Spot is cool for a lowkey hangout and the food was solid. However, there is much to be desired if you’re looking for a sports bar type of atmosphere. This is more of a neighborhood pub that happens to have TVs and a patio.

No… simply no. I’ve lived in the neighborhood for years and have been wanting to try this place, but had not. Finally my friend and I went one evening(we had a Scoutmob). :The GOOD: The server was nice. He was a kind, friendly fella. :The BAD: The roof or ac unit was leaking and getting water on us. :The UGLY: The food… utter disappointment. We got a burger and the nachos. The nachos were lukewarm and used and just all around bad… not fresh and hot as they should be. It seemed like they had them in the fridge then heated the plate up and sent it out. Even the fries were subpar… how do you get fries wrong? :The crowd: Typical Midtown/VaHi type crowd. couples, older folks, younger folks, a mix of people(not really a mix of diversity though, which is fine, just clarifying what I mean by mix.) :The location/parking: Corner of Piedmont and Monroe. They have valet or you can park across the street but NOT in the lot with RuSans and Top Spice, they’ll boot you I think. :Summary: Even with a Scoutmob I would not recommend going here. The food is bland and has no flavor… I went early Dec 2015.

I will definitely be returning! The service was slow when we first arrived, but the bottomless mimosa and delicious food made up for the delay.

I met friends here for dinner last night and thought everything was pretty good. I was lame and got chicken tenders and fries, and paired it with a light wheat beer. They were really good though. Everyone else got burgers, salmon, mac and cheese, and everyone enjoyed their food as well. The only disappointment of the evening was at the end when the waiter brought out one check and proceeded to tell us he didnt keeep track of what everyone ordered, so if we wanted to separate the checks, we would have to mark on the bill who got what. Besides that, I enjoyed Hobnob.

I can’t say enough great things about Hobnob. Neighborhood bar/pub feel. Brunch is AWESOME! Bottomless mimosas and awesome food. I have always had great service here. Everyone is nice, friendly, quick and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable: I paid about $ 12 for a big breakfast and a non-alcoholic drink for brunch. They offer valet parking because their parking lot is literally 6 – 8 parking spaces. I’ve never used their valet though; I always park across the street behind the gas station(Exxon, I think). Plenty of spaces are available there and they won’t tow you. The only issue I’ve ever had here is that they don’t always take reservations, but sometimes they do. So if you’re planning on eating here on any day that you might think will be treated as a «special» day, you will probably wish you had made a reservation(especially MOTHER’S DAY). That said, my group of 8 strolled in on New Year’s Day without a reservation, and they were kind enough to rearrange some things so they could seat us immediately.

Overall: Overpriced and mediocre food. I was not impressed by our visit to HobNob. It started by attempting to use their valet parking. But after waiting a few minutes, we were told they were out of spots. I would recommend they flip their sign or place it away to let people know there is no more parking and that we should park elsewhere. Service was not very attentive, and when we were ready to pay after receiving the checks, we were ignored for 20 minutes. We needed to interfere with the walking path of our waitress in order to provide our credit cards. Beer selection was good. Food though was not very good. The Edamame Hummus was practically inedible to me. Shrimp and grits were okay, but serving size was very small. Lastly, for the amount of beer and food we received, the price we paid was definitely at a premium. It could easily be 20−25% cheaper, and then be priced more reasonably. Go elsewhere if you’re in this area of town. Plenty of other places can offer more for cheaper.

The food and service was ok. The TURNOFF was when the patrons came with their DOGS. I’m from NY and pets ARENOT allowed in any food establishments. Warning to those who DONOTLIKEDOGS don’t come here. Last thing i want to see or eat is dog hair. Pet friendly restaurant NOTCOOL! I will not be patronizing this site anymore. Might i add 3HUGE dogs. I suggest set aside Pet hours so that non-pet owners or lovers are not offended.

Ordered a bowl of chili and it was ice cold, I don’t know any lazy ass that would knowingly serve someone a cold bowl of chili, you must know it’s cold when you scoop it into a bowl

Great atmosphere and a huge selection of beer. Husband had tacos in special and really enjoyed each one. Especially the shrimp. I had a steak burger that was good but not the best. Will go back just won’t get the burger.

I just wasn’t very impressed with my burger. There are plenty of burger joints around town if you want a good burger.

