Bamboo Luau’s Chinatown

The BEST Chinese food in America!!! I have been to several of the top rated restaurants in Chinatown NYC, SF, Seattle, Chicago, and others… but Bamboo is the best! I suggest the bo bo platter and the shrimp pan fried noodles.

This place is a total mess. Waiting 45 mins for my order, then the woman behind the counter gave me the wrong order. Chased me down and started banging on my care when I was waiting to turn onto Cheshire. She then grabbed the order out of the window when I opened to ask her what was up. I went back in, waiting another 30 mins for my really order and then she explained that there was a $ 1 difference between my order and the order she actually charged me for. Never Again.

First impression? Not good. At all. Walk in, no greeting. I’m asked, «To go?» I respond, «Yes». The host” replies, «Oh, thank God!» I get that I walked in at 2AM when you guys close at 3. I would never consider eating in that close to an establishment’s closing time. I’ve been a «server» before. But that was completely rude and presumptuous.
My bf ordered sesame chicken and asked to get lo mein with it. The manager quickly cuts him off, and says that it only comes with rice. After we interjected, and SLOWLY explained the point was to PAY extra to eat what we preferred, she huffed that it would be $ 5 to add it on. Ok. So? And? We paid, and after a few minutes we got our food.
Not even going to bother leaving a note on the food. Haven’t eaten it yet. But this place was trash. And I’ll never be back.

I fractured my dominate hand in October 2015. Upon entering the elder woman hostess noticed and sat us near the hostess station. She took our orders and when they came she served us. She even went as far as to attempt to cut the food up and assist me in eating. The attentiveness was great and the food as always was on par. I find them to be consistent.

Went in at 12:45 PM on a Friday. There were only 2 other «customers». One was napping in a booth with no food in front of him. The other was on his phone at the hostess stand. We waited 5 minutes and no one came out to greet or seat us so we left. Looked more like a front than a restaurant.

Really love the food here. Last time I came to get a to go order they had a new server who was very inappropriate. Took a photo with me. Not sure how I feel about returning now. Food is alway wonderful though. Love the steamed potstickers.

I love this place they have the best egg rolls and most places only have spring rolls that fact that it’s open to 3am is a plus I’ve had the sesame chicken, egg drop soup and of course egg rolls they also have a bar I’ve gotten take out and sat inside and I’m actually about to order delivery

Fun Place, blast from the past! Straight from the 70’s. All the traditional fare, with fun drink list. The drinks are «On Fire» literally.

Ok well I’ve been going here for years. Many times after the club. Be very careful I do not recommend going to eat here. Last week I ate there and then not even three hours after I had a fever and a stomach aches also I had chills and started throwing up. I got food poisoning from the chicken at bamboo. I’ve given this place many chances but this has came too far. I was not happy with this place and they should really change how they run things. I’ve been here when it’s good but not this time. After failing inspection tons of times and now this I will never go back again. Good luck and hope you have a healthy immune system!

To start, this place is open until 3AM, so you can’t hate on that!
I have no complaints on this place! I have been here sober in the afternoon and then less than sober at 2:00 AM and even ordered to go for dinner… all of which have been great times food and service wise. Don’t get me wrong, it is not the best I have ever had, but it is way far from the worse. I have sampled many a dish from their extensive menu and never really had a complaint.
Overall, good location, good service, good food and overall great place.

This used to be an amazing restaurant, but like I said «used to be» nowadays the food is pretty much flavorless downright a waste of money. Had the curry chicken and my friend had the broccoli chicken, and both plates of food were tasteless.

Awesome place that serves drinks until 3am. Food is decent and service is good. Best place to rejuvenate after a night out in town.

The food is fine, but the service is poor. One waiter talks too much and other one just didnt seem to care. I had to walk to the bar and ask for refills on water and the rest of my order that the waiter forgot to bring out. His laptop was more important. It was twenty years when i last ate there. Itll be another twenty before i go back. If ever.

