Had reservations last week for 8:30 pm and even at 9 I wasn’t seated so we decided to leave. It was a busy night so I wasn’t fussy about it. Upon leaving the general manager stopped and apologized and gave me his card to set something up for the other week and that he did. I gave them five stars for these reasons: 1. The GM and his staff are all so welcoming and I appreciate him reaching out to me. 2. Our server was great. He was attentive. He had perfect timing with the food. He took our drinks orders and got them to us immediately. Our small plates(apps) then came out and let me tell you, the food is amazing. The pimento cheese spread, smoked trout spread, prosciutto and mozzarella were all delicious. 3. The steak was perfectly cooked. 4. The burgers were totally delicious and the garlic herb fries were yummy. 5. Food presentation was lovely. 6. Everything tasted freshly made. Despite the mishap the previous week I still decided to try them out. I highly recommend this place. Delicious food + great service.

Brought some business colleagues with me for lunch. We all had the burger. The sides were salad, herb fries and leafy greens. We also had the deviled eggs. Everything was very good.

This place has my favorite thin burger in Atl! Cannot say enough about it. I’ve also had a few other bites on the menu and all did not disappoint. Cute and cozy inside!

About Bocado(from their website): «located within atlanta’s growing westside dining scene, bocado offers contemporary, eclectic american cuisine on a rotating seasonal menu, playful and classic cocktails, as well as craft beer and wine. the lunch menu is lent to creative sandwiches and sides, while the dinner menu gives precedence to small, experimental plates and larger entrees, with both menus changing frequently as local produce becomes available.» Bocado is known for serving up one of the best burgers in the city and the nation. There burger is a double stack with American cheese and house made b&b pickles. Served with fries. My friend and I went on a night they were offering a 50% off special. The place is fun and on the loud side. It is popular and I am sure it was even busier due to the special. Thank goodness for reservations. The burger was cooked well, but my friend and I were unimpressed. We don’t understand the hype. It is good, but nothing special. We wonder though it may not have been spectacular due to the heavy volume of burgers that evening. I would want to give them another try.

I’ll have to come back and try some dinner options, we had lunch and walked in right around opening time. Our server was legit! Julius gave some really great suggestions with wine and menu items.(Fries were a highlight) I had the only rosé by the glass but it was light, chilled and refreshing. Just like it should be! I had the burger and it was pretty good! Very salty and not overly greasy but overall a tasty treat. The side Caesar salad was an extremely generous portion for a side which was nice and had delicious parm grated on top. I wasn’t particularly overwhelmed by the food but the experience was lovely. We sat outside and enjoyed the unusually warm winter weather and loved our server. He had character and made for a would-be casual lunch much more. That’s what true service is all about!

A few months ago, at my friend’s recommendation, a small group and I decided to walk here from Georgia Tech one night to try the Bocado burger. It was strange to see the difference in entrée prices. The burger was around $ 15 or so dollars while all the other entrees seemed to be $ 23+. Never the less, we got the Bocado burger that I came here for while another member in our party decided on a duck pasta. The burger has a good taste, I can definitely give it that, but at this point I hadn’t had Holeman and Finch’s even more acclaimed burger. Had H&F tasted like Bocado, I might’ve not made the journey over to try H&F. While it was really yummy, it wasn’t super amazing. Definitely simple and classic, but I wouldn’t say it was better than H&F now that I’ve had the latter. The fries were definitely better however, because parmesan herb is fantastic with some crispy potato slices. I apologize for the constant comparisons, Bocado does have its upsides. It’s not reliant on reservations, which definitely makes this place so much nicer for people who can’t plan their weekend meals 1 full week in advance. Though we had made a reservation, I think it wouldn’t have taken long to give us a seat for 4 as the dinner service wound down. The duck pasta(that’s not it’s actual name I just can’t remember it) that was also ordered was good, though the portion seemed smaller than I’d expect. However, I think it’s accounted for with how heavy the dish could be. Bocado is definitely a positive experience. It’s intimate and dark setting makes it a nice place for dates and even to hang out with a small group of friends over delicious food. It has its perks, and I’d love to come back here to try the other dishes on the menu.

The Bocado burger is quite tasty. You get two patties and they cook all burgers at one temperature, with the promise of the burger being juicy. Promise delivered. The bun is also nicely toasted. Parking: complimentary valet. There is a lot in the back but is $ 3. It’s also a little bit of a walk and not sure how well lit it is at night. Probably best to valet

I had the burger with herb fries. The burger is amazing and made with Creekstone meat, which might make some of ya’ll happy. The fries were so good, especially with the white sauce it comes with with a touch of ketchup. I heard there is a Bocado burger bar at the Avalon, so I will definitely pay them a visit. The only thing that sucks is you can only have one form of payment if you’re in party of 8 or more.

