Let me tell you a story about a woman from Chicago, who didn’t get a hair cut before she moved to Atlanta. Three years ago, I married my wonderful husband. As a result of the pending wedding, I grew out my hair to accommodate the style I wanted for my special day. Shortly after the wedding I got my hair cut. Fast forward six months, I moved to Atlanta without addressing the length of my hair, which was manageable at this point. Fast forward to my two year anniversary of living in Atlanta, my hair was at an unmanageable length and touching my butt cheeks. I was scared. I was scared that I couldn’t find someone like my previous stylist who was a beloved family friend. I was scared my hair would get butchered and I would go back to work at this extravagant building and explain what happened to me. I was scared until one day, I was volunteering in Hapeville with my company and I walked past Hairberdasher. I don’t know what it was, but something in me said«do it, do it now». Disappointingly, it did not sound like Arnold Schwartzeneggar. I decided that on the following Monday I would make an appointment, and I did so with Val. The first thing that happened when I walked in was I filled out a questionnaire about myself and what I wanted in my hair. I found this to be a great means of feeling comfortable in this entirely new situation. I filled out my card and waited for Val to call me to the moment. When it finally happened(which was all of 5 minutes which seemed like an eternity) he called me up. Val was incredibly sweet, but I’ll admit, I was not myself at first considering the circumstances. I was burdened by my hair, but also attached to it considering the time we had together. Graciously, Val cut the length off. I looked in the mirror and I felt immediately relief. I came back to life and enjoyed the experience of being beautified(because that’s what Val does). The time that he cut my hair felt short if only for the great conversation from him and another patron of his salon. I believe in small business and I believe in contributing to the communities which you occupy. Even if you are not from Hapeville, Val will make you feel like you belong there and will welcome you will open arms. I came into work the next day and people who I don’t normally speak to on an average day commenting on my hair cut. I’ve been toting his services ever since.

I have been going to Val for years since a co worker recommended him. Tucked away from in Hapeville the salon is super cute and very laid back.

Great local salon(uniquely decorated like an old«saloon») located in Historic Hapeville. I had my hair cut & colored here before my wedding last year, and have been a regular customer since. West is my stylist, and I’ve been very happy with the cuts he’s given me. He and the owner, Val, are both very friendly and welcoming. I always feel like I am in a small town when I am at their salon. People walking by will pop their heads in the door to say«hello.» It’s sooo laid back there… not stuffy at all. And the prices are very reasonable. They also offer nail & massage services, but the name of their nail tech is escaping me at the moment.
