My boyfriend’s brother was raving about this place and we managed to try it right before leaving town. We split a torta with al pastor and it was delicious. I would one hundred percent come back and try other meat options because this one was so good. Next time we’re in GA.

great place for tacos and tortas. You must try the chicken flautas. They even have a salsa bar. One sign that you are getting great Mexican food is look at the patrons dining in the restaurant… mostly Hispanics.

A really great find, the food here is amazing! The food here is super authentic. I have tried the salads and the burrito. One of my favorite part is the salsa bar, there is a wide variety of salsa and little sides that i enjoyed sampling but have to be careful because some of them are really really spicy. The service here is quick, there are not many parking spaces in the front but the food is great. I would definitely like to come back and try the tacos and tortas here.

I eat lunch here every Tuesday with my boyfriend. I love the clean environment and friendly the staff. One thing I would like to mention is that last time I was there one of the ladies working there was mopping the dining area with some«Fabuloso» and it made the room smell like a public bathroom. She didn’t even say excuse me when she mopped right under our table. The strong smell from the cleaner ruined my appetite and I had to take my food to go. :-/other than that I love the salsa bar! 11÷18÷15 Went there for lunch around 2:30 and the same lady was there mopping the floor again. Had to take my food to go bc the cleaner they use for the floor smells too strong! :(she also doesn’t say excuse me when she’s basically mopping on my feet.

Reminds me of my moms Tortas growing up except the portion is much larger. Very delicious and authentic. I would certainly be returning soon!

Authentic Mexican fast food. No kidding. My Mexican coworker even confirmed it. It’s a done deal. He’s straight up from Mexico and he said it’s like the food there. Yeah! Every single worker was Mexican but they all spoke very good English and menu is in English, yay! I ordered Grill chicken locas tacos & mango aguas frescas. After ordering, got a number and just listen out for it. Once got the food, went to the condiment bar, quite impressive with the variety. Since it was a beautiful day, we decided to sit outside. The food is really good, I had so much food that I couldn’t finish. The mango aguas frescas was fresh and delicious. It wasn’t that sweet like I’ve had at other places. I cannot wait to come back and try more dishes. I was adviced to try the flauntas.

Food is great, and consistent. I’ve eaten here a half-dozen times over the past few months, and have yet to be disappointed. There’s the odd time when they give me the gringo-tacos with a bunch of crap on top, but I’ve learned to specify. I wish I didn’t have to, but after reading some of the complaints people leave on other taco joints, I can understand why they do it – for some reason, Americans seem to love tacos piled up with salad.

Having moved here from Texas, I am pretty tough on «authentic» Mexican Restaurants in the Atlanta suburbs. We were in need of of TexMex fix on a Saturday morning in Dunwoody and didn’t want to hit the usual spots. Found this one just off 285. Took it as a great sign that we were two of the few gringos crowding in for lunch. Every work crew and soccer team in the area was here for lunch. And what a lunch! Fantastic food. Quick service.(It’s counter service with a condiment bar). Ample portions. Very affordable.($ 17 for more food than the 2 of us could eat). Small but comfortable place. A couple of patio tables. Real Mexican food, not your typical TexMex. If the reason you go somewhere is great food at a great price, this is the place!

The boyfriend has never had a real torta before(granted they’re just sandwiches) so I thought we’d come here for dinner one night after working out at the gym. I remember going to one a long time ago in Chamblee/Doraville, but never to this location. Pros: — Decent food at a low price — Lots of salsas and extras at the condiments bar — They speak English here Cons: — Customer service is meh especially when they mess up an order. Not asking for much but it was like pulling teeth to get them to correct it. The tortas here are massive so they’re filling and decent value for the price. I had the Milanesa and the problem with it was the pork was too tough. This thing was like eating jerky. I’m not dismissing them for it though. The burrito is pretty large too. We ordered a burrito al pastor for good measure and I think I liked it better than the Milanesa torta. Everything is even better with the sauces and they range from mild to spicy. Parking seems limited, but there’s more space in the back. The lot itself is crappy because it’s laid-down gridded concrete blocks. On a rainy day, I felt like Indiana Jones hopping from one block to another. Be careful not to slip especially on the loose tiles.