First thing: Pricy and food wasn’t good. Second thing: Service was bad! Went there with 8 other folks for a GT post-commencement celebration. Sat down, took 15 minutes for the server to show. All he asked was if we had a chance to look at the menu. It wasn’t until I asked him to take our drink orders, he then asked what we wanted to drink. All lunch sandwiches came with no sides. For sandwiches over $ 10, and the ever-so-famous no condiments dry burger was the size of a single at Wendy’s, minus the lettuce onion and tomato, really? No sides? Anyway, one of my friends and I decided to order a bowl of fries($ 6), as oppose to the side order($ 3) since we were gonna share. When the food came, the freaking bowl order had the same amount as a side order when we compared what others ordered around the table. I very passive-aggressively said that in front of the server. He pretended to hear nothing! When we paid, after he swiped all our cards. He came back and put the bill folder on the table with all our bills on the table without even trying to distribute them accordingly. Nice work following thru with your across the board bad service a-hole! This was my second time here. Absolutely over-rated junk!

Second visit to this westside outpost of yumminess. Don’t let the compact parking lot scare you away. The valet team(like the kitchen team) is very efficient and handle your ride while you’re inside. The menu is based on local ingredients and changes frequently so you are sure to find something that calls to you. Last night they had a sunchoke soup with toasted quinoa that caught my eye — but I was there with the Burger Babes for a burger outing(a monthly adventure tasting the burgers of Atlanta). During my prior visit I paired the bocado burger stack(two patties w/american cheese, house made b&b pickles, fries) with a glass of champagne and loved every bite. This visit, I shook things up a bit and ordered the bocado burger stack(2 patties w/american cheese, house made b&b pickles) sans the fries(they are divine) with the greens and balsamic vinaigrette, no mayo on the burger plus extra b&b pickles(who can resist). Several of the gals at the table kicked they fry orders up a notch with the garlic herb fries — super delish. They have a wonderful curated cocktail program, wine list and beers. All-in-all a tasty evening with friends. The bocado burger deserves to be on your list of burgers to eat in ATL.

Delicious! This is one of the best burgers. Not only are their burgers delish, their herb fries are to die for. The décor is nice, subtle, modern… etc. they have a great patio for when it is nice outside. Their service is good, waiters are polite and quick. We were surprised at how quickly our food came out. It was hot and delicious. The pickles on their burgers taste like they are homemade. Really there is nothing I disliked about this place, except that you have to valet park… other than that, its great!

I wish I had read the review first! I would’ve tried the burger. Okay so, quick visit to Bocado with some co-workers and overall the place was great. I have a tough time place Bocado though. Is it a fancy sit down joint? A casual restaurant to get your grub on? What we had was quite good! Appetizers, went with the sampler, some hits, some bunts, no misses. I thought the nut mix was a little plain. Solid olived and pimento for days, was so good. On the cheese plate, no honey(boo!) but the goat was solid. Little small, but they server it with some super peppery arugula. Delish. For my entrée, as I lamented earlier, I didn’t have the burger. Also, their entrée menu is a little limited, really the only reason they get dinged a star. I don’t mind a limited menu, but a special or two would go a long way. Show off that you can take local ingredients and whip up something fun for the night. I went with the flounder, and it was a good offering, little light on the flavoring though. I will say the collute(sp?) looked on point. Overall, this is a nice little place, it’s worth your time.

No lie. I love burgers. And until now, I’ve always thought that Holeman and Finch ruled the burger scene. However, Bocado has made me a believer. Where do I begin? The bun was perfect, the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, the cheese was cheesy, the pickles were homemade, and the beef was perfectly fatty. Together they combine into a magical entity that closely rivals the burgers at H&F. Oh yeah, and the fries were perfectly cooked between crispy and soft. For those of you who like Big Mac style sauce, don’t forget to get the extra added sauce. Just another added plus. We also had the bolognette, which is supposed to be a traditional-Italian dish. Think of lasagna made into a pasta. This was also good. But in the end, the burger stole the show and ran away with it.

