Don’t bother — especially with better gyms/pools so nearby, open 7 days a week. Security is an issue, too. Cars have been broken into, in the parking lot & there is never a lifeguard at the pool, which sometimes leaves the pavilion deserted. Ear phones on treadmills randomly don’t work. In the summer, the AC breaks down, in the cardio room. The elevator broke down last year, too & was unusable for almost two weeks. When they try to improve something, they do it on the cheap which means it takes forever; the women’s(and men’s) locker rooms are closed, sometimes for weeks at a time & women members are expected to change into their swim suits in the tiny woman’s bathroom on the main floor. Often such closings are ‘extended’. This makes the showers off limits too! The woman’ locker room is dismal — when they replace something, its done so cheaply that it looks worse than ever — ‘new’ carpeting became filthy over night. The pools at The Marcus and The Dunwoody Y have full time life guards and more staff at the front door. This is a crummy facility, where one can feel unsafe.

*This review is only for the fitness center attached to the church.* I’ve been working out at the DBC Fitness Center for the last two months. I had been a member here years ago and knew that they had an inside walking track and an indoor pool PLUS they are only located a few blocks up from my current work office. Luckily, DBC allows people to have month-to-month memberships which is only slightly more expensive(approx. $ 10 per month) than the standard membership. The Fitness Center is a bit of a labyrinth but that is my only complaint. Other than the many up and downs and arounds you use to get to the locker room and back, it’s a perfect gym — popular classes, updated and well-maintained equipment, and clean. In addition to providing all that a standard gym requires, they have a pool — a huge one that is warm and salt-water chlorinated plus a small indoor walking track that is above the pool. The track area is hot and humid but huge fans are blowing to give the walkers/runners some relief. Some parts of the building are dated, but the equipment is not, and that’s the most important thing, so ignore the ugly carpet in the ladies’ locker room. DBC Fitness Center is not much of a meat market. It’s very family and senior friendly. It’s also not the most diverse Fitness Center, but people are friendly and I’ve never had a problem. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get in shape in a fairly non-judgmental environment. Unilocal 100 #58 (I persevere in the face of my defeat. Ha!)

I only attended the church once and found the service a bit dry but that’s not why I am here. I am writing about their great fitness center, which is separate but at the same location. Great zumba classes that are not too crowded, yoga, pilates, workout room, cycling, etc and at a reasonable price. The place is a little old but very clean and it’s a pleasant atmosphere to work out, without that pickup joint vibe.
