating valet parking, but when you finally are able to pull into the side street they say the lot is full… even though people are leaving. This happened to me and the guy told me that I could go to the other lot a little further down. Now if I was the typical Atlanta woman I would have had on 5″ heels and had a long weave to drag behind me, but fortunately I had on flats. I drove to the other lot, which was almost empty and the guy told me it would be $ 10 to park. What? I asked him how much the other lot was and he told me that I could go back up there and ask the guy. Smart ass. I was so bothered by that. I ended up parking because I had no choice, but that just left me sore. That and having to trek in the middle of a street because there aren’t any sidewalks in the dark back to Acoustix. I made my way to the R&B side where I was told Acoustix is the other door… you know, the one that looked closed? I met my sis there who had a great table right by the stage. The abiance was nice, a lot of couples and expensive things on the menu. There was a lot of variety on the menu, but I already ate. The music was good, but I guess I’m used to places having a set time, then the set ends and we all leave. Here people were just coming and going as they pleased. It was a little distracting, but when we got tired of it we also left, so I guess that wasn’t so bad. One other complaint… they have televisions in the restaurant… kind of kills a vibe, like you can’t not watch a football, basketball(insert whatever other sport here) for three hours??? Do all places in ATL do seperate checks? Or just black establishments? I was a little confused, but I guess that’s the norm?

I can only speak for the R&B section. The singers were very talented and the music was awesome. There was a $ 5 cover charge for the R&B section and a $ 10 cover for the Jazz section. I am unfamiliar with the two drink minimum rule that I’m reading about in the other reviews. I sat at the bar and only consumed one drink with no protest from the bartender. He made a very tasty peach martini. The entrée items were pricy($ 20+). I’ve read their reviews on food and opted not to set myself up for a expensive disappointment. I would come here again but primarily for the music.

We read all of the Unilocal reviews and almost didn’t come! Since we had already purchased tickets on Goldstar we decided to come and leave early if it was anything like the other Unilocal reviewers experienced. Good decision! Tom Braxton was performing and he was well worth trip. There were about 50 patrons on a Thursday night so lots of seating. We didn’t try the food(scared off by the Unilocal reviews) — decided to try Yeah! Burger afterwards. Parking was free; almost didn’t come because of the mention of $ 10 valet. There was a two drink minimum. Overall it was a good experience and we would come back to see someone whose music we’re familiar with.

The good — The band was at times quite nice until the lead singer started to cover a Maxwell song then he sounded like a brokedown El DeBarge. The real shame started with the hostess who missed the class on smiling being friendly and having personality. Our waiter was on point, helpful and quite welcoming. He was a beacon in an otherwise dark and dingy evening. Have you ever said to yourself…“This is going to be bad?” But you do it anyway? WellI did. I ordered the steak med-rare it arrived more toward med– well paired with onion rings, grilled veggies and mashed potatoes I sware were delivered in a box marked Betty Crocker! It was not tender nor flavorful although the presentation was very nice. My advice– Be what you are. A jazz club not a supper club. Tell gentelmen baseball caps or any other hat not on a woman isnt acceptable. Replace the jammed in dinner tables w café tables w little candles. Discourage Crocket and Tubbs from hanging around by changing the south Florida Miami Vice motif in favor of expossed brick. Sell a much smaller menu of fresh selections not the old dried salmon and waffel house steaks. Thus far the insult was bad enough now for the injury. Arriving at 6pm our party was seated for dinner while the band set up and paying a $ 5 charge per person to be seated together we were told we had two hours and after would have to leave. Every person ordered a meal and drinks while the band set up. Near the end of the set we were advised we would all have to leave the cramped tables. We could stay inthe club but it wouldcost another $ 10 per person to retaintheseatswe had. Make the staff take happy pills or joy juice and get a mixologist to focus on cognacs, burbons and gin. Put up black and white photographs of jazz greats and deliver on your potential. The place has a good location, diverse clientel and decent music but misses in sooo many areas I cannot in good faith say more nice things. Sadly I don’t planto return and minus the suggested changes this place may not make it.