Excellent lunch place for high quality sandwiches in the West Midtown Area. This sit-down restaurant serves a very popular burger stack along with a rotating selection of sandwiches. On the day I went, options included a grilled cheese sandwich, a roasted cauliflower and eggplant sandwich, a prosciutto sandwich, a short rib sandwich, and a fried chicken sandwich. So Bocado serves both traditional options along with some more unique, creative options. I’ve only been here so far for lunch, but the dinner menu also looks very appetizing. With a friend, I tried the deviled egg appetizer, the burger stack, the prosciutto sandwich, and the herb fries as a side. Note — sides must be purchased separately from the sandwich. The lunchtime deviled egg appetizer comes with 4 deviled eggs. The filling tasted decent and the garnish has a slight kick to it. Bocado’s burger stack tastes very much like a traditional burger — no sauces or toppings that are out of the ordinary. But, the patty was very tasty and the bun was pretty good. My favorite part of the meal was the prosciutto sandwich — the bread was warm and toasted, the sandwich had the right amount of prosciutto, great cheese, and a nice amount of sweetness from its fig jam. I can’t compare the herb fries to the regular fries, but I was very happy that we chose them. The herb flavor was infused into the fries. I love the food here. Parking is limited, but you may be able to find street parking on adjacent side streets.

There is a burger faceoff that exists in Atlanta, the never ending debate on who has the better burger: Bocado or Holeman & Finch. Even though I lived in Atlanta for six years before heading to Baltimore last year, I never ate at either location. However, I need to put this to rest and so when my two friends took me to Bocado, I ordered the burger. In total, the things we ate were: –roasted brussels sprouts –deviled eggs –bocado burger with garlic fries — — — Brussel Sprouts PROS –good seasoning, well balanced flavor throughout each piece of vegetable. Brussel Sprouts has a certain bitter flavor that isn’t the most pleasant kind of bitter for a lot of people. This dish was able to not only mask it but bring it out and complement it with the right flavors. –shareable: great quantity, definitely fed us three at the table. CONS –It’s totally carcinogenic but I’d rather have a little bit more char on my brussels sprouts — — — Deviled Eggs PROS –shareable: definitely for two, kind of borderline for three. Worked well for us because we had the brussels sprouts but for light eaters, an entrée dish is sufficient. –Very creamy egg yolk — it was super soft and fluffy, no chunks. CONS –I like a bit more flavor to my egg yolk other than just«tart». It was almost as if there was more mayo than salt/pepper, but I could be completely mistaken in what was used to season the yolk. — — — Bocado Burger With Garlic Fries PROS –vegetables: if you count the pickles that is. –that cheese was amazing. It was so gloopy and melted all over the meat. Now that is how cheese should go on a burger. –garlic fries are shoestring fries! I really like shoestring fries so this was a big plus for me. For those who like more potato fluff(or something more along the lines of a steak fry) this is not for you. CONS –meat was slightly… dry? Maybe the patty was a bit thin. –no vegetables. I like vegetables, or at least a tomato or so in my burger. I’m totally ready to bring on H&F!

I’m not a burger person at all but the Bocado Burger Stack is one that I crave. Service and quality has always been consistent and great when I’ve visited and the food comes out within a reasonable time. They’ve added an ‘animal style’ option to the menu which is similar to In-N-Out’s animal style. Includes an addition of grilled onions, bib lettuce, tomatoes, and secret sauce… I thoroughly enjoyed it. Can’t go wrong with the garlic herb fries, will definitely be back for more.

