My only complaint is I wish they had longer hours during the week! this location is clean, safe and has a great selection of books. Usually if I do an in-branch transfer I get a notification within 48 – 72 hours that my book has arrived at the Dunwoody branch.

As a Northerner, I am the first to admit that the libraries back in Connecticut and New Jersey were far superior to those found in Georgia(across multiple counties). That being said, this location is nice compared to other disappointing ones I have visited. It’s a bit smaller but the librarians are always friendly and welcoming. They have a separate kids area with toys, blocks, reading guides, computers, etc. While they don’t have everything selection wise, their inter-library loan system makes it easy to get what you need provided one of the Dekalb branches carries it(98% of the time, they do). I live close to this location and it is both easily accessible and connected to another location I frequent, the Spruill Arts Center. If you’ve never visited before I highly recommend taking an art class there — you never know what talents you may discover!

I’m not going to lie. The library system in the tiny town of Urbana-Champaign had a better selection than Dekalb County. I’m not complaining though, I love libraries in general — how else am I going to read for free without having to find space in my home for books? I think the poor selection means Atlanta’s going to have to step it up in funding for the library system! I’m just saying.

I love this library. Decent size, and it’s attached to a little art school so it’s fun to go over there and look at the classes. The Dekalb County Library has a very good book selection, they have an online system that helps you search, and request books if it’s not in your location. They will then deliver it to your location to come pick up. Dekalb County Libraries also have the best DVD selection I’ve ever seen. I find the only downside is that you cannot pay your late fees online. I also wish they had a bigger selection, but I feel like that with all libraries! They also have the Friends of the Dunwoody Library, that sell used books and magazines out on shelves for good prices, and hold great booksales 4 times a year. Proceeds from the sales go to the library, for renovations and to purchase more books/dvds/etc. They accept book donations and are always looking for volunteers to help during booksales. I’m very happy with my local library.