Fries were decent. Ended with a hair in my burger. Kinda disappointed in how under cooked the burger was. I’ll give it another try another time. But for now it was pretty mediocre and wouldn’t recommend. If I didn’t find that hair, it might have been a different story…

Good neighborhood spot on the corner of Monroe and Piedmont. Complimentary valet… DONOT park in the shopping center behind the restaurant. They have signs everywhere telling you you will get booted. During the summer they have an indoor/outdoor/open air atmosphere. Big patio which I believe is dog friendly. Lots of covered patio spots as well. Trivia on Tuesday nights. Food is okay… Lots of beer and decent wine(for a bar).

Does acceptable attire include basketball shorts and a tee shirt? Would you want your guests to be dressed that way? Wednesday July 15, 11:47am: My girlfriend and I were riding bikes around the park and stopped in for a drink and lunch. We ordered spicy bloody marys. Its our day off, don’t judge. The guy behind the bar was nice and helped us with suggestions on the menu. But the guy who stepped in and mixed our drinks was wearing AND1 basketball shorts and a T shirt. Hopefully he just rolled out of bed and was too lazy to get dressed. The grosser option is that he just worked out and hadn’t showered. Judging from his physique, I’m guessing he hadn’t been working out that morning. They used Mr. Boston vodka and zing-zang and charged us $ 7. This was for a short glass, not a pint! Everything on the menu is heavy, greasy, fried gut bombs. We finished our drinks and decided to eat elsewhere.

There are definitely some redeeming qualities to this restaurant and so I will start with the good. They were very gracious by accommodating a large party in their outside patio very last minute for my friend’s birthday. Upon arriving, I immediately decided I loved the ambience(kinda reminded me of a Key West bar on holiday weekend) and ADORED the one dude singing live to anything and everything somewhere in the back by himself. They had fans blowing to stave off the heat and the servers and staff are nice and attentive. They have a $ 17 bottomless mimosa option for brunch which I did not try(the mimosas looked quite heavy on the OJ). They also have a large variety of Bloody Mary options(tequila, rum, sake, etc). My boyfriend had the rum version and I had the tequila version called the Bloody Maria. Both drinks were delicious and very strong; cannot complain one bit on that end. On to the bad: Along with our drinks, we ordered the steak & eggs and some chicken fingers to start, as we were pretty hungry. The food all came out together forty minutes later. We were on the verge of canceling the chicken fingers when it all arrived at the same time. There is so much potential in these dishes, but they were pretty awful as served. The chicken fingers were enormous, like half a chicken breast fried in dough that just fell off the breast once you picked it up. The fries that came with this dish were incredibly greasy, and I’m a chubsters so for me to say that it takes a lot. Our steak & eggs dish was simple, «BAD.» My boyfriend ate most of it(his and mine) because he’s a big guy and was starving. Honestly, there wasn’t really anything wrong with the food except the taste. Meat was lean, cooked right, potatoes were alright as well, and so were the cheesy grits. The problem with all of this was that nothing was seasoned correctly, and even after packing on the salt and pepper I couldn’t muster the enthusiasm to enjoy my food. The eggs were a powdered horrible mess worthy of a meal in prison. I also ordered a little slice of cake to sing happy birthday to my friend and it never came out. All in all, we made the best of it and had a nice time. As mentioned, there is a lot of potential for this place to be great if they pay more attention to detail, as well as the way they season their food. Otherwise, don’t really see myself returning. Kudos once again to the dude singing by himself in the corner; made the experience worthwhile.

The first time I was here was very late and just for drinks — I’m so glad we came back to try the food. The Fish and Chips are AWESOME. If you have a hankering for this specific meal, I would definitely come here. We had the margarita pizza and it was pretty good too. Anyway, great selection of beers, loved sitting in the outdoor patio area — you would think that corner would be very noisy, but the way the patio is built — it’s well ventilated and you don’t hear the road noise at all. We’ll definitely be back!

I have come back often and I’m always left with the same feeling. It’s great but not my favorite place to hang. Its also pricey even for this side of town. They do offer a great patio but unfortunately no parking(don’t park int the Clear Creek shopping center behind them-they tow) and you have to valet. I have tried their Pizza’s and most are pretty decent like the Magherita. Their Salads are also good, skip the Chicken Wings– not their best dish and very little meat on that bone. The base salad comes with a deep fried Goat Cheese Ball– I want nothing but a bowl of these next time. These rival the appetizer at Ecco! Their Pretzels with cheese sauce are yummy, great if you just want a bit with your drinks. The steakhouse burger is g bad– Mars it’s sauce on an onion ring piled on a hearty burger. Their Margharita pizza is very good. new– Pork belly pizza — pork belly, seasoned tomatoes, pineapple and fresh mozzarella cheese– it was ok. I prob won’t get that one again They also offer Boozy Milkshakes– have yet to try one but I just might on my next visit. Their Martini’s are decent too and they offer a great beer selection. The Peach Cobbler dessert is delicious. I also hear they offer a decent brunch menu and bottomless Mimosas for $ 16.95. Might be worth a try. Also, Monday night date night 3 course meal for $ 10 per person is also pretty good, better than Scoutmobs out there. This place is greater for date night or hanging with friends. Like me you’ll find some things that you love about it and others that you hate.