Finally! I got to experience the simple elegance of Bocado! On the one hand I felt completely underdressed when we walked in since there were people dressed in cocktail/business wear; while on the other hand, their signature dish is a burger and fries! On one hand we dined on elegant appetizers while on the other hand we were seated outside on a simple porch that reminded me of my grandmother’s. Everything about Bocado was a pleasant surprise and I, literally, ate it up! We started with the Deviled Eggs. And let me tell you, these are no ordinary deviled eggs! Those perfectly cooked little vessels of joy come filled to the brim with the creamiest whipped yoke topped with sweet onion jam, crispy shallots and green tomato. making it the perfect combination of sweet, spicy and just plain YUMMY! They came five to a plate and that was my only criticism – there needs to be at least six of those bad boys so that you’re not left fighting with your dinner date over the last one! Next up, the Fig Crostini. I’m not a bleu cheese fan so when I saw that the crostinis came topped with prosciutto, figs, arugula salad and a bleu cheese butter, I almost didn’t order it, but I’m SO happy I changed my mind. These were absolutely DELICIOUS! I’m a big fan of foods that give me a variety of textures and flavors all in one bite and these did just that. The crunchiness of the crostini, the soft, juiciness of the figs and the crisp of the arugula was a TEXTURAL rave in my mouth. At the same time, the diverse combination of FLAVORS blew my mind! The buttery, tanginess of the bleu cheese, the sweetness of the figs, the saltiness of the prosciutto and the spiciness of the arugula was a culinary experience I won’t soon forget. Oh man it was GOOD! For our third«small plate» we chose the Fried Okra which was perfectly crispy and came with a creamy dipping sauce. It was as good as okra can be but at the end of the day, to me, it was still just okra. For the main course, there was no escaping it, we had to try Bocado’s famous burger stack voted #2 in Atlanta. After having three starters we figured we’d just share the burger. I DONOT recommend this! That burger was too good and not nearly big enough to share. I don’t know what I was expecting but the burger certainly wasn’t fancy. It was just simple, perfectly cooked, deliciously cheesy and superbly flavorful on a soft, delectable bun but that’s all you need for a great burger – bells and whistles optional. I was blown away! The burger came with ketchup and I believe the same creamy dipping sauce that the okra came with. I smeared the ketchup on my burger and saved the creamy dipping sauce for my fries. By the way, opt for the HERBED fries, you won’t regret it! The only complaint about this burger was that it was gone too soon(I won’t be sharing it next time that’s for sure). For dessert, we ordered the almond bread pudding that came piping hot with a scoop of creamy vanilla gelato on top and dripping with caramel sauce. It was awesome, I really enjoyed it. We also ordered the salted chocolate pudding which was okay, just maybe a little TOO bitter for me but if you like dark chocolate then it’s incredibly smooth and rich. Bocado’s unbelievably delicious food, the superb service(our food came out SO quickly) and its trendy atmosphere just might make it one of my new favorite restaurants. I can’t wait to return!

I consider this place in the realm of Common Quarter, the Local 3, or Seed. In short: fresh, inventive food that tastes darn good. Yes, the burger is Top 5 in the city — luscious and flavorful in each bite — and the herb fries with dill buttermilk dressing are lovely. They taste like truffle oil — is that just in my mind? Anyway, really great! The small plates are actually enough for a normal meal, I soon found out when I ordered two of them! The beet salad with oranges, seeds, and pecorino cheese was a fresh delight, and the quinoa salad with avocado, cucumber, radish, pecorino cheese, and beets was a hearty, savory pleasure. Great service, lovely warm ambiance, and amazing food. Bring some special people and order a beer or cocktail, and you’re guaranteed a great evening. PS – Valet available but not required. Dress is upscale casual.

I went here for dinner with my Mom and sister and had the most incredible burger and fries I have ever had. I never knew that such an American staple could taste so gourmet and fresh. We all ordered their speciality, the Bocado Burger with herb fries. It was the most well deserving $ 15 burger that I have ever eaten. The burger featured 2 thinly cut beef patties of the highest quality cooked to perfection, topped with a layer of melted cheddar cheese and their house pickles. Alongside the burger was a side of herb-seasoned fries. The meal was served with ketchup as well as a cream sauce that complimented the burger well. I admit I felt a little underdressed as everyone else was in cocktail dresses and heels(I wish I had got the memo!) but overall the food was excellent. I will definitely return, in my Sunday’s beat of course.

So. That burger, huh? The first time I came to Bocado was specifically for the burger. I’m in a huge minority here but… it wasn’t mind-blowing. It was certainly a very good burger, let me be clear. But I think Holeman & Fitch’s burger edges it out. I’m not sure what it is exactly but something about the beef is slightly underwhelming. I’ve had it twice so I don’t think it was a fluke. Now that I’ve shared my two cents with the world, let’s move on to a few of the other dishes I’ve had. The menu changes regularly so the items I’m going to list may not be around later. Cheese plate — I’m the worst at remembering cheese types and brands. Of the four varieties, the only one I didn’t try was the blue cheese. The three I did sample were good. One was pretty funky but not enough to scare me off. Culotte steak — Served with carrots, potatoes, greens, and radishes, this dish was outstanding. It was cooked as requested to medium rare. And man was it tender. The salsa verde the came with the dish was bright and citrusy. A dumpling-type dish that I can’t remember the name of — they were filled with asparagus and spinach, if I recall correctly. They were really quite good, which makes me even more frustrated that I can’t remember the name of them. So what I’m trying to say is that overall, the food at Bocado is great. You don’t have to come here just for the burger. Their cocktails are also well done. Service has been good on both my visits. The ambiance is modern and trendy. Given the high ceilings and concrete floors that come with trendy restaurants, be advised that it can get pretty loud in there. For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend this place for an intimate date. But it is perfect for a double-date, group outing, or hanging out at the bar in a cute new outfit.