Good for take out on a late night or Sunday night when nothing else is open. A bit pricey for chinese take-​out (far from gourmet). Initially I wanted to order General Tso Shrimp with fried rice, but was told if I wanted fried rice instead of white, I need to pay an additional $ 5 on top of the $ 11.95, I’ll pass. I ordered the shrimp & broccoli in garlic sauce for myself, chicken & broccoli for my son and crab rangoons for our appetizers. My son said the chicken was good and fresh he really enjoyed. I would never order the crab rangoons again… way too much cream cheese and I could not find one shred of crabmeat. Although I enjoyed my shrimp & broccoli in garlic sauce, it wasnt as spicey as the hostess warned me, I’ve had much better but it did hit the spot. I would order again.
Yes I will return, great late night spot when all else is closed. I did get a menu to order ahead and they also deliver.

This place does not deserve even one star… I ordered shrimp and broccoli with white rice, I was with a group of friends visiting atlanta and we were trying to figure out where to eat, this place was conveniently beside the tattoo shop where we got our tattoos so we just ordered there, got back to the hotel and I poured my rice onto a plate and lo’ and behold there was an ant stuck to my sticky rice obviously dead !!! This turned me completely off of chinese food smh… not a clean place at alllllll! Real sketchy! Called the owner and he was trying to give me more rice at first and probably thought I was lying, I showed him pics from my phone of when i took pics of my rice.

Solid food, nothing to write home about but quick service, good prices (especially at lunch) and slightly better than average Chinese food.

God awful. I just ordered food to go from here. I had a chicken fried rice. The chicken was old. It was very obvious. I literally had to pick out the tiny pieces of old tire out of my rice. The rice was… also terrible. I hope I don’t come down with food poisoning.
The upside, the person who took my order and gave me my food was nice. Bamboo you earned one star for service, but I probably won’t be back…

A place I’ve frequented numerous times. Its not the strikingly best, but its pretty good when you have a craving for Chinese food. It always seems to have no more than five tables if even that full. Ive never seen a crowd in this place, but I suppose its because its right up the street from another Chinese spot.
One thing I will say about this place is that it stays open late, so that’s a plus in my book.

Food was ok. Crab Rangoon were bland and had a weird filling texture. Beef dish was spicy. I think more to mask the bland flavor. Jalapenos and onions tasted a bit old. It filled me up for 2am. but doesn’t have me wanting to come back again. Wait staff was blah… customers seemed to be high maintenance. China Bangkok down the street is much better.

So, you are tipsy, working on your 2^nd hangover for the day, and you are starving. McD’s is mobbed, WaHo has a parking lot brawl over the last seat, and you just want to sit down, and get some decent food. Well, for 2:15 on a Sunday morning, this place fit the bill, and did it well.
As we arrived, we were greeted and seated promptly, and this place started filling up quickly with late night club howlers.
I forgot our servers name, but he was a huge white guy, hell I think he was bigger than me– but he knew his shit, and was very friendly (hold that thought!).
The menu was vast, as with most Chinese restaurants, and decently priced. The booths were sort of small, but the tables were larger and spaced out– didn’t bother me, I just ended up noticing that.
I got the Hunan Beef, as I wanted some spice. Also got crab rangoon. The food came out fast! The crab rangoon were decent– hot and crispy, so was the sauce. The Hunan Beef was alright, I wish it had more kick to it (I have been cursed a lot recently with that lately, guess I am due for a trip back to TastyChina!). It was pretty salty too, I mean you have to realize though– this is pretty much late night Chinese. But in the end, it filled me up when other restaurants couldn’t.
When I got the check, we got fortune cookies (yea!) — and it was eerily true what was said on our fortunes (was our table bugged?). Creepy!
As we got to the car (my buddy was driving my car), our waiter came up and the first thing I thought was «oh shit, is a 35% tip not enough? » I thought there was going to be a battle of Goldberg vs. John Cena in the lot, as if the brawl across the street wasn’t enough. Thankfully, he had our friends wallet she left at the table! With everything in it! That was sooo clutch, and much deserving of the tip. We will be forever indebted for your honesty!
Is this the best Chinese food I have had? Absolutely not. But it came at a clutch moment, and I got customer service that I wish I could get in the daytime. Thanks again!