Not good. The best thing in the house was said to be the steak taco. There was very little beef, essentially tiny overcooked scraps. Rice was better than average but the refried beans were very bad, runny… barely any cheese. Best thing was the Very Small cup of cheese mixed with lime juice.

Been their twice so far love their flautas and fish tacos. Got fish tacos first time they were great. Crazy part went to get them the next time but can’t get then anymore cause they use tilapia. So my go to is flautas and a mango juice. Quick and courteous service. Also a good place to practice your espanol

I moved to Atlanta from Dallas, Texas recently. This place has better tacos than any of the taco joints I frequented in the Dallas area. The condiments and salsa bar is fantastic. All the food was very high quality. I highly recommend this place, if you are in the mood for authentic Mexican tacos or tortas. The prices are extremely reasonable as well.

Omg thank you Unilocal for leading me to this hidden gem. It’s in a tiny shopping center and I’m usually the only non-Spanish speaker there. Which is a good sign. I’m in taco heaven! I always get the al pastor tacos and The flan is also great.

This location of Las Tortas can be found in a shopping center on the right traveling North outside the perimeter. The sign outside reads«Las Tortas Locas» — I’ve seen several of these around town, at least half a dozen in my travels but this is the first I’ve ventured into. This is more of a lunch place and by the look of all the Hispanic speakers, very popular with that crowd. I’d rate this as slightly above fast food — more like what you would receive at Willy’s or other lunch-counter order places with better quality ingredients and minimal service. Las Tortas translated means something like«cake» or «pie» and it’s apparently slang for a sandwich — perhaps something a bit foreign to many Latino cultures. These sandwiches remind me a bit of the famous Cuban pork/ham sandwich of which I’m a huge fan. We hit this location(a group of 6 or so) during lunch — there was already a line forming up at the counter where you order — the menu is on a board above the counter. Roughly divided into: Tortas Sencillas, Flautas, Tortas Especiales, Tortas Combinadas, Tortas Locas, Tacos, Burritos and Pambazos. We tried a variety of items to get a feel for the place, most things on the menu are super cheap. We started off with a fairly decent horchata — if you haven’t tried one of these rice-based drinks with vanilla, cinnamon and milk, they’re basically the equivalent of a milkshake, with less cold. My favorite are the coconut version from Puerto Rico, especially good with a bit of rum(but that’s neither here nor there). * Lunch Special Taquitos — three chicken taquitos served with black beans and rice * Loca Salad with Chicken — I had this — it was good but next time I’ll try a whole sandwich — campesina or al pastor, por favor… * Veggie Casadilla — always one vegetarian in the crowd — luckily they were able to accommodate… * Chicken Burrito — a bit dry but offset with plenty of tomatilla verde… * Campesina Tortas — I feel like this sandwich was the star of the show — awesome flavors and very filling. Love the condiment bar — several different salsas, pickles and veggies. Their tomatillo verde is particularly good. I also dig the grilled jalapenos quite a bit. (Also published to my food blog)

I came here and had huevos con chorizo in a torta, but looking at the kitchen, I’ll really need to try the al pastor and tacos next time. I’ll definitely be back.