I visited this place and paid $ 20.00 at the door. urgh! anyway my friend had a discount ticket and I tagged along. The place is ok, the food was ok, but the seating was not a favorite to me. If you want to have a cozy dinner and listen to jazz, you will be sitting with strangers. The place was extremely jammed and it felt too boxed in. The artist Gerald Veasley was good, but came on a little bit too late for me since it was on a Sunday night. The parking is not the best also and you do pay for valet service. I will give it a try again and hopefully sit at the bar in order to leave without asking people to skoot over and let me by.

There are only a couple of venues for jazz and no smoking, so this was the choice. You prepay a $ 5 cover with a reservation. You are limited to 2 ½ hours for the reservation, which isn’t a problem at all, as you will have your fill by then. If not, you can probably go the bar, and hang out, but, we had enough, so we called it a night. The food is not the attraction, but it wasn’t half bad. Cajun chicken, salads, and other mains average $ 19 – 20. Bottle of wine was $ 34, and glasses were $ 8. Limited desserts @ $ 11 can be passed over. Music was too loud for any conversation at our table. There were a couple of breaks in between sets and our table of four got our conversation in then. Bottom line: I’ve been, and I likely won’t return.

Went here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and was not very impressed. For starters, valet was slow and after we parked our car, the valet attendant came to our car asking for money and our keys. We gave in so we could stay in the parking lot closest to the restaurant, but when we came out, the valet moved my friend’s car to park a more expensive car in our prime parking space. After reading the menu, I was excited to try the food. The dishes are named after famous jazz legends and the descriptions seemed pretty appetizing as well. We had a great server and was looking forward to a fun evening. However, everything that my friends and I tried was just not up to par. I had a Caesar salad as my first dish, which was standard, nothing special. I also tried the ‘homemade’ baked Mac and Cheese and it was definitely made by Kraft… the kind where you just add water. Nothing homemade about it. Only runny, cheesy noodles from the famous blue box, The rest of the food was lukewarm. Most tasted like leftovers and maybe the owner’s wife was/is the chef. We are not sure. All we know is that we could have had a better meal if we did a potluck. The music wasn’t too bad. They had a jazz band with a male vocalist and he was okay. Overall, did not have the best experience and its likely that I will not be returning here soon.

I loved this place! My hubby, family, and friends ate dinner here for my birthday(9⁄28) and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Maurice, the owner, was very approachable and made all the guests feel welcomed. There were other large parties there for anniversaries, birthdays, etc but the attention was equally divided. Overall, service was not compromised. Granted, our server got a little confused and was slow at times but it was isolated to him. I almost think he was new because the nervousness was noticeable but it didn’t make a major difference in our experience. The food *licks fingers* was great and MSG free… woooohooooooo!!! The food was reasonably priced and the portion was comparable to the price. The bartender was good too because the drinks helped us right on out. :-) The music and décor set the scene for great conversation and laughs. I could not have picked a better place for everyone at the table to get to know each other and have a great time. Also, if you make reservations, you get a free ticket to the comedy show held in the same building but in right next room. Overall great place! We will be back!

Came by for a Halloween party in the. basement? Parking was convenient since they had valet, which was $ 5. The place was… tiny. The drinks were pretty awful. And it took FOREVER to get them to notice you. They don’t have a minimum when paying by card though, which is nice. When I went around asking my friends what drinks were good, they said to not even bother, and to just stick with a beer. Well, I am currently not a beer lover, so that was just a disappointment to hear. The DJ was poppin’ though. Good music which means tons of dancing. I suppose I’ll come back to actually try the restaurant aspect of it? Maybe? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Wow… this place is NICE! Hubby and I decided we were going to break tradition of going to Fogo de Chao(only cuz we are trying to stay on our diet, it was a sacrifice believe me!) to celebrate our anniversary and made reservations via Unilocal for dinner at Acoustix. We were immediately seated at a table closest to the stage and it was a lot of parties going on in there. The music was great and really made the ambiance something romantic and special. Not a lot of places can do that around town nowadays. They do a really nice thing where the musicians took a break and the singer for the night called everyone celebrating a birthday up to receive a gift of chocolate covered strawberries complimentary of the restaurant. A really nice gesture and everyone loved their little moment in the spotlight. The food was excellent, little pricey but definitely worth trying. I got the Lena Horne which is two jerked chicken breasts with a side of sauteed spinach. Was really good but don’t get it expecting the heat of real jerked seasoning. It was more about the flavor which is smart to appeal to more pallets. I enjoyed it… though I like it hot myself. I only gave it 4 stars because I did not go to the lounge portion of the venue, though it seemed around 10:00 it was in full swing. Definitely will go check it out soon and write about how it was. Hope this helped guys!