I came to Hob Nob for my friend’s birthday dinner. I came around 7pm and was glad that I was able to valet park complimentary. However, my other friends had to park across the street because their parking lot was full. Their parking lot is really crappy. It’s so small with dead end. You can hear constant honking cause cars were trying to reverse out. Service was good. Nothing wow factor and it was slow. Server was courteous and attentive. Food was alright. No wow factor either, just regular bar food. My friend’s fish sandwich was pretty good(4 stars). There were two beer battered fishes in tartar sauce. It came with French fries. French fries were over fried so it was bit soggy. I ordered the Asian sweet and spicy wings and side of BLT salad. Wings were ok, needed more sauce cause it was bit dry.(3 stars) BLT salad was your regular salad.(3.5 stars) They have patio and indoor seating. Patio seating has tv and heater. Only downside is, the heater was on the whole time which was burning my back. I requested it to be turned off. Overall, Hob Nob is decent place to chill with friends. I love the music they’re playing.

PARKING: usually does not merit a mention in my reviews unless it’s an issue, which it definitely is at Hobnob. They have a free valet service(which I do not consider ever really«free», by the way, since only jerks don’t tip the valet). Even with the valet service, I fail to see how you could fit very many vehicles into the lot, which was probably only designed for a handful of cars to begin with. I have to admit it was pretty amusing to us to have the valet drive our car 10 feet to us from the spot it had previously occupied. and then give him a tip. 1⁄5 FOOD: Chili cheese fries: The bf thought there was too much chili, and I disliked the beer cheese at first but the fries sort of grew on me while I was eating it and I actually really enjoyed it, the soggier the fries got! I particularly liked the leftover cheese/chili mixture and could be observed shamelessly scraping off every last lick of it while our entrees arrived. 4⁄5 Piedmont Burger: I was pretty excited to try this– the idea of arugula on a burger pretty much never fails to excite me! But I ordered my burger medium rare, and what I received was so pink I could see the strands of fat in the patty. I don’t know whether it was the rawness of the patty or some other flavor in the meat, but it was extremely off-putting. I couldn’t finish it. 1⁄5 Seasonal veggies: opted for this as the side for my burger, which was a GREATDECISION! I believed they were grilled, and they were oh-so-flavorful and tender! FYI if my meal was any indication if you dine at Hobnob in November your selection of «seasonal» veggies is likely to include red bell peppers, zucchini, and onions. 5⁄5 Chicken pot pie: Oh dear. The pastry on top was a bit underdone: There seemed to be a huge excess of thyme or some other oppressively strong herb. There wasn’t much chicken to speak of, really – seemed like the filling was mostly beer cheese(and thyme). 1⁄5 SERVICE: Started off great! Our waitress was very helpful and honest; we had polled her for her opinion on whether we should order chili cheese fries or a pretzel – she confessed to us that the pretzels are tasty but the portions are small(2 pretzels per order). But a big party came in, and from that point on she was nowhere to be seen for long stretches of time. 3⁄5 Other notes: yeah, I totally Scoutmobbed this place. I am not likely to come back without a similar such deal.

Since my friend works in the area, she recommend this place. Well, my friend’s favorite items, the lemonade and nachos, are totally gone from the menu. :’( The lamb burger was pretty good, but I think having it cooked medium rare didn’t do it any good. I would have rather had it well done. The fries were pretty hot and delicious. My friend’s peach cobbler was delish as well. The cold ice cream with the hot cobbler was a nice mixture. The Sweet Water Blue beer was pretty good, and my friend agreed. It had a very slight blue berry taste to it. Service was okay. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable, but he wasn’t around when we actually needed him. Perhaps if we had been seated inside then it would have been different. There’s complimentary valet parking here, but the spaces were super cramped. My friend said she wouldn’t recommend valeting your car here as she has heard not so good things…