Love their food, the super reasonable prices, their condiment bar, their authenticity(customers are mostly Latin and it’s packed during lunch hr – and food must be good b/c the chef from Double Zero was here, haha) — and they call out my # in English when my food is ready :) I love their Doraville location too but they only speak Spanish so I have to have to ask the cashier to say my # in Spanish and then pay extra careful attention as I wait for my # to be called :) At this Roswell Rd location I’ve been identified as an English speaker b/c it says so on my receipt(see photos) — love it! COMPLIMENTARYCONDIMENTBAR Great selection of salsas and some random sides. I’m a huge fan of their very spicy green smoothie-looking salsa. I love their radish slices too — always fresh. Other condiments include pico de gallo, sliced marinated onions(watch out — they are spicy!), long strips of carrots, cucumbers, grilled jalapenos and macaroni salad. CHICKENFLAUTAS — $ 5.75 My favorite dish here. You get two super long but skinny flautas and they are delicious. Tastes like fried spring rolls but Mexican-style and they’re topped with sliced avocado. I like to dip them in the green spicy salsa … yum. I also request chopped onions and cilantro when I put in my order … lots of cilantro :) Otherwise if you’re non-Latin, you’ll get shredded iceberg and cheese … I forgot to ask one time. CHICKENTACOCOMBOLUNCHSPECIAL — $ 5.25 During the week, they have great lunch specials. This combo includes two grilled chicken(or steak — I prefer chicken) double corn tortillas, rice and black beans. Very good and flavorful. If you’re an English-speaker and you want chopped onions & cilantro, ask for it — otherwise you’ll get American-style tacos(i.e., lettuce, cheese, etc). BLACKBEANS — $ 1.50 Nice size bowl that can be shared by 2 people. Pretty good but on the salty side. FRENCHFRIES — $ 1.75 Good portion can be shared by 2 – 3 people. These are good fries too. FYI more parking available in the back. Be careful when exiting the parking lot esp. if you’re heading south on Roswell Rd.

TORTAS The torta with grilled beef is so good. The meat is juicy and stuffed with lots of mayo and delicious veggies. TACOALPASTOR AWESOME. Get it with the pineapples. Makes all the difference. CHICKENTACO Mediocre. The taco is too thick and dry for me. Good flavor but I had to add a lot of sauce. CARNITASTACO Better than chicken taco but no where near as good as the al pastor. HORCHATA AWESOME. More milky.

Las Tortas Locas is a Mexican fast food chain with at least four locations in metro Atlanta. While«tortas» is in the name, this chain serves more than just Mexican sandwiches. They also serve tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and huaraches(similar to sopes) along with desserts like flan. The restaurants are nicer than your typical authentic Mexican taqueria(e.g. El Taco Veloz, Tacos La Villa, Taco T). They actually have a formal build-out that is Mexican-themed. The semi-open kitchen features a huge spit in the same vein as a Greek gyro spit or a Middle Eastern shawarma spit. On Las Tortas Locas’ spit is al pastor meat(pork). Atmosphere is casual and clientele is mostly Hispanic. Tortas are the specialty and range in price from $ 5 – 6 each. There are over 20 tortas(!) to choose from. Ingredients run the gamut from white cheese to head cheese. Tacos are $ 2 each and can be filled with any one of a half dozen types of meat. Think more of the basic stuff like beef barbacoa and chorizo sausage. They do have lengua(tongue), but no tripe. Burritos, quesadillas, and huaraches are about $ 5 each. Lunch combos are available as well. I’ve tried the Pastor con Queso($ 5.50) and it was delicious. The tortas are big. One torta should suffice as a meal. The Pastor con Queso contained al pastor meat(marinated roast pork off the spit) with red sauce, cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos, lettuce, onion, and avocado. The best thing about the sandwich: everything. All of the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, from the meat to the bread to the veggies. All sandwiches are made-to-order so that’s a plus. The meat was a little fatty, but that’s also one reason why it tasted so good. Tender and savory. The bread was soft and perfectly toasted. It held the large sandwich together well. The slices of avocado just made the sandwich that much sweeter. The tacos and burritos looked very good. I’ll probably try their tacos next time. They have a full fledged salsa bar with a half dozen salsas, peppers, onions, veggies, and lime. It looked fresh, well-stocked, clean, and healthy. Service is fast and efficient. There may be a bit of a language barrier, though. Overall, Las Tortas Locas has given me a good impression and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick, affordable, and authentic Mexican meal.