Aside from the $ 10 cover for the late band and under cooked calamari, I’m still rooting for them to pull out a great evening with food and good music. I’ve heard wonderful reviews. Let’s hope it’s true. It turned out to be a wonderful venue. The band was talented and one of the musicians was a Grammy Award Winner! Great atmosphere. Great date spot with a grown and sexy audience.

My husband hit one out the park, on his assigned date night, when he found this place. I am glad we found a nice and classy restaurant/lounge that offers live jazz music. Pros: 1.) Free parking(or if you choose to spend some extra bucks, they have valet). 2.) The don’t skimp on the alcohol. 3.) Features live jazz, RnB, and spoken word. 4.) $ 5 cover charge. 5.) Wait staff are not pushy enforcing the 2-drink minimum. Cons: 1.) Although they don’t skimp on the alcohol, the bartender could do a much better job of blending the drinks so you DON’T have to taste ALL the alcohol. 2.) Service in the lounge is scattered. Although the servers were very polite, we couldn’t figure out who was serving whom, and we had a hard time getting our check at the end of the night. All in all I was impressed with our first visit. I see some room for improvement, but I hope by my next visit I can give Acoustic at least an extra star. P. S. I would recommend if you are in your late 20’s to early 30’s, that you get here after 9:30. After 9 the lounge opens, and they mainly play neo-soul/RnB/smooth jazz type music in the lounge ara. A more mature crowd was in the restaurant area listening to traditional jazz, while a younger crowd was waiting in the restaurant prior to 9:30 for the lounge to open.

Last night I ventured down to Acoustic Jazz for a friends birthday. I have to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a really nice venue. Its really spacious inside with interesting décor and I realized when I was leaving that you can go downstairs where they have more live music. The music was awesome! They had a jazz singer upstairs with a great band. Also, I love going out where everyone is dressed appropriately. No hoochies at this place! I didnt eat this time as I had dinner elsewhere. I had a decent glass of red wine and the rest of the party seemed to enjoy there entrees. Price point of about 20.00 for an entrée. The server was excellent and attentive. You can self park or valet. It was quite an enjoyable experience and I think I will go back soon.

My first visit to Acoustix was Sat April 30th2011. I had researched a link sent to me by a friend. The website/design is AWESOME, very colorful and does look exactly as the posted photos. The only reason I did not rate 5 star was my guests and myself thought the food to be good but not great, very creative names for the menu however. Outside of the food, I would rate Acoustix a 5 star. The absolute best in traditional/straight –ahead/classic jazz!!! The bands booked are authentic/original and sound great!!! Another huge + is the two level option. Level 1 is strictly«jazz», full service bar, very clean decorative bathrooms, wonderful friendly staff and beautiful décor. A very low and well worth it cover charge for entry. Downstairs is equally as accomodating, with the lounge style appeal, very colorful and nicely decorated. The atmosphere is live neo-soul, r&b, olé skool(no hip-hop/rap) as this is for the grown and sexy folks. So to sum it up, you don’t have the leave Acoustix for find some other flava when its all right there for your convenience. Acoustix is a must visit and return venue for sure!!! Hats off to Frank(the owner)…nice vision and direction for Atlanta!
